    Solid overall and most issues are nitpicks for the most part. A solid and fun game to not take to seriously. Unfortunately the weakest part of the game might be the main quest line but the side quest and combat make up for it.

    Truly amazing game that really does immerse you in the wizarding world and that, surprisingly for a new game, has very little in the way of bugs from day one.

    Aside the odd stutter and rare loading delay when opening doors to other areas (usually when running quickly through areas) the game runs smoothly despite it being graphically impressive.

    This game is really good. I'm a big Harry Potter fan and really looked forward to playing it and I am really happy I did. The open world is stunning and the castle itself is really big and beautifully made. I have played like 30 hours and it's already a GOTY for me.

    Hands down one of the best games I have played in years. The dedication of the developers to the world/lore is amazing, the graphics are phenomenal, and the story is excellently executed. If anything the only thing I would wish for is more of it!

    This game is perfection. Other developers need to take notes from how this game was developed and learn from it.     Simply fantastic! Incredible visuals, great game play, and enough action to keep you from wandering the castle and surrounding regions aimlessly exploring lol.

    This game is wonderful! The immersion is in-depth and the quests never seem to get repetitive, The graphics and soundtrack are astounding and I love it. The controls are intuitive and I never feel frustrated playing this game. The puzzles are also really good!

    I also love the inclusivity the game has with LGBTQ+ characters and characters with disabilities

    Feel slightly insane being one of the only people I’ve seen so far to not think this game is GOTY material, but here we go. First of all, I will say combat is incredible. For the most part it’s pretty easy, but what it lacks in difficulty it makes up for in making you feel badass. The way your character spins and twirls as they fire off a variety of spells feels as though you’re pullingFeel slightly insane being one of the only people I’ve seen so far to not think this game is GOTY material, but here we go. First of all, I will say combat is incredible. For the most part it’s pretty easy, but what it lacks in difficulty it makes up for in making you feel badass. The way your character spins and twirls as they fire off a variety of spells feels as though you’re pulling off some incredible feats, especially when you get into the flow in a larger scale fight. Changing between and comboing different spells and spell sets that you build up over the course of the game feels cool too. Nothing like lifting someone up with leviosa, and pounding them back down with descendo, or hitting a goblin with its own axe after an expelliarmus.

    However the open world, especially outside of the admittedly clearly lovingly crafted Hogwarts, and possibly Hogsmead (although nowhere near the level of hogwarts) is miserable. Empty spare a few distant villages and the occasional enemy encounter. The sidequests and challenges dotted throughout the highlands usually offer little more than repetitive tasks with lacklustre rewards. Bar a select few side missions, usually the ones given by more story centric characters, any side quests given usually amount to a fetch quest, with at best a cosmetic reward, if not just a new prop for the relatively pointless room of requirement.

    The motivation to do these menial side missions is even lower due to the interchangeably awful voice acting and writing. It feels like if it’s not the writing that’s off, it’s the acting and vice versa. I would say the acting isn’t as bad as it could’ve been, but the writing reaches lower echelon Bethesda more often than not.

    I’ve got around 25-30 hours in at the time of writing, and while I may put in a few more, to conclude storylines with a couple of the more likeable side characters, I cannot see myself returning. For all the perks of the combat, there are issues with the empty open world, occasionally frustrating controls (one mount you gain access to is a right pain to make land) and, unmentioned so far, a very bizarre lack of ambiance? Hogwarts feels less like a bustling school, and more like I’m stood 50 yards outside one. The hallways are filled with distant chatter, and the occasional Skyrim esc comment, ‘I sure hate Herbology, it’s so boring’ and the like, but it feels flat, empty, to me at least. As previously stated, exploration is often unrewarding, offering a swathe of chests to open with little reward, or perhaps a vaguely interesting location, but more often than not I felt no motivation to explore after the first couple of hours. Once you’ve seen 30 doors end in a very similar corridor or classroom, you’ve seen them all. And hogwarts remains the best area in the game for exploration, probably solely because it’s hogwarts, everyone at some point has thought it’d be kind of cool to run around the castle. Outside, there’s a surprisingly large map, (that the game has no problem making you trek across for certain missions) filled with little more than the occasional bandit camp or spider nest, or a hamlet, with a sidequest and a few meaningless chests dotted about. Loot is it’s own can of worms, being a game made post 2015 it’s got that loot system that every publisher seems to think is mandatory now. Luckily, for once, this game has come with a decent transmog system built in. The biggest issue here though is eventually you reach appoint where you’re sufficiently happy with how your character looks, and new gear becomes relatively meaningless, past being a bigger number. Except for another issue I had towards the end of the story. At some point (probably around level 30ish?) I stopped getting gear that was stronger than what I already had. It would be a higher level, but the stats were almost always a few lower than the gear I already had. This obviously lead to me very rapidly getting bored of the loot system, which as already stated, is the games primary reward system.

    The game for me ranges anywhere between a 5 and a 7, maybe an 8 at times (the combat clicked really well for whatever reason). Obviously enjoy what you enjoy, I’m probably not as into Harry Potter as I could be, but the honeymoon phase didn’t last long with this game.    … Expand

    If you are a big fan of all things Harry Potter then I guarantee you will be fully immersed in the universe for countless days before seeing sunlight again. The dialog is detailed and you will see some names/places that you recognise paying homage to the story's. However I think there is far too much pointless dialog/cutscenes meaning when something interesting is actually going to happen I've already skipped it because there isn't enough hours in the day to decipher what is actually worth watching.

    The game has a seemingly diverse group of enemies to begin with however after playing the game for any length of time you'll realise that they all feel similar when fighting against them making for less engaging gameplay once you know the typical behaviours of each enemy.

    Combat is enjoyable you have a large arsenal of spells which you can use to defeat your foes in a variety of manners. There is great depth in that there are different defensive strategies that enemies use meaning you may have to use spells or tactics that you otherwise wouldn't have bringing more diversity to the combat. There are two ways to avoid incoming attacks parry & dodge which in my opinion are far too easy to use when an attack is coming in there is a glow above your characters head either gold/red depending on if you can parry the attack. By giving away which defence you must use along with the huge amount of time given to perform these defensive manoeuvres they have made it very easy to abuse this system making the combat incredibly easy no matter which difficulty setting you are playing on.

    The HUD is cluttered and causes a lack in immersion luckily there are settings in the menu to hide some of the less necessary features.

    In conclusion is this not an exciting action packed game where you will be challenged in combat but it is a immersive experience taking you to Harry Potter world like you've never seen it before.    … Expand

    This is a masterpiece and a labour of love by Avalanche. It’s quite possibly the best game I’ve ever played, and this is from someone who has been gaming for 45 years. It is perfect for casual play where a 20 minute session still keeps you engaged, even if it’s just exploring or completing a side mission. I have it installed on PC, Steam Deck and XBSX and it scales and plays great on allThis is a masterpiece and a labour of love by Avalanche. It’s quite possibly the best game I’ve ever played, and this is from someone who has been gaming for 45 years. The visuals are sumptuous, audio and voice acting are great, and the open world is brimming with content.

    After all the hype surrounding Elden Ring (which I never bought or played because it just didn’t appeal to me as a world and visuals looked disappointing, and the gameplay far too hardcore), finally we have a game whose hype is actually justified.

    It reminds me of the first Fable game but is more free and open, richer and more rewarding. It’s like the Fable I’ve always wanted to play. I’m not really a massive Harry Potter fan, but you don’t need to be. Just play this to appreciate the artistry of the devs and their passion for the project.     The story is very decent, although not memorable, the game has more emphasis on the interaction of the player with the world and how the world reacts to the player. The combat system is very dynamic, while it does not cause difficulties in mastering, a sufficiently large number of spells that can be combined with each other. For fans of "sandboxes" there is a corner where you can spend a long time creating your own world inside a common universe.

    Why is the rating not 10? There is no Quidditch or co-op in the game. Let's hope that they will appear in the DLC, which, although not announced, but which I personally hope for!    … Expand

Finished the main part of the game, also did a bunch of side quests; I loved it, can't say I care about all the PC and politics;that being said. I played the game and judged it on that merit-being a game- well done to WB-avalanche and portray games;looking forward to the sequel-I'll definitely pre-order again

    Story was fine, but what got me were all the little detailed things put in, not necessarily any gameplay mechanism but rather small nods and fan-service.

    BEST GAME IVE PLAYED EVER, MOST LIKELY…thought same thing when first played Arkham City on ps4, I love open world 3rd person, but this world is sooooo immerse and detailed its ridiculous…ALSO, SOOOOOO MANY side missions and things to be done hidden within areas like the forbidden forest or places like that….ITS A MUST BUY FOR EVERYONE!!!!!

    Life has been absolute garbage lately, so it's been nice to escape into a pretty decent game for a couple of weeks. Yes, JK Rowling is garbage,but so is the company that makes your phone using slave labor, or the multi conglomerate that makes your food using land they stole from some Latin American country in the 50s while paying their field workers 25 cents a day.     Hogwarts Legacy is the Harry Potter game I’ve been dreaming of since I was a teenager. I grew up alongside the Harry Potter novels and devoured them all, and I spent the time between book releases reading and writing fanfiction set in the Wizarding World.

    This game is what any RPG fan of magic crave!
    I will leave it simply here, try the game, love it, enjoy it, live it up.
    I want more, more, more in this series. DLC(s), sequel(s).

    Managed to play a friend's copy of the game for an hour or so, and was immediately underwhelmed for how gassed up this game was. The mediocre RPG mechanics aren't enough to convince me to look past the lobotomized NPCs and framerate dips. Very glad I decided not to purchase it for myself.

    This game is an absolute game of the year candidate. I couldn’t find this much joy in a videogame since Breath of the Wild. And this is coming from someone who never read the books or watched any of the movies (but I’ll certainly now).

    Simply gorgeous. Breath taking atmosphere, really feels like being inside the movies. Smooth and stimulating gameplay, the combat system is majestic!! People who gave it zero because it's not working on their device are lying like the ones who gave it zero because of politics against JK Rowling, you are just pathetic and dishonest.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall Hogwarts Legacy could have been worse. It has a good foundation, good graphic and stable fps, BUT a lot of stuff is just missing. There is no Companion System like they said. You can't take NPC's with you on Adventure. You can't interact with NPC's when you meet them in Hogwarts. You can't go drink a Butterbeer, play Wizards Chess or Gobstone. You only interact with the NPC's when they have a Quest for you. All the fun stuff Hogwarts has like Halloween, Yule Ball or Christmas and even Quiddich is not in the game. There are only 4 main Enemies: Humans, Spiders, Goblins or Trolls. Sometimes you see some Wolfes or the Swamp Creatures but they are only in the Open World and never in Quests. A big mistake are the unforgivable curses! The first you get in a mission and it has a reason you learn it but the others are just like: hey I can learn it to you. You can cast them infront of your Professors without a reaction and the whole game is build about saving Ann what you could at the end if you are evil but well you can't because the game ends before and the quest is suddenly over. Anne is gone! The lessions are cutscenes and you are more outside of hogwarts than really in school. No consequences about that either. There is also no NG+ or anything that would male the game worthy of a second playtrough. It is just said!… Expand

    The Game you've been waiting for if your a Harry Potter fan a true Masterpiece in it's own right even if your not a Harry Potter fan and are just some one who likes RPG games this definitely checks all the boxes in my opinion so why are you still here reading my review?!?just go play the friggin game already lol

    Initially i thought of not buying since the studio included trans characters as a way to try to appease certain agenda groups (which were not appeased antway). In the end I bought it and enjoy playing, except the transvestite character parts (next time don't bend to anybody's pressure, write a story and stick to it).
    Great game overall though.

Especially when you but fidelity mode on with RT. The camera is a pain but you can overcome that in the settings. It is an amazingly detailed environment, and I cannot put it down.     Stealth player review. Played on Series S.

    Stealth is not only an option, it is an incredibly fun way to play. Early in the game you will learn an invisibility spell and how to magically subdue opponents. Anyone that has played Assassin’s Creed will feel right at home. In some cases you can clear an entire camp by just knocking everyone out. In other cases you can pick off the    Stealth player review. Played on Series S.

Anyone that has played Assassin’s Creed will feel right at home. In some cases you can clear an entire camp by just knocking everyone out. In other cases you can pick off the stragglers before launching into open attack.

    Another stealth tactic I use is to cast a spell while invisible that pulls a target to me, hit them with two fire spells and finish them off with a wand if need be. Even if this alerts other enemies (often it doesn’t), by the time they have began to respond you have finished combat and dropped back into stealth. When they come looking for you simply maneuver to flank them and stun as many as you can.

    In open combat it is easy to take on up to three enemies. Four on up becomes an issue as spell cooldowns limits damage output. You can have up to 16 spells equipped, broken in to 4 groups of 4 bound to the D pad. If you are dexterous (I am not) you can switch between groups on the fly making it so that you never have to wait for a cooldown. If you do not like to swap spells during combat then I got you covered… potions and helpful flora.

    Potions once upgraded do things like making you invulnerable for a short time, or make an electrical storm stun, and I believe it damages enemies too. Or you can from stealth toss out some vicious carnivores cabbages that will cause mayhem that never gets old to watch. Toss a plant that acts as a stationary magic firing ally. The various potions and flora at your disposal can make an otherwise tough fight a lot less tough.

    There are many things you can do without breaking stealth including casting some spells, tossing out flora friends and I think you can drink potions too. As for the gameplay and story… it is amazing! Been a while since I have seen such a polished game upon release. The flow of the game is amazing as everything seems connected. For example I thought the base building and animal husbandry would be boring filler. Instead items received by caring for the animals was used to make upgrades to my armor. Another example are some side tasks that do things like expand your inventory for doing so.

    Minor gripes.

    Seen many beds, but never seen anyone sleeping in them. Perhaps they turn themselves invisible then levitate above their beds wrapped in a cloak of invisibility?! A save bug caused me to lose an hour and a half of gameplay. When doing a manual save it should take three seconds or so. If it takes a lot longer then probably best to exit the game and reload the last save.

    All in all one of the best games I have ever played. An exceptional level of detail and polish make this game perhaps one of the greats.    … Expand

    I do not usually play single player games, but so far I have had a ton of fun with this game. I do not really consider very many things outside of the game. Just from a perspective of "did I have fun playing the video game?" yes, very much so. There is a ton of content to explore, there are a ton of other great features about the game, and it's great.

    My game of the year! The gameplay is fun, the story is really good, the characters are great, I really like the rpg elements. The gear grind gets a bit old, and the open world stuff does aswell. I'm not a big Harry Potter fan buy enough of one to where it spices up the open world enough so I'm not falling off of the game due to openworld fatigue.

    About 2 hours in, and I'm loving it. Not a huge Harry Potter fan, but am very much into this game . Great game mechanics, fun storyline and some good puzzles. Great RPG.

    Don't listen to reviews that's are based on anything but the game. I've completed this game with over 40 hours played and it's absolutely a game of year contender. Open world filler content is done perfect and Ubisoft could learn a lot . Story is good and combat is perfect. Secrets are great.try for yourself . Loved it.

    One of the best games I have ever played (my favourite games are Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, AC Origins). I like the whole Hoghwarts word, the graphic part and I never thought that spell fights are going to be such fun ;)

    Game is great, didnt have so much fun exploring since TES IV. I can only imagine what 1-2 patches maybe an addon can add on top to a already very good playerexperience.

    Also would love to explore this world on a PS VR2 in the future !!

    This game hits harder than my dad's belt. The amount of content in this game outnumber the human population. The bugs in this game are almost nonexistent. I'd rather play this than live in a mansion in California.

    It's been a while since I've found a game were I'm not skipping the dialogue and the hours fly by. The game reminds me of Fable meets Syberia. Haha I'm level 17 and I haven't even really started the main quests yet.. main quests I'm on recommends level 4. The world is quite large.

    I was debating between a 10 and a 9, but I decided to go with a 10 simply because this is the first game I have played in a long time that I felt was finished. I haven't had any game breaking bugs, only texture drops and weird physics after cutscenes. They put some love into the art direction of this game, and that beats a lot of the negatives imo. It feels immersive, and the sound is topI was debating between a 10 and a 9, but I decided to go with a 10 simply because this is the first game I have played in a long time that I felt was finished. I haven't had any game breaking bugs, only texture drops and weird physics after cutscenes. They put some love into the art direction of this game, and that beats a lot of the negatives imo. Я принципиально против что бы ЛГБТ лезли в мою жизнь, что бы они диктовали разработчикам какие игры они должны делать, я против сцен однополой любви в играх, которые я играю. Почему меня и моих детей заставляют это смотреть? Я в таком случае хочу что бы на играх писали что есть сценыИгра просто шикарная.     Maravilloso, buenos gráficos, muchísimos detalles tanto adentro como afuera del castillo, un buen de misiones que completar y con varías opciones de gráficos para elegir (4K, 60 fps, Ray tracing etc)

    Amazing game. Negatives are voice for male character sounds robotic and the loot disappears if you have a full inventory. Love this game beyond those two things.

I'm loving every single minute I spend in this game, love how classes/missions are structured, you get to unlock new spells by completing assignments which can be quite entertaining and offer a bit of a challenge, at the end of these assignments, talking to a professor to learn the spell feelsThis is THE Harry Potter game I have always dreamed about, and it isn't even about Harry himself. The graphics are insane, it doesn't focus on hyperrealism, but it isn't cartoonish neither, it just feels right. It isn't only the school that looks beautiful, but the surrounding area as well, which is quite big, something I wasn't expecting at all when the game was first announced.     Hogwarts Legacy is littered with small niggles which, when stacked together, make the game feel like it was released over a decade ago. While the castle is a large enough area to explore, the monotony of repeating quests and tasks makes the game feel last-generation and boring over time. Hogwarts Legacy could already use some DLC's in order to expand the size of the world, add more complex spells, and introduce a wider array of enemies. If you are a power-nerd looking for a new and complete RPG, you will have to wait for Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, coming in April 2023. While most critics agree that Hogwarts Legacy is near perfect, due to the incomplete feeling of the game and lack of a solid story arc, it feels more Muggle than magic.

    Hogwarts Legacy is an extremely fun adventure, despite having some graphic and narrative difficulties. In the vast open world, which makes it possible to explore popular locations and live like a typical Hogwarts student, you will face interesting challenges in the path of unraveling the main mystery of the game. Even though it's an exciting adventure, even a muggle like me manages, at a certain point, to miss a greater magic to deliver everything that the fans expected.
