LEGO Voyagers

The only reason why LEGO Voyagers won't be in the GOTY conversation is because it's not innovative enough. Instead, it uses it own simplicity to be accessible to every game to provide a beautiful, addicting and touching experience

It's a beautiful game in so many ways, but most of all that beauty shines through in the would-be simple story of two friends on an adventure together, which easily became just as special for me and my loved ones.

This puzzle can take up to 10 hours to complete, depending on the speed at which you solve the puzzles, the coordination between the players, and the amount of laughter you cause if you can't finish a section because you accidentally get caught, bumped, or who knows what else. I can assure you there will be no shortage of laughs, and what could be more wonderful than that when you're playing with someone else?

LEGO Voyagers is a gorgeous, surprisingly emotional adventure about friendship, the joy of pure play and supporting one another. Even the smallest of us can achieve great things.

Lego Voyagers is equal parts lovely to look at, simple yet engaging to play, and an all round good time for co-op players no matter their skill level.

LEGO Voyagers offers a short but charming co-op adventure with heartfelt, wordless storytelling. Puzzles are mostly linear, and camera or control issues can frustrate, but the emotional experience lingers.

Voyager exudes warmth, joy and freshness. The detail and colour of the world are particularly impressive: even the friends' home island is decorated with many different space-themed gadgets and inventions, which tell the story of the main characters' love for the universe. In addition to beautiful landscapes, the game offers a down-to-earth story of friendship and shared experiences.

LEGO Voyagers sets many foundational bricks that could be used by LEGO titles for years to come, be it the refreshing take on gameplay, reflective show-not-tell narrative told in wonder filled environments, or simple co-op fun. Sadly, a lack of overall direction and goals leaves LEGO Voyagers feeling more like a tech demo that future titles will have to rebuild, rather than a complete gaming experience.
