Amazing all the way through. Exploring is a ton of fun as well as the combat. Hoping to get some DLC

The open world felt empty and the characters were badly written and acted. Hogwarts had so much potential but it was undetailed and felt like a chore to walk through. The gameplay was very good but it didn’t make up for everything else wrong with the game.

Unfortunately I can only give this game a 5. It was great up until about the 50% mark when it became a glitchy mess and I couldn't start dialogue with NPCs. Made bug report but nothing has been done.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall Hogwarts Legacy could have been worse. It has a good foundation, good graphic and stable fps, BUT a lot of stuff is just missing. There is no Companion System like they said. You can't take NPC's with you on Adventure. You can't interact with NPC's when you meet them in Hogwarts. You can't go drink a Butterbeer, play Wizards Chess or Gobstone. You only interact with the NPC's when they have a Quest for you. All the fun stuff Hogwarts has like Halloween, Yule Ball or Christmas and even Quiddich is not in the game. There are only 4 main Enemies: Humans, Spiders, Goblins or Trolls. Sometimes you see some Wolfes or the Swamp Creatures but they are only in the Open World and never in Quests. A big mistake are the unforgivable curses! The first you get in a mission and it has a reason you learn it but the others are just like: hey I can learn it to you. You can cast them infront of your Professors without a reaction and the whole game is build about saving Ann what you could at the end if you are evil but well you can't because the game ends before and the quest is suddenly over. Anne is gone! The lessions are cutscenes and you are more outside of hogwarts than really in school. No consequences about that either. There is also no NG+ or anything that would male the game worthy of a second playtrough. It is just said! Expand

Game is fun, but has very little replay value. Each house has a special quest. But other than that nothing changes. Game even on harder difficulty is still way too easy.

This game is incredibly beautifully designed, Hogwarts is amazing and the open world is really pretty... and that's about it what this game has to offer. It has some of the stalest combat I've seen in a game, the open world is pretty, but empty and it's really doesn't reward you at all for exploring it. When you're not doing their quests, your "friends" ignore you like the wind, so it's a very lonely game, while as a long time Harry Potter fan, I always imagine Hogwarts to be warm and that it would give you a feeling of home. This game makes you feel like an alien in this castle.

Side quests are incredibly boring, unrewarding and tedious, I really could not be arsed to do any sidequests outside of Sebastian's. It at most 40 hours of content, which is far from enough for a game I spent 70€ on. Biggest disappointment of the year. Not to mention that on PC it barely is able to run, doesn't matter if you have a 4090 or a 2070, this game has lag spikes like no other, it's like you're watching a slideshow.

I wanted to like this game. I enjoyed the Harry Potter movies and love open world games. The graphics is also amazing in his game, love the Ray tracing mode. So, why the low score? Not sure I can put my finger on any specific thing, generally I was bored.

Some factors are the never ending tutorials and hand holding. Way too many dialogues. Even though it's and open world game, each task is very linear. Too many puzzles. The story is a big yawn, childish and unmemorable. I feel the game is aimed at children, the movies were darker and had more depth to them, reaching kids and adults alike. The battles were also very monotone. Same thing over and over. And beating the enemies has about the same depth as popping a balloon. They have no character, and I did not like the attack pattern involving teleporting in right next to you all the time. A safe gift for your child I guess...

The most boring game ever. Empty open world, stupid plot, senseless dialogues, boring and unlikeble characters. Monotonous battle system. Many bugs and bad optimization. This is a 3D Hogwarts excursion, but not a game.

    The good: -atmosphere is incredible
-combat is fun, satisfying, and engaging
-music is both original and reminiscent of the original HP score
    -no game breaking bugs
-riding the broom is f’n sweet

    The bad:
-frame rate issues on fidelity mode
-constant pop-in on performance and fidelity mode
-constant fade to black and loading creating disengagement -piss poor story (couldn’t care less about what happens for whatever reason or to who)
-NPCs/characters are as robotic and lifeless as anything I’ve ever encountered
-the open world provides little to no reason to explore it outside of hardline quest objectives
-every combat situation can be solved the same way -holds your hand all the way through as if you’ve never played a video game
-level locked areas that provide no reason for being restricted other than *you’re not a high enough level*
-can only attack designated *enemies* -UI is needlessly convoluted (small gripe)

Overall, the game is basically assassins creed with a wand and broom at Hogwarts. If you like AC you’ll like this, if you hate AC (like me) you’ll hate it. I could care less about the controversy surrounding the game (obvi, because I bought it) I just straight up didn’t find it fun or engaging overall. It doesn’t bring anything new to the table from a mechanical perspective and lacks charm from a character and storytelling perspective.

Managed to play a friend's copy of the game for an hour or so, and was immediately underwhelmed for how gassed up this game was. The mediocre RPG mechanics aren't enough to convince me to look past the lobotomized NPCs and framerate dips. Very glad I decided not to purchase it for myself.

The multi-billion dollar business has no obligation to provide valid evidence for something so permanent as a PERMAMENT SUSPENSION FROM ACCESSING ANY OF YOUR PAID FOR CONTENT ON THEIR SYSTEM?!?! The thing is...you CANT leave any real hateful comments and cuss words in reviews or XBOX doesn't even even save them, just blanks it out like you didn't type anything at all. Also I would've never said anything that warrants this kind of permament suspension, at worst I was talking crap on EAs Sims 4 predatory gaming practices of cutting a main game up and selling it to you in 20-$40 "game & expansion packs". So the suspension is complete BS, groups of circle jerks can get together and report something you typed as offensive and it auto-bans you and some lame gamer on a power-trip volunteering for their "ambassador" program (more circle jerks with fragile egos) reviews the ban and appeal. Boycott Xbox, they don't deserve your money with their "woke" parenting of even the lamest of things like GAME REVIEWS. I literally cant even sign into my account to access offline content, its ALL GONE thanks to an Abusive system MS lets auto-handle, the first miss steps of "AI". Buyers BEWARE. Expand

Hogwarts Legacy is littered with small niggles which, when stacked together, make the game feel like it was released over a decade ago. While the castle is a large enough area to explore, the monotony of repeating quests and tasks makes the game feel last-generation and boring over time. Hogwarts Legacy could already use some DLC's in order to expand the size of the world, add more complex spells, and introduce a wider array of enemies. If you are a power-nerd looking for a new and complete RPG, you will have to wait for Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, coming in April 2023. While most critics agree that Hogwarts Legacy is near perfect, due to the incomplete feeling of the game and lack of a solid story arc, it feels more Muggle than magic.

Hogwarts Legacy is an extremely fun adventure, despite having some graphic and narrative difficulties. In the vast open world, which makes it possible to explore popular locations and live like a typical Hogwarts student, you will face interesting challenges in the path of unraveling the main mystery of the game. Even though it's an exciting adventure, even a muggle like me manages, at a certain point, to miss a greater magic to deliver everything that the fans expected.
