Empire of the Ants is an excellent game. This is one of those games that seemingly come out of nowhere but will likely be a beloved favourite for many gamers for years to come. While a lot of these gameplay aspects have been seen before in other games, the way they’re included here, through the eyes of an ant, can be quite unique. The visuals are outstanding and the music is brilliant. There are some challenges with controls and the camera, especially in confined spaces or when your ant is upside-down. And unfortunately, I didn’t get an opportunity to experience the multiplayer aspects. Fortunately, the single-player experience is overall so well done that I’d consider the multiplayer mode a nice bonus more than anything. If you’re looking for a unique gaming real-time strategy experience, then you really can’t go wrong with Empire of the Ants.

Many times those of us who have been in this world for several decades complain about the lack of originality and the constant reuse of old resources, well; Empire of the Ants is a truly original work despite the fact that the novel had already had a delivery in 2000 on PC, of very little popularity, but not even close to the level of realism and detail that is shown on this occasion. I know the game will sound strange to you even after reading the review, but if you like real-time strategy titles, this game will be one of your favorites of the year . Don't miss it under any circumstances.

While Empire of the Ants may be a watered down basic RTS game at its core, the flipside to that means that it's more approachable for those that aren’t generally into the genre like myself. RTS enthusiasts will surely want more than what’s offered from a gameplay perspective, but I quite enjoyed the simplistic and streamlined take. While I generally don’t want my games to have thousands of bugs, Empire of the Ants is an exception.

Ants may be tiny to us, but they live in their very own world with their own problems, dangers and challenges. Empire of the Ants conveys this feeling quite well and I am glad that there is a game that shows this perspective.

Whether you’re managing resources, planning tactical maneuvers, or simply exploring the detailed environments, Empire of Ants offers a unique gaming experience but with this year already seeing big strategy games drop; I hope this one doesn’t get lost on the hill.

Empire of the Ants will probably exceed your expectations - you will be pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of a story campaign, RTS gameplay, and multiplayer options. The ambition of the game is commendable, and the RTS mechanics are well-implemented.

It is interesting to see how a game can be presented in such an original way. A strategy game, with ants, using Unreal Engine 5 and offering an amazing spectacle on PC and consoles, with brilliant performance. A different, immersive experience that can serve both new users of the genre and veterans alike.

If there was one thing to make an RTS game out of it would be ants and bugs! To me, it made a lot of sense and I’m glad we not only have that, but we have that in an absolutely stunning way. This game is one of the best-looking games which I think helps it tremendously. The game isn’t bad itself, but it can be slow at times so making it nice to look at is really great. Top that with a controller layout that works pretty well, and you have a good RTS on console which is not an easy feat. Empire of the Ants is a pleasant experience that RTS fans should not look past.

Empire of the Ants is a strange blend of RPG and RTS action. However, it is the ultrarealistic world and the phenomenal audio that makes this shine. Though the camera angle was occasionally horrible, I enjoyed the variety of missions and the interesting but flawed story.

Empire of the Ants is a visual masterpiece based on the 1991 sci-fi book by Bernard Werber, but its streamlined RTS gameplay may be too limited for hardcore fans of the genre. The game is approachable for newbies or those who do not want to hassle with elaborate strategic maneuvers, and it offers additional gameplay via the hub, world exploration, and a surprising amount of platforming.

After a meticulous dissection of The Ants, we can conclude that the experience of following the footprints of these insects is no small feat. The different levels offer an immersion into the heart of the infinitely small that hits the bullseye. There are even a few butterflies in our stomachs when we think of the combat possibilities offered by the multiplayer modes. However, the problems with the camera make us wonder about the target audience for this adventure. The on-screen instructions are apparently written for ants, and it is often difficult to get your bearings properly due to a lack of legibility. We therefore recommend the title to curious and patient minds, or to those who are a little “boar-ed”!
