Team Cherry once again proves their mastery with Hollow Knight: Silksong, a must-play Metroidvania that shines in combat, platforming, and exploration. With breathtaking visuals, a superb soundtrack, and a richly detailed world, it offers an adventure that feels both authentic and absorbing. Though its punishing difficulty demands full focus, the reward of overcoming its trials is unmatched.

When I rolled credits for the third and final time, I put my controller down and let my thoughts and feelings carry me. The last third had some of the best moments in the title, and I can confidently say that Hollow Knight: Silksong is better than the first game in almost every single way. More agile, more expressive, more fun, more… everything. Hollow Knight ran so that Silksong could sprint.

You can see Team Cherry's love and dedication in every corner of Silksong, from the level designs to the adorable NPCs, the captivating story, the relentless enemies, and a spine-tingling soundtrack, which makes me feel bad for cursing every generation of developers for dying so many times. But that's the charm and appeal of the game.

Silksong isn't the revolution of a decade like Breath of the Wild or possibly GTA 6. Its difficulty and universe make it a game still reserved for an audience that loves a demanding experience despite a notable effort in its accessibility. Still, in its category, it's a king who has by no means lost his crown. The title oozes the love of its developers from every pore of its skin. In addition to being undisputed in its field, Silksong is an example for all. An example that shows what can be delivered with time and love. Like a caterpillar, the developers of Team Cherry isolated themselves in their cocoon. And for 7 years, they were able to create a video game in the image of silk: light, soft, strong, which will undoubtedly stand the test of time.

One of the best metroidvanias in history with unnecessarily malicious game design and a lack of accessibility options.

Hornet is a worthy successor to Hollow Knight in this sequel that surpasses the original work. The Kingdom of Pharloom is beautiful, with varied settings and exquisite maps that guarantee challenging and fun progression.

There are few examples around of games as polished and refined as Hollow Knight: Silksong. Every single element of the game is the result of careful study and thoughtful consideration to ensure that players get exactly what Team Cherry wants to convey. And the difficulty, which is undeniably high even for a Metroidvania, is not an end in itself, but a means of transporting the player through a world that does not simply ask to be traversed, but revealed.

Hollow Knight: Silksong manages to live up to the daunting expectations surrounding the sequel. It carries the spirit of the original while introducing fresh mechanics that shape a remarkable adventure, one worthy of standing alongside its predecessor. The challenge is steep, but the true reward comes from mastering enemy patterns and finding ways to overcome them. Every element coalesces into an experience that exemplifies what’s possible when developers take the time to fully realize their vision.

Silksong is the highly anticipated sequel to Hollow Knight, expanding on its predecessor both in story and gameplay. It charms with a more agile protagonist, a world that’s a joy to explore, and a soundtrack full of standout tracks. Still, the difficulty can feel a bit over the top at times, which might put off new players and frustrate veterans. Even so, it remains an absolute must-play.

Hornet’s tale isn’t likely to be rushed into a film or television adaptation, but it is another example of the growing quality and prevalence of real storytelling in video games. It didn’t have to be that way, either. The game has a wonderful atmosphere, enthralling gameplay, and tons of content, so the developers could’ve gotten by without adding a rich narrative to highlight it all. But they chose to anyway.
