Dawn of the Monsters successfully manages to reproduce the feeling of kaijus and big robot fights, but it doesn't add anything new to the genre's tropes, falling in a bit uninspired and repetitive gameplay.

An absolute love letter to the Kaiju eiga of old, this side scrolling beat-em-up has you take control of one of four city stomping behemothsAn absolute love letter to the Kaiju eiga of old, this side scrolling beat-em-up has you take control of one of four city stomping behemoths (2 Kaiju clearly based on Godzilla and Gamera, a Mecha with a name straight outta Pacific Rim, and a size changing superhero a-la Ultraman) clearing wave after wave of nasty beasties this world calls nephilim, with a big badass boss at the end of a series of stages set in cities around the world. The combat is extremely satisfying, and the destructible environments are an absolute treat. For 30 dollars, you can certainly do much worse! Highly recommended for any Kaiju, Tokusatsu, beat-em-up or even Anime fan (due to the games clear manga inspired art style). Full Review »
