Jun 24, 2026Dead or Alive 6 Last Round confirms itself as a good fighting game: fluid, responsive, and capable of entertaining the player for hours on end, especially in single-player. We've always found the combat system to be satisfying, especially since it implements a different formula than other exponents of the genre, based on the ingenious Triangle System. However, the "next-gen" port feels a bit rushed, lazy in some ways, and doesn't bring any concrete innovations in terms of gameplay, aside from an overall improvement in fluidity and the inclusion of a photo mode (a nice addition, but not particularly innovative). The lack of rollback netcode (perhaps for purely technical reasons) and cross-play didn't convince us: we believe an updated version should at least take into account the genre's key elements in 2026, to be in top form on the competitive scene. Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is still a great fighting game that will be supported by the developers themselves, or at least until the new installment, already in development, arrives on the market. And then we expect great things from the Dead or Alive franchise.

Jun 24, 2026In a vacuum, Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is a perfectly playable version of a perfectly fine fighter, but it’s still a somewhat underwhelming package all in all. Not quite enough improvements to reignite the interest around the base game, and also plenty of baffling limitations end up weighing a ton on the overall experience – one that only hardcore Dead or Alive fans might bother with.

Jun 26, 2026Dead or Alive 6: Last Round means a well valued package for hardcore fans to enjoy the latest entry they probably own already, but on newer hardware. And little more. Even if accessible and unique, the combat system feels even more outdated after seven years, and the same can be said about cutscenes, narrative, graphics, animation, and pretty much everything else.

Jun 24, 2026Dead or Alive 6 remains a perfectly solid and enjoyable fighter with a decent smattering of modes and options, as well as engaging mechanics, though it pales in comparison next to its competitors. This Last Round version also adds next to nothing that’s new, however, so if you’ve already rinsed the 2019 original, there’s no real reason to upgrade.
