Helldivers 2 on Xbox is more than just a port; it’s a chance for new players to experience one of the wildest, most unpredictable co-op shooters out there. It’s not perfect: UI issues, glitchy dropships and mission objectives, and the live-service trappings might not sit well with everyone. But in the right conditions, with the right squad, it’s one of the most fun experiences you can have on the console.

Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series X|S is a strong port that finally lets Xbox players enjoy the acclaimed co-op shooter—and a long-overdue taste of LiberTEA.

If you’ve been tempted to try Helldivers 2, regardless of whether you opt for the new Xbox version or not. Now is a great time to dive in. Player counts are way up, and there are tons of players, both new and old, to team up with and drive back the enemies of managed democracy. It certainly needs to rein in the paid content, or, at the very least, make it easier to obtain for players who don’t have more than $100 to drop on extra gear, but at its core, there’s still a fantastic cooperative experience full of satisfying firefights and huge explosions. Did I mention the explosions?

If you’ve never played Helldivers 2, the game is now somehow even more fun than it was last year. A third enemy faction, new vehicles and mechs, a ton of new guns and customization options make it feel much more fleshed out than it was when dropping in at launch. With that comes some minor issues, however, many of which could be fixed with some kind of cross-save functionality. Still, if you’ve not enlisted to defend Super Earth yet, it’s time to do your part.

Helldivers can also show off all its strengths on the Xbox - that's how it should be.

In short, just like it was at launch, Helldivers 2 is a fantastic video game, one on which you can hop on for quick mission to just complete a daily objective, or team up with your besties as you settle in for a long night of patriotism, comradery and impromptu comedy when that misplaced airstrike hits. It’s pure, unadulterated chaos, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

A chaotic and hilarious co-op shooter with strategic depth, constant updates, and strong personality, though its modest graphics and Xbox performance drops hold it back slightly compared to PS5.

Helldivers 2 still got it: a year and a half after its release, Arrowhead's shooter is still extremely fun to play. A little less so to master. The sparse tutorial serves more as a metaphor for military inefficiency than an introduction to the game, but fortunately for Helldivers 2, there are still some players willing to help on the battlefield. The game brings with it the strengths and weaknesses of its PS5 counterpart on Xbox, and today the former still far outnumber the latter.

Helldivers 2 is still today a chaotic, hilarious, and addictive cooperative shooter, one that shines thanks to finely polished gameplay and a commendable business model. Despite a technical side that isn’t flawless and a potential repetitiveness in the long run, Arrowhead’s work stands as one of the most genuine and entertaining multiplayer experiences available on the market—and now also on Xbox Series X|S.

Helldivers 2 is an increasingly rare live service success story that leans into what it does best on the ground and makes quick missions fun and easy to play.

It’s a new era, seeing a Sony game on Xbox, and a good one at that. Helldivers 2 delivers tense battles, rewarding progression, and a strong sense of community. Whether with friends or random players, it’s a consistently fun experience.

Helldivers 2 is a solid and hilarious co-op shooter, offering explosive moments especially when played with friends. While it can become repetitive when played solo and lacks cross-progression, its satirical take on propaganda and its budget price make it an excellent value and a must-try for fans of cooperative action.

HELLDIVERS 2 on Xbox Series X is a triumph of co-op design featuring resourceful, percussive, and dangerously fun gameplay. The missions strike a sweet balance of duration and intensity, loadouts reward experimentation, and team synergy just works. But it’s not flawless.

Imbued with a similarly offbeat humour as Starship Troopers and just as gleefully silly and violent, Helldivers 2 also happens to be a fantastic bug blasting co-op shooter, whether played with friends or strangers. It's a thing of beauty.
