Invincible VS blends the best parts of Marvel vs. Capcom, Mortal Kombat, Injustice and Killer Instinct into a wildly fun, gory 3v3 tag fighter that feels built for Invincible fans, newcomers, lapsed players and FGC pros alike.

As someone who mostly cares about the core mechanics above all else, I’m pleased to report that Invincible VS lives up to my lofty and possibly unreasonable expectations. The combination of IP authenticity and gory combo focused combat is a mix that for me doesn’t really get old and is incredibly fun. Fans of the show will absolutely want to get their hands on this, if for no other reason than to further immerse themselves in the universe.

If you were left wanting more Invincible, this game will satisfy your craving for more of this protagonist and his characters. It features an original story and plenty of violence, all delivered with a healthy dose of fun. Unfortunately, it falls short in terms of content and fighters, but if you can overlook these shortcomings, it'll be a blast from start to finish.

Even with its barebones modes, this game is really good. It would be so ultimate with a better story mode a few more single player modes. If you’re a fan of Invincible, you owe it to yourself to check out Invincible VS. Fans of fighting games, especially Killer Instinct (2013) and Marvel VS Capcom need to give this game a try. It borrows a lot from other fighters as well, so really just about any type of fighting game fan will find enjoyment in it.

Although Invincible Vs has some rough spots, it overall succeeds where it needs to in a fighting game. The gameplay is fun, the netcode is good overall and the roster is a blast to play with along with solid presentation. While some character omissions are lamentable… The fact that Quarter Up made me want to try Dupli-Kate out makes up for it and thankfully we’re in the age where bugs can be fixed rather quickly.

Invincible VS has the look and the soul of a great fighter, but the mechanics can't keep up. It nails the source material and features a deep, Killer Instinct-inspired combo engine, but the "finished" product feels unfinished. Between a hollow story mode, broken balancing, and a nearly unplayable online suite, it’s clear the game was released prematurely. It’s essentially an Early Access title in disguise; Until the developers fix the bugs and refine the core systems, it remains a diamond in the very rough.

Invincible VS brings Robert Kirkman's world into a video game and brings attention back to the 3vs3 fighting game genre. Battles are frantic, extremely violent, and make good use of tag mechanics with accessible controls. Unfortunately, balancing issues and a severe lack of single-player content with a disappointingly short Story mode, hold the game back. It is a recommended purchase only for hardcore fans of the series or genre.
