This game is literally a disaster. I was like 'okay, finally a Caribbean island, a Cuba-like playground, I will buy it anyway'. I was even defending this game first, as I saw some improvements to old mechanics, such as scouted enemy stats. But after a few hours, I am stuck, totally lost my mood because of 20-year-old problems.

But after a few hours, I am stuck, totally lost my mood because of 20-year-old problems.

I can't make progress, because stupid NPCs are messing up everything in every 10 minutes. Actually, stealth is not an option, because someone is showing up and alert the whole facility. I am unable to scout, because AI characters are walking into front of my camera, and when I'm trying to be clever and swim around, they rush into the army to mess it up. The whole game is about a militarized regime, but there are no ammo stashes to steal. There are no necessary checkpoints during long missions, regardless I fail something because of my own mistake or because of the poor game design, I have to start from the beginning, even the scouting. I am really in the early part of the story, so judging it would be not representative, and this one may change, but for now after 12 hours, Castillo seems to be the weakest villain of all Far Cry games with zero motivation and the act is pathetic.

I wanted to play this game at all matters because of the setting, I trusted Ubisoft after the surprisingly good atmosphere of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but in the end, I regret I have bought this game. :/ I loved Far Cry 4 and Primal, but skipped Far Cry 5 and New Dawn because of stupid ideas and nonsense contents. Really should remember and warn myself to not buy a Far Cry game anymore.

Far Cry 6 is a 20 hour ffirst person shooter where you play as either male or female version of Dani Rojas because ubisoft cant commit to a story.. and this is ultimately Far Cry 6’s downfall, at first I was in love with Far Cry 6, having a Far Cry 3 feel.. the beginning island was so detailed and memorable, Iwas having a blas doing the beginning missions, and then the game opened up about 3 hours or so in and wow did it feel like the soul left the body of this game.. here your goal is to take down el president Anton Castillo, and much like the previous far cry game, to get to him you have to take down targets around him to expose him for an attack.. however unlike Far Cry 5, nothing o nyour journey to take him down stood out…
Far Cry 6 reminding me a lot of Just cause 3, in that while youre in this massive world, everything felt pretty cookie cutter generic.. and unlike just cause 3 the weapons weren’t crazy enough to keep fully entertained and there weren’t great story pieces pulling me through… just the same stuff over and over again, get to the spot on the map, deal with checkpoint along the way, take them over for future fast travl points, get back to the mission, kill all the people there.. thankfully youll unlock pets such as a crocodile or puppy to help along the way to attack and distract, but kill all the nemies, or find a key card so you can enter a building to throw a switch, or kill al the enemies and hack a computer which is just you guarding It while a percentage meter fills, over and over and over.. again no great story piece or story telling within the actual campaign except maybe couple of times.. really exposing the games bloat, I felt like I was doing side missions through most of the campaign.. I know box numbers are imorptant to people spending 60 to 70 dollars on a game, I get that.. but I would prefer and epic 12 hours over a mediocre repetitive 20.. I would even be fine having to level up to unlock those story missions and feel an urge to liberate the island and find weapons, if the grind didn’t feel obnoxious and get in the way of my play… maybe I have to capture a certain amount of enemy bases… if that means I get some story missions with some effort rather than feel like an algorithm developed the game.. Ill take it…
Overall Far Cry 6 had its moments that made me laugh or moments of me actually having fun, but for the most part I felt lke I was just going through the motions of a soulless shooter, chasing credits rather than chasing the next epic event around the next corner..
Far Cry 6 is a good shooter, it is brimming with things to do and weapons to find, you can even play with friends… but wow does this game do nothing memorable.

Best Far Cry game since Far Cry 3, but not many improvements. It's not that different to Far Cry 4 and Far Cry 5. The gameplay is somewhat fun and the story is okay, but it's clear that this game is just the same as before.

But there's also some critical things that they either added or excised from the game that impede the experience. The biggest one, by far, is the infinitely respawning enemies. That's right - in an open world shooter with capture-the-flag style elements, they have infinite enemy respawns. I'm not talking about, for example, you clear a check point and come back after one game day and it's repopulated. I'm saying that you'll enter large bases to retrieve a trinket, or whatever, and it will literally not be possible to clear the base because the enemies will literally not stop respawning. If you're like me, your preference is to murder all the NPCs and then leisurely saunter about the installation, plundering corpses and bins along the way. Perhaps you'll find a secret hiding spot, etc., and otherwise feel accomplished in knowing that you explored every nook and cranny of the developer's creation. Welp, I promise you won't be doing that here.

You see, not only do the enemies infinitely respawn, they're dead-on accurate with nearly every shot they take. When they've got you in their sights, they WILL hit you, and all you can do is run. Oh, oh, oh! Their range is so good that you have to run approximately two football fields away from them. Guess what happens when you do that? Mass respawning commences (I'm not talking about reinforcements, which are a thing, but a pointless one because of the respawning, which makes reinforcements a foregone conclusion in almost all firefights). This is because the game thinks you've left the area (which you literally did, but what the game thinks is the "area" versus what you think is the "area" are two very different things).

inb4, "git gud," that's not a thing here - I'm adept at headshotting with the M-16 with the 4X ACOG, but once they've got you in their sights, you're getting PELTED, and there's no way you're going to be able to line-up the shots on the count of your character jerking around and whatnot. Also, you're usually hit from all sides. So you've really gotta' go stealthy here, which is not unlike other Far Cry games. The main difference, as thoroughly stated above, is that the enemies don't stop.

Apart from that, hunting's not a thing anymore. I mean, it's there, but you don't make stuff out of the pelts. Fishing's back, too, but, again, it's merely a mechanism to get parts for your guns or make food for "buffs," or whatever. You basically kill animals to sell their flesh in exchange for trinkets and recipes, etc. It sucks, tbh.

People complain about the plot, but I think the plot is probably the best in the whole series. The other plot lines didn't make any sense. Far Cry 1's was pants-on-head stupid. I don't remember much about that game, but wasn't I battling monsters at some point? Far Cry 2's was much better, but the whole malaria thing, I dunno...That was probably the best one in the series, but the plot was a bit weak. Far Cry 3 is when they introduced magic and the supernatural (or intense drug abuse, or whatever TF), same goes for Far Cry 4. Far Cry 5 was too short, but the plot was the second best. Far Cry 6's is the most engrossing plot in that you're basically fighting a war against an oppressive Gov't. A lot of people don't like this because the Gov't is Fascist and perhaps they identify as Fascist, but if they made it Communist, then it would be point-to-point exactly like Cuba, and they were trying to provide enough distinctions to claim plausible deniability in that regard. Hence, Fascist rather than Communist.

Apart from that, the graphics are good, the voice acting is good, and the world is like the other ones. I like the world in Far Cry 5 the best, I believe. This one is a bit like Far Cry 3, but maybe less colorful.

FC5 wasn’t a perfect game, but it did really nail a sense of freedom, this game is a step back in that area. This game is similar to FC:ND in that there is a progression system with enemies and weapons. This game is also inundated with useless gear.

It looks nice (but I honestly expected better on the Series X) and the gun play is excellent – so long as you happen have the right ammo type in your gun. Otherwise enemies are just bullet sponges.

The only thing I like better in this game than FC5 is that the protagonist is voiced.

    Wait for a sale.

Gunplay is fun in a 2012's FC3 kind of way, its also fun when Dani sings along to the radio. Sadly fun has been placed above function and this is where Ubi misses the mark.

I knew from preview footage that little had changed from previous far cry titles but once the initial impact of the new settings fades, things quickly became perfunctory, realising you are playing yet another classic ubisoft™ open world time wasting title. As with some of the other more offensively time wasting open world titles FC6 is RIDDLED with many repetitive short quests and objectives only there to drain your time.

I really wish publishers would stop pressuring their game studios into creating bloated gaming experiences and instead craft something more tailored and unique. I like to imagine an 8 hour version of this with tight impactful gunplay and sequences, a gripping storyline and dramatic interactive cutscenes that allow us to feel the emotional impact of Libertads eventual subjugation of Yara's dictator. Please allow the creators to create!

Almost all opportunities to have any kind of dramatic storyline or impactful gameplay sequences have been squandered at the expense of just trying to create 'meme' worthy moments with a focus on ridiculous dialogue, animal companions and silly homebrew 'super' weapons instead of revitalising the gameplay from previous entries.

Ultimately, I just switched my brain off, rushed from yellow main quest blip to blip and traded this in for cash before it quickly devalued. Don't mis-understand this is still an okay, very playable open world gaming experience but it really is just far cry 3 V2.3 Definitely 10x more fun when playing in co-op it must be said.

    story

I played the female Dani and I can say that I really liked her as a protagonist. The idea of the revolution was also conveyed quite well, although I have to say that in some places it drags on too much and the development of the revolution doesn't feel as organically told anymore.

In terms of mission structure, it's more of a piecework of different factions lined up one after the other, with which you then set your revolution in motion, I would have wished for a better flow into each other here.

On the other hand, I can say that there were some really blatant scenes that I wouldn't have believed Ubisoft capable of, it's more mature and these scenes are also really well done. The characters themselves, apart from a few exceptions, didn't "grow to my heart", especially this music group was a real cramp.

    gameplay

You can try out many weapons, mod them and use various gadgets. In addition, brute action or quietly eliminating the opponent show you enough alternatives. Especially the interesting gadgets and the cool animal companions were fun. Unfortunately, the AI was pretty boring, sometimes stupid and there were always the same enemy types. I would have liked more variety, but you get that in some crossover quests.

The Stranger Things or Machete Kills crossover was phenomenally well done and are absolute highlights in the game.

Otherwise you have the typical Ubisoft gameplay formula, conquering bases, switching off bases, intercepting supply drops and much more. consists. You always have fun with it for a certain amount of time, and the puzzles in particular were pretty nice, but then it levels off and at some point it no longer motivates you.

There were also a few weapon skins to be earned, but sometimes I would have liked the option of a third-person view.

    graphic

It's okay, but it didn't blow me away. It looks too outdated for that. Ubisoft has to step it up a notch here, just normal opponents or passers-by don't look really good. It also has a washed-out look in some places.

In terms of atmosphere, one had noticed a lot from Yara and the Yaraners, the idea of revolution was also shown and presented in many places.

I just missed the WOW factor here.

    Conclusion

I liked part 5 better, kinda hooked me more. Giancarlo Esposito had some cool moments, but that wasn't enough for me. Good game, typically Ubisoft and sometimes too long. Some faction sections stretch like chewing gum. 7/10 Yarans.

Weird useless mods that are available with all weapons, like headshot bonus on a rocket launcher, instead of mods that would really improve that specific weapon. Lazy programming. For the special ops missions you have to be online, you can't quick resume even if you play single, you have to start it all over again. Frustrating missions anyway, transporting some overheated device from one water source to the other. What else is bad? Characters. Unlikable rapper-teenagers with horrible rap music. Some fat gay guy that is in love with you? WTF? The only time I had fun was when I shot him in the face and he started crawling on the ground whining. Every woman in the game is tough as nails. Femininity is gone I guess. This is worse than Neil Druckmans games. At least the gameplay in TLOU is great. Performance is abismal with constant screen tearing, even on 1080p with VRR on a Sony.

The latest entry in the Far Cry series brought many little joys, great performance by Giancarlo Esposito and beautiful tropical environments. Alas, it is annoying and disappointing in too many aspects. The story should have been approached more seriously, Yara is not a believable world and some of its areas are empty, while the gameplay suffers from copy-pasted assets and bugs that shouldn’t pollute a game from such an experienced developer. Overall, Far Cry 6 is a letdown. [12/2021, p.26]

This feels like a far more honest take on what Far Cry is to most people: a joyful, chaotic toybox. There’s room for improvement – the questionable Latin American representation, for a start – but there’s no doubt this is something of an awakening for the series, exploring ideas I’m excited to see refined in iterations to come. In particular, doing away with the cumbersome pretence of political salvation leaves you free to pick and choose your own adventure, whether that’s toppling Castillo or just being crowned Gran Primo champion. Like Yara, Far Cry 6 is brimming with potential – you just have to step up and shape it.
