While the experience is enjoyable and fun, FBC: Firebreak raises serious questions about its long-term prospects once the wave of its debut passes.

Don’t come into this one as a time-poor player, as FBC: Firebreak just doesn’t do enough to reward the casual ones out there.

I didn’t hate FBC: Firebreak at all, in fact I rather enjoyed my time running through its jobs with my friends; even if we had seen everything the game offers after the first day. But Firebreak isn’t a perfect game, it has a lot of issues, especially with the balance and the constant disconnections which for an online-only game is utterly unacceptable in my opinion. The good news is that all these issues can be fixed, but if I’m honest; I miss the days when players could buy a game, take it home and play it with no issues from start to finish, I know digital is the way but it shouldn’t make these developers dependent on the ‘patch’ crutch. I don’t know, just an ‘old man shouting at clouds’ I guess but FBC: Firebreak is fun to play as long as you have a solid team and temper your expectations.

FBC: Firebreak is a proposal that, while technically competent, fails to capture the magic that defined Control. Its gameplay loop is repetitive, its progression frustrating and its setting bland. While there are moments of fun mayhem and certain clever mechanical ideas, they are not enough to sustain a multiplayer experience that, in a saturated market, needs much more to stand out. In its current state, it's a game that may entertain a couple of afternoons with friends, but will be forgotten just as quickly if Remedy doesn't do something to ‘remedy’ it.
