Oct 28, 2024BioWare took the time they needed to bring Dragon Age fans the perfect RPG experience. From style to story and everything in between, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is everything I wanted from this entry in the Dragon Age universe.

Oct 28, 2024Dragon Age: The Veilguard isn’t just in my Game of the Year rankings, it’s in my Best Games of All Time. BioWare has finally matched their recent excellent third-person combat with some of, if not their best, story work to date. This game is an absolute triumph for those old and new to the series.

Nov 22, 2024Dragon Age: The Veilguard vaults over the seemingly daunting task of exceeding player expectations by delivering one of the best action RPGs of all time.

Nov 18, 2024Dragon Age: The Veilguard is exactly what I wanted from a Dragon Age game. I just wish I didn’t have to wait 10 years for it. It ticks all the boxes for me in that it has a great story to tell, there are tough decisions to make, the voice acting is great and the gameplay is enjoyable. My only gripe was that my rogue playthrough involved a lot of evading but that was my choice and it only makes me want to play it through again as a different class.

Nov 12, 2024Dragon Age: The Veilguard is an excellent game. It's a massive and immersive experience, with a compelling story, stunning visuals, and satisfying combat. While a few graphical glitches are present, they don't detract significantly from the overall experience.

Oct 28, 2024Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a triumphant return to form for BioWare. This is a top-class action-RPG that lives up to the Dragon-Age name whilst laying to rest the ghosts of Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. With a roster of amazing companions to recruit, a mind-bending world full of exquisite regions to explore, and combat that raises the bar in every possible way for the franchise, this is the good stuff, thank you very much. We were worried, for sure — it's been a long time since the glory of Inquisition — but we've been served a follow-up here that improves on 2014's game in every way - and that's really saying something. How very exciting.
-
Nov 12, 2024Above all, Veilguard is Dragon Age in its purest form , a single-player game with stunning visuals that create a unique and vibrant fantasy world. A game that is more reminiscent of Dragon Age II mixed with the scale and epicness of Inquisition and that brings its own legacy with a fresh, fast and frenetic combat system. In short, a combination that leaves us with a remarkable title.

Nov 12, 2024In a lot of respects, The Veilguard is a vastly superior game when compared to Inquisition, but gone are the days that Dragon Age is a truly deep and innovative RPG. It's definitely more action than RPG these days, which is truly a shame. Nonetheless, it’s a pretty impressive package easily worth the price of entry.

Oct 28, 2024Bioware is back, and while they're not reinventing the wheel here, they've made exactly the game we wanted them to make. An exclusively single-player RPG that is narratively anchored, far more linear, with all the content tailored and organised by skilled designers and without all the "bloat" that many have criticised Starfield for consisting of. What you have here is lean and mean, and it puts Bioware on an exciting trajectory where it's finally possible to see light at the end of the very dark tunnel they've been in for a long, long while. It's not a perfect RPG, but it's... pretty damn good, to say the least.

Nov 17, 2024BioWare was facing an impossible mission, but with Dragon Age: The Veilguard has brought to life a game which knows what it wants to be. Maybe the execution doesn't pair with the fans wishes, but this return to the fantasy franchise is entertaining and visually spectacular. The biggest flaw is an inconsistent pace because of its large length.
-
Nov 24, 2024Dragon Age: The Veilguard shows a BioWare that wants to return to telling great single-player stories and taking us to fantastic places, but it only partially succeeds due to limited combat, a narrative with significant quality shortcomings compared to the past, and a technical aspect that suffers from the various identity changes the game has undergone over the years. Nevertheless, the new Dragon Age still remains fun to play, enticing to explore, and brimming with riches to experience and discover; thus, it deserves a chance from gamers.

Oct 28, 2024These first 40 hours with Veilguard were a slow burn, and I liked the change of pace. Unlike the other games with big, explosive beginnings — literally, in Inquisition’s case — Veilguard took the time to build a world around me before shattering it just as I was getting comfortable. Now, the game really starts.

Nov 7, 2024Dragon Age: The Veilguard marks BioWare’s return to immersive, polished storytelling that anchors the quality of dialogue and interaction at the heart of the experience. Although the title moves away from the RPG foundations of the first instalments in favour of a tenaciously action-oriented approach, the balance between intensity and moments of lightness is well orchestrated. The semi-open world and art direction add a touch of magic and adventure that is highly enjoyable. The environments and characters, enriched by companion quests and sub-plots, create a vibrant universe. On the other hand, the choice of an action-oriented gameplay, to the detriment of the RPG elements of the first episodes, could destabilise fans of more classic RPGs. This shift towards a more accessible and intense adventure, despite a few redundancies, gives the game its own identity, where epic sequences and more intimate moments come together skilfully. The Veilguard is a solid addition to the Dragon Age universe, ready to appeal to loyal fans of the series and new explorers alike.
