Oct 2, 2024This “Rebrush” of Epic Mickey paints a successful picture for the iconic mouse, simultaneously celebrating the brilliance of the original game, whilst lifting it up to modern videogame standards in what is a really beautiful remake that is delicious to look at. If you squint, you may find undesirable remnants from its original existence on the Wii, but otherwise Epic Mickey is preserved and improved lovingly here. The reworked controls, revamped visuals, and the numerous ways Purple Lamp have refurbished Epic Mickey shows you the true love the developers have for what they’ve created, and it shines through in just about every way. Platforming can be a tad stodgy at times, and the morality system is a bust, but otherwise this is a real treat for fans of the original game, and an even bigger treat for new audiences, so go and give this gem a shot and you should fall in love with its painterly aesthetic without it wearing thin.

Without a doubt, it has been a wonderful experience and I recommend giving it a chance, since it deserves it and is available on your Xbox.

Sep 24, 2024Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is an excellent remaster of one of the Wii’s best games. It fixes its shortcomings, adds to it with quality-of-life changes, and most importantly makes it available to all on modern platforms. Rebrushed does a good job being both a 3D platformer and a narrative driven-adventure title, sprinkled in with a lot of love for old Disney animation—a fun, unique adventure game for all.

Sep 25, 2024It’s in terms of the visuals where Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed excels, especially in the remastering, fidelity and colour. Disney fans will have a blast, yet even though it’s enjoyable, the gameplay does feel a bit old-fashioned.

Sep 23, 2024The original Disney Epic Mickey was a good game that evidently suffered from an issue or two on the Wii, and those have been successfully thinned and repainted in Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed. We're really impressed by just how much effort has gone into this remake (especially the new visuals), and although it's arguably a bit too pricey at launch, there's definitely fun to be had with this one if you're a Disney fan or just a fan of platforming games in general.

Whether you’re revisiting or experiencing it for the first time like I did, Mickey’s artistic journey is one worth taking.

More attention to the technical aspect, the introduction of more modern mechanics and the presence of extended voice acting would have allowed it to reach higher heights, but as it is, it remains a highly recommended adventure.

Oct 7, 2024Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is an adventure that will appeal to a wide audience. The various levels are rendered in a style worthy of the famous firm's animated productions, with the backdrop of a fine tribute to characters forgotten by time. We have more reservations about the form of this version, which doesn't match up to its stated objectives. The main additions to the gameplay do nothing to correct the shortcomings of the basic game. After a few hours, we're even seeing cracks in the overall picture due to haphazard jumps or inaccurate shooting. The title still lacks a little gouache to become a true masterpiece...
