BEST COD CAMPAIGN EVER! I'm not into online gaming, what I enjoy is a good explosive story like this one. Experienced it on XBX at 4k 60FPS RT is a total blast. The only thing that caught my eye is that sometimes the enemy combatant's AI behaves erratically, like they just run into the line of fire like dumb bots, it's not frequent, but it happens. The rest is a masterpiece all the way.  Expand

Most of these haters don't even know what they want. In fact i'm pretty sure, most of them don't even like cod games in general. They would hate even, if it was most perfect cod ever. Is Vanguard most perfect cod ever? Hell no. Is it awful tho? Far from it. Better than last two.

Only people who complain about this game, seem to be either salty bf fans or people with same argument "there's new cod every year". I mean, so what? If it's fun and well made, then what's the issue? This one is very solid, both single player and multiplayer. BF doesn't even have single player and multiplayer seems to be absolute fail.

I haven't liked any of them since 2013 or so, but i was bored, so i bought Vanguard and i'm honestly surprised. Campaign - I had a great time with the campaign, especially the sections with Polina Petrova. Laura Bailey delivers yet another fantastic performance and makes for another memorable character in the Call of Duty franchise. The story is compelling, but wasn't interesting enough to keep my attention throughout the entirety of it.

Multiplayer - This is the strongest multiplayer mode we've seen in Call of Duty out of the last few years. It's such an improvement over Cold War's multiplayer that I can't ever go back to it. Time to kill is quicker this time around and I'm all for it. Maps aren't designed around camping which forces everyone to get out there and fight, although camping is still possible, it isn't super effective this time around. There's a nice variety of multiplayer maps in this year's entry and I can't say I dislike any of them. The gunplay is extremely similar to MW 2019's as this game does use the same engine and retains the smooth and satisfying feeling the player gets with any of the weapons. All weapons are an absolute joy to use and I personally don't find any to be insanely overpowered in comparison to another.

Zombies - This year's Zombies mode is a disappointment in terms of overall content that released for it. It has been panned by a lot of player within the community for lack of the standard round based Zombies matches we're all so used to. Der Anfang borrows elements for last year's Zombies entry and slightly expands upon it. Perks are back and what's great about it is that the first upgrade for each perk is free. They can be upgraded four tiers total and each upgrade will cost an extra 2,500 essence. What's pretty strange is how much longer is takes to earn points. Killing zombies only gives you 20 points per kill, and 30 points per critical kill (headshot). You're meant to get the majority of your points through doing objectives. The different objectives are Blitz, Harvest, and Transmit. In Blitz the player is required to stay alive until the timer runs out as zombies rapidly spawn. In Harvest the player must collect five runestones from zombies and deposit them into a Sin Eater obelisk. You will do this three times before returning to the main area. Transmit requires the player to escort a floating head across a particular area while zombies attack and will receive points once the escort is completed successfully. Ultimately, Zombies is the weakest game mode out of the three in Call of Duty: Vanguard, but it's still a really enjoyable experience. I want round based Zombies to return too, but for now I'm fine with what we have.

Verdict: Call of Duty: Vanguard is a solid entry in the franchise and is a big improvement on a downgrade of 2019's Modern Warfare. Yes, it's super similar to MW 2019 as the two use the same game engine, however, I think Vanguard perfects the formula. I highly recommend this game to fans of first person shooters all around. I do see a lot of hate for this game going out by those who haven't even played it, referring to it as "just another game ruined by SBMM" and my advice is to ignore that and try it for yourself.

To me the general over arching storyline that is in it was done with past Call of Duty games in mind with including Nova 6 and Steiner but it also did a good job at showing a new side of WW2 that we didn’t get to see since 2004 in Call of Duty 2 with the African campaign as well as adding Pacific battles which brings us back to Call of Duty World at War which was an amazing WW2 title. In my opinion Vanguard is way better in every category then Call of Duty WW2 to me this was a breath of fresh air in the WW2 genre because it was done so well. Now yes there are some bugs I found while playing but they didn’t stand out or make me stop and question if buying this was the right choice. This franchise has changed a lot since then. Activision had some up and downs mixing different kind of settings during last decade. Some of the titles were great but some od them were just ok. Anyway we are here again to see what happened with this year instalment of COD.

I am not going to spoil anything, You have to try yourself to get opinion about this game. Short note for COD players:
    - Campaign is good but without extasy (no scary or jaw-dropping moments)
    - Multiplayer is funny and adorable as always (You can feel the same fun of shooting guns as usual, very close to Modern Warfare 2019)
    - Zombies are back again and… thats it, new story, new missions and waves of undead and a lot more.

Sledgehammer Games made a good game set and located in WWII history with the same feeling of previous COD games.

Is this a revolution in the series? Not. Is it the same good COD as always? Yes. Should you buy for yourself? The decision is yours - I bought it and I don't regret it.

Call of duty vanguard isn’t the best call of duty but I actually really love the direction they seem to be going with campaigns, this time about 6 hours which I think is a great length.. Vnguard sets out to tell a story of war heroes during world war 2, similar to the battlefield 1 campaign, youll go through each characters stories and it isn’t all just run and gun, there are some amazingly immersive moments here, great stealth sections through a forest, a section where youre a sniper, there are horror like moments keeping you on your toes as you go through buildings, did I love the characters themselves? Not so much, none were memorable to me, but I do appreciate the attempt to flesh them out, to create a series that players can look forward to.. the campaign again isn’t the best, but I did appreciate the effort here.. I appreciate the variety how each of thse 6 hours felt different…
And onto the multiplayer, first off, lets just skip over zombies, I don’t like zombis I never have and Ive heard this year is the worst yet, si I hopped right into multiplayer.. The multiplayer this time is pretty bare bones, but hey.. I actually like that.. I like the simplicity of pick a load out, use that gun to level it up, go through the typial team deathc match, capture the flag, search and destroy modes.. however the gunplay just isn’t fun for me this year, the maps are pretty bland as well.. I did have an enjoyable few hours with multiplayer but after a weekend of play times, there wasn’t enough to hook me in like past titles have..
Call of Duty anguard is a great call of duty game..
Will it quickly b forgotten the moment the next shiny multplayer shows up? Yes, this will not be a staple in your multiplayer collection, but for the time I spent with it, its pretty solid, especially the single player campaign,
I give Call of Duty Vanguard

Dog killstreaks are way to overpowered, dogs are literal bullet sponges and does one-hit kills. No Ground War this time, neither an alternative, which feels like a rip off. MVP voting system is wasting too much time, and having to watch the uninteresting operators with the animations is boring and annoying. I still have fun with the multiplayer, but I really miss long-range big battles like Ground War from MW.

Gampaign: Cool, entertaining, but superfical. Finetuning is missing. Stutterings and lags between loading areas. Enemies that shoot and kill me while being in a non-cancellable conversation with an NPC due to the main story. Enemies spawn in out of nowhere. Some enemies are infinite until you trigger a specific action. Enemy AI not taking cover. Corpses dissapear very fast. High quality cinematics and music.

Overall, its a WW2 reskin of MW that already had a good foundation. But it still needs finetuning and a Ground War alternative.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is a breath of fresh air. The first Call of Duty title with great multiplayer in many years. The game definitely needs some polishing, but I'm mostly very impressed and quite frankly surprised with how fun Vanguard really is. The campaign on the other hand, not so good. Solid entry.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It turns out that it was actually better than I expected at launch. The Beta was kinda null in certain points, but Sledgehammer Games actually listened to what we wanted in the game, and they did it. Various adjustments and additions, balances, visibility, and everything else in betweens. The superior IW 8.0 engine did show the beauty here, but there are some things that I need to pointed out.

(+3) Multiplayer at launch was better than I expected. Seems like they have tuned down their controversial and "rage-inducing" skill-based matchmaking (at least, from my perspective). Players are now rewarded more often and penalized less. A solid step-up from Black Ops: Cold War, where in that game, everything would not be able to go along together in the right direction.

(+1.5) SUPPORT BOTH NVIDIA DLSS AND AMD FIDELITYFX SUPER RESOLUTION.

(+1.5) Visiblity is an improvement here compared to Modern Warfare (2019). More colors are visible and you can still see characters in certain dark areas.

(+1) Maps were well-designed, with balances between "predictable lanes" and "encourage camping." They allowed for a more wider-range of engagement, dynamics and balance of gunfights. Covers and destructible environments make this even more intriguing.

(+0.5) Tons of settings to play around.

    (0) I wish the campaign was longer and go through the beginning of World War 2.

    (0) Despite using IW 8.0 engine. There are NO ray-tracing options in the game. A slight let down, but it really does not matter since a game like this demanded quick reaction and fast frames, and the game still look beautiful without ray-tracing.

    (0) Don't expect historical accuracy from this game.

(-0.5) No factions. This can cause confusions during an intense gunfight.

(-0.5) Sniper rifles take forever to aim. But I think they were intended to preserve their true roles to support from long range and not going in aggressively.

(-1) Grinds take too much time. Even with Double XPs enabled, you can level up your weapon on average - 3 to 4 levels per match.

(-1) Cheaters are in the game already! They got everything unlocked before they even play their first match! (Still not widespread, though.)
[New anti-cheat is coming. I hoped that it will deal a major blow to them.]

(-1) Some bugs were seen, hopefully they will fix them in the future.

(-3) Zombies were a let down. It feels unfinished for a reason.

Meh, feels like a re-skinned MW 2019 set in WW2. It bothers me that there are no factions. I am pleased with how many maps Sledgehammer released at launch. For the most part, the maps are good. I do appreciate the couple of remakes paying homage to WAW.

It is, for a few parts, very good; I found weapon customising very interesting as there's a lot to unlock, but hardly any of that is worth grinding out 70 levels for. The maps are interesting, and the graphics are strong. The issues are that, in classic COD fashion, one weapon class is so much stronger than the others that there is no reason to use those other weapons. The killstreaks are a little strong, not for damage per se but for how much they make the screen shake. I'll try to snipe and have my scope thrusted around every 4 seconds on shipment. As for campaign, I just don't care to try it, so this review is specifically for multiplayer. Zombies is technically an MP mode so I am including it. Long story short, (coming from a huge zombies fan) it is vile. This mode is horrid for every reason imaginable. So little content that I realized after completing all three objectives that I had done everything it had to offer, and exfilled on round 8 or something like that. I have one game played, and until (if is a better word) a round based arrives, it will stay one game. To conclude, Vangaurd is a solid game; the MP is fun and interesting, but just copies the MW formula and doesn't add anything. This is a huge issue but it's saved by the fact that almost everything about MW is a great game. All in all, the game is solid, but doesn;t try to change anything about the franchise. It is the first game where the argument "its the same game" actually works. So, 6/10, while being a bit generous, is the final verdict from me. Expand

    Positives
    - Polished
    - graphically sunning
    - good performances in the campaign
    - runs at a smooth 60.
    - generally fun

    Negatives
    - The multiplayer experience just is not on the level of a black ops or MW.
    - The campaign while fun has a boring story that feels aimed at casual gamers who like lots of cursing, bad humor, and explosions.
    - the progression is mid.
    - the hero shooter elements suck.
    - zombies is legit terrible but I am glad the option is there.

In a gaming industry where releasing broken, unfinished games with little content and few modes this breaks the mold, it just does nothing to stand out.

Call of Duty Vanguard is a fairly average shooter, it plays decently well and can be fun at times for sure. But I figure that it would be fairly easy to do for a company that has been spitting out one a year for the past 2 decades. If you like CoD you'll probably like it, if you hate CoD you'll probably hate it.
It's not historically accurate but I think everyone already knows that at this point. It doesn't honestly matter or really increase or devalue the game play, just a new coat of paint on the past handful of WW2 era shooters Activision has made. Multiplayer and Zombies is just more of the same, slightly better graphics and enough changes to label it "different".
But in all honesty if you're really considering this game and you already own Cold War and Modern Warfare and aren't a massive World War 2 enthusiast I would take a pass. It's not that the game is necessarily bad but to pay 60-80 bucks for it is just downright wasteful. If you don't own either Cold War or Modern Warfare there's definitely value in having the newest CoD. But if you can, I do recommend holding out for maybe some sort of sale (maybe it'll drop to 40 sometime in the next 10 years, thank you Activision). But seriously this is a hard pass otherwise. Hold out for next year's CoD this one is definitely gonna die off quick.

Somehow, the character models have not looked so plastic since the Xbox 360 and PS3 era. The characters in the campaign are boring and cookie cutter. I didn't care about what happened to any of them. The Nazis are overblown stereotypes and feel like they belong in a Wolfenstein game rather than a Call of Duty campaign. Call of Duty: Vanguard was a major disappointment and letdown for something that could have been so much more. I was hopeful that after the mediocre attempt of creating a boots-on-the-ground WWII shooter with CoD: WWII that Sledgehammer would be able to learn from their previous mistakes and release a truly amazing WWII shooter.
The promotional material for the game before its release only increased my hopefulness. Seeing how the campaign would apparently take place over multiple fronts. But unfortunately, for reasons explained below, these hopes were lost once the game was released and I started playing it.

First, campaign. It felt extremely disappointing, disconnected, unfinished, not interesting, and unmemorable. It felt more like a small expansion to the CoD: WWII campaign than its own separate and full campaign. None of the characters were particularly interesting and neither was the story. This meant I never really cared for any of the characters or their attempt to give their backstories. Nor was I particularly interested in the story.

Multiplayer wasn't exactly better. When I had originally played multiplayer with bots. There were many issues with its pathfinding on certain maps (getting stuck at certain sections.) Additionally, I was getting latency issues even though it was a private match with no other players.

Finally, Zombies. It was, like the rest of the game, a huge letdown. The idea of giving the zombies idea a new spin was interesting though it was executed terribly. Leading to many classic features that players have come to know and love being completely absent from the game. It was interesting and fun to play a few times but honestly, I prefer the more traditional style of zombies in previous installments.

Overall I would never recommend picking up Vanguard if you're looking for a good WWII shooter. If you really want a newer WWII shooter I would recommend picking up CoD: WWII instead with its much better story, multiplayer, and zombie game mode that is closer to the traditional style of zombies. I would also recommend getting CoD: World At War with its amazing story that introduces us to some memorable characters, an amazing multiplayer, and a classic zombies game mode (the first CoD to feature such game mode)

The biggest problem is CoD: Vanguard feels like the least innovative Call of Duty in years. I think a lot of that has to do with Warzone, and the fact that developers HAVE to ensure that their game can be compatible with that battle royale. The fact that so much has to go into making sure it all works together; I just feel like it has to be hampering the developer’s creativity. In my opinion Call of Duty as a whole need to take a year off and regroup, come back with something as memorable as the original Modern Warfare was when it launched. If it’s a matter of money (and I doubt that it is) developers could lean into Warzone, they already are making a killing on all the microtransactions but just update Warzone like Epic does for Fortnite. Then after a year surprise people with something fantastic… I know this will never happen, but a man can dream.
