Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered

Ultimately, it's a product whose remastering is more geared towards fans of the time than towards new players, who have been enjoying for years some of the gameplay improvements that the medium has adopted and which they won't find. But it's also a window into a good past, in which games already had a solid, fun and incredible foundation, which has forged the future that we enjoy today , because of course, perhaps many of you don't know, but the person responsible for Soul Reaver was Amy Hennig, also creator of the Uncharted saga and currently in charge of Marvel 1943: Ryse of Hydra. Oh, and the soundtrack… this soundtrack is an absolute delight.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1-2 Remastered allows us to get our hands on two gems from the past, embellished with numerous technical and content enhancements that are cleverly amalgamated and in no way distort the original work. The most demanding gamers will have to turn a blind eye to some of the mechanics stemming from the years when the two games were conceived, but they remain two video game milestones to be tried without hesitation.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is a great way to play two underserved cult classics, with reams of extra material for the devoted.

It's refreshing to play the Soul Reaver games again after so many years in one big, beautifully enhanced package. So you have a new opportunity to (once again) play a pair of games in a unique and mysterious world with a wonderfully interwoven story and charismatic characters. Whether you're a newcomer or a veteran of the originals, there's something here for everyone.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 Remastered has enough small improvements and nice bonuses for fans. It's the best way to experience the Soul Reaver sub-series.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered feels a bit archaic by modern standards, but it still tells a compelling tale of vampires and vengeance that highly entertains while also challenging gamers with brain-wracking environmental puzzles.

The Legacy of Kain series deserves to come back, and this collection is a nice first step. These games are dated, but still excellent. The price tag is decent at $30, but I do wish it had a little more meat to it. Still, I can highly recommend these games. Just be prepared to deal with the quirkiness of the beginning of 3D gaming. It will take some time, but the investment is worth it.

Legacy of Kain™ Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered is one of my childhood games brought back to the modern day but just not in the way I imagined. With such a cool story and concept, a remake combining the two with modern controls and a bit more direction would have made this awesome. But just a graphical touch up isn’t enough to bring these games to the modern era. It needed more love and for me that’s a shame.
