I'm going to be honest, I set up an account on here, purely to review this game. I have now experienced the three components of the game in their entirety, completed the campaign on Veteran, completed the Die Maschine Easter Egg and have reached the the first prestige on multiplayer, so I would say that I have a fairly rounded experience across the game.

Firstly, the campaign. I have often found the Call of Duty games to be somewhat varied in the campaigns, even the more jaw-dropping ones such as MW2 and BO2 were still essentially A to B and occasionally point C whilst shooting enemies. The campaign of BOCW was quite fun for the most part, an interesting new character in the form of Russell Adler with a different take on letting the player take on the role of protagonist. The twists and turns felt quite typical for a Black Ops campaign with the different endings, optional side missions and hidden extras bringing in a welcome call back to Black Ops 2. The set pieces are quite fun and it was nice spending the campaign with the CIA as I quite liked the covert nature of a lot of the missions. The main downsides to this would be that even though it has a fair few missions, they felt quite short and that despite being in the advertising, Woods and Mason felt extremely absent from the game.

The zombies mode is a welcome sight, especially since the last instalment in Black Ops 4 was essentially a failure to launch a new story mode and a few remakes of old maps which left the season pass owners (myself) feeling quite cheated. This on the other hand, is a remake done right. Nacht der Untoten was one of the first quality experiences in modern wave based survival and to have a remake done to this scale allows it to take on a new life. The story mission feels easy to a point but is still enjoyable to a casual player and it is nice that it can be accomplished solo rather than previous entries making it nearly impossible. The ammo boxes make it easier to restock, the crafting bench with equipment and killstreaks feels a lot easier than finding parts to items scattered around the map. The new wonder weapon feels like a welcome call back to BO and BO2 and the boss zombies don't feel unfair. Overall a much nicer step in the right direction than BO4 tried. That being said, bringing back the Chaos story line could be quite interesting on the now current generation consoles as they really had some interesting locations to explore.

This brings us on to the multiplayer which I am sure many people have already vented their frustrations about the game and is certainly where the game falls in terms of quality, especially when compared to its previous generation predecessor. The balancing issues with the weapons essentially mean that in close quarters you need the MP5 and long distance you need either the M16 or AUG rifles. Score streaks feel like they take an age to unlock and when they do, most people are running Cold Blooded and Ghost which takes away their usefulness. The constant frame dropping and sometimes console crash make this multiplayer experience an absolute slog to find the one out of one-hundredth game that is actually enjoyable and feels fair. Playing other games on the Series X doesn't seem to bring about such issues, Gears 5 feels consistently smooth and has a fair matchmaking with constant frames. Granted it has been out a year longer but again, was running on last generation systems.

The maps look quite stunning on the Series X, when the skybox isn't flickering and the textures load in fully. What I will say for the maps is that they have certainly moved away from the three-lane formula that plagued Black Ops 4, was it in a good way though? That's hard to say as some maps such as Garrison and Checkmate provide a suitably varied setting, with plenty of cover should you need it. Others such as Moscow, Cartel and Armada have very little in the way of cover so if you're sighted first, you're pretty much dead. Lastly, the Skill Based Match Making in this game means that there is no sense of progression in the game, since my first game, I can't think of a single match that hasn't made me feel like a noob using the default classes. Again comparing it to the Gears franchise, a ranked and casual set up would remove this problem with a beginner category exclusive to those between levels one and twenty.

Call of Duty had an amazing send off on last generation consoles with Modern Warfare and has sadly launched with what could have been another hit. The story was solid, zombies evolved in a natural and fun way but the thing that brings people back has been an undeniable disaster. The frame drops, graphical issues, system crashes, skill based match making and balancing issues have turned what could be a really solid introduction into next generation shooters into a challenging effort stuck in the shadow of its predecessor.

I've never written a public review about a game before but the fact that I am here means that I am mad and disappointed. This game is a literal waste of money and a step back in every single aspect. Yes, what people are saying is true. This game is a literal waste of money and a step back in every single aspect. Yes, what people are saying is true. The reason why this gets a 0 for me and not even a one, is because this game is a cash cow. Someone, please tell me what did I pay $65 for? 8 online maps? the ONE map of zombies? dead ops arcade? THE HIT MARKERS?

If you want to know my frustration and disappointment, compare the amount of content in this sad excuse of a game with the content released in ANY OTHER black ops. You'll understand. This game was released with the wrong intentions. They basically said, "just buy the game full price even though the games not finished, and we'll think about adding stuff as we move on".

Do you want to know how sad the amount of content is in this game? the store has ONE pack and nothing else. I paid $65 for an empty store. Don't get me wrong, I am not a fan of these stores because ever since they came out, game development has no longer been about gameplay and content; now it's all about money, skins, and looking cool...(2K)...

I'm not a fan of where game development seems to be heading in the near future. Back in the good old days before 10 and 12-year-olds had smartphones and credit cards (360, PS3), a game was released with all its content. I didn't mind the map packs or small extra DLC's. At least the FULL GAME was released. Now they release 33% of a game, have you pay full price, and release items as time goes on so that they keep you in this loop of coming back to the game when they add something so you can always be entitled to make a purchase. We might as well just start buying half made cars. No brakes, just the gas pedal. Come back in a month for an update. That itself should show you how wrong this is. This is an ongoing issue with no regulations. Something has to be done about this, I just don't know what or how. If you read this before buying the game, I hope I saved you $65. If we were too late just like me... I feel your pain and I wish I could get a refund,

Server errors and lag are outrageously bad. Add to their recipe for what is now dubbed the fruitcake of games the terribly small maps that are poorly laid out and consist of nothing but the aggravation and contempt of the players. Enemies are always camping from across the tiny map taking head shots the moment you spawn. Die and spawn back in seconds on an infinite loop of stupidity that shouldn’t exist in the modern FPS. Speaking of maps, the lack of quantity is shocking and it would seem revolve around the same three. Character customization is an after thought with such little work put into it that nearly every player just uses the default model making the loading screens showing your team feel even more ridiculous. Get a tank and get blown up in seconds (they’re apparently as weak as driving a Honda Accord into war), get a boat and get blown up in seconds, just show up and...well, you get the point. This game should have never been released in this state and I don’t think they can even fix it. There’s just nothing good to say here but they certainly sold a bajillion copies and will think they have a great hit over at corporate I’m sure. Call of Duty is supposed to be an arcade First Person Shooter game, leave being realistic with realistic feeling movement and gun recoil to Battlefield, because Call of Duty is meant to be that Esports shooter, while Battlefield appeals to people who like realistic feeling Warfare. So, the gameplay, I think is pretty good. It’s not exactly how I would want it because I prefer how Black Ops 2 plays. How you run in this game gives me some Payday 2 vibes. The shooting feels very nice with the guns having good and relatively easy to control recoil, sometimes too easy to control with the RPD being in the game. As usually the ideal choice for a gun in this game is a Submachine-gun, not many surprises there considering how good they have been over the generations of Call of Duty.
Next up, the Campaign, it has a very good story which I won’t spoil here but if you are looking for spoilers there is probably another review you can find to see what happens. It is reminiscent of the Cold War era, so the game earns its namesake with the campaign.
Now, Multiplayer, HOLY **** it is in a bad state right now, the spawns are ****ed with the spawns flipping every fifteen seconds so expect to die nearly every ten seconds. Eliminations aren’t necessarily a new thing, but kill-steals aren’t much of a problem anymore. Assault rifles are pretty well balanced, giving reliable damage from medium to long range. Sub machine-guns are good at doing their job, providing heavy damage short to medium range. Shotguns are good ONLY at short-range even with damage range extending attachments. Snipers are underwhelming as they usually cannot provide a reliable one shot kill in their own range, sometimes dealing less than half damage to an enemy’s health and their Aim Down Sight time is so slow I could probably get more kills throwing rocks at the enemy team. Light machine guns are over **** powered, but its mostly the RPD being the **** super gun all of a sudden. The gunsmith is pretty good, it gives the opportunity for a lot of class creativity if people weren’t forced to use a meta class to have much fun and stun grenades are **** stupid, change my mind. Most maps are essentially **** too big with horrible spawns and camping is rampant, even in Nuketown people sit in the buildings with assault rifles waiting for you even in HARDCORE. The point of small maps is that there is fast gameplay with games lasting around 5 to 8 minutes, some of them for me have lasted upwards of 15 to 20 minutes on small maps.
Zombies makes a return and I think it is better than Black Ops 4, the create a class system for Zombies is fantastic as you can get base versions of good guns with your own attachments that you select without spending a million salvage to get the attachments to want. The new, “auras” I guess are nice ability’s especially the ring of fire. Perks have more of a purpose now that you can have all of them on the one map, Die Maschine and they provide more useful buffs as you can upgrade them along with the weapon mods, your guns in general and perks with Raw Aetherium Crystals.

So overall this game is the best we have had in years, over Modern Warfare this takes the cake as the best Call of Duty in 3 years since the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered.

As a frequent CoD critic, I found this entry in the Black Ops subseries highly intriguing. The campaign includes my favorite POTUS (Reagan), and on top of that, delivers a strong story. Spending hours on multiplayer, specifically outbreak in zombies, crafted many great evenings with friends, especially during COVID-19 in early 2021. I recommend.

What is this thing even installing? Because after you go to play the campaign its like, nah you gotta download it, heres part one… that’s right part one… youll play a mission in this joke of a campaign and then its like oh you nee to download part 2 now, heres another 26gb patch ontope of the 20 you just downloaded, but it doesn’t stope there, theres another 20 gb part 3.. .thats right.. nearly 70 GB patched in for not even 4 hour long campaign. That they couldn’t just put on the disc… downloading multiplayer and zombies makes sense because its primarily online.. but a 4 hour long campaign, it’s a joke…
I for one do understand why so many people love call of duty, its multiplayer, and thankfully its just as fun here as its ever been with all of its modes outside of team deathmatch.. that’s usually my favorite mode, but I just wasn’t feeling the maps this year in deathmatch, but I had an absolute blast anyway for hours playing that ultra addicting, spawn shoot die gameplay, and its been a hwile since ive played a call of duty game.. since ww2.. so im not sure if these things are new but I am loving the instant respawns here on the next gen.. and I also appreciate that camping snipers have a little reflection to give away their location.. ive never been a fan of zombies mode, its obviously here.. I cant fairly critique it as it just isn’t my thing… but the main reason I play a call of duty game, at least in my currently life where I don’t have the time to sink days into multiplayer is the campaign.. but thankfully I do have the fun and addictive multiplayer to play through while it takes more hours to download than it does to actually play…
Here you play as yourself, during the cold war, and the campaign actually started with tons of promise.. I wouldn’t mind if every year we got a well told 3-4 hour long story full of amazing set pieces and a mind blowing experience to compliment the fun multiplayer, and this campaign had its moments, it felt like an interactive movie with great moments and missions, some of the best stealth missions ive ever experienced in a first person shooter, but halfway through the campaign just falls apart, it becomes generic first person shooter level design and story telling, theres even a section of the game here youre redoing the same thing like 5 times in a row… that’s how much you can tell the creative juices have evaporated after an impressive start.. I didn’t want to stop playing, but I had to to let part 2 download… such a let down…
Call of Duty is what it is…
You know what youre going to get every year…
it never changes outside of the setting..and this is where the let down comes into play
Im personaly okay with a little 4 hour journey each year, but please put a little more effort and see that effort through, especially if again,, its only going to be 4 hours… it better be solid.
But at least you have some new maps to play with.

I've played call of duty since it fist started off and I've finally reached the point where I won't put any more of my money in, this game should be a free to play game with an optional $20 to $30 pricetag for the campaign. I don't want to pay full price for a game only to be bombarded by pop-ups for cosmetics and a season pass, I'll go play fortnite or apex for that where I don't have to pay any extra money unless I want to. It's time for call of duty to drift away into the sunset, I only wish Activision would have let it drift peacefully instead of strangling it dry for every last drop of cash it had left. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is one step forward, and two steps back.

    Campaign:
I thought that the Campaign was awesome! As a sequel to Black Ops, the interesting Black Ops Characters are back, with a newcomer.
The Campaign is different this time, since it has choices, and multiple endings to it.
You and your team hunt down Perseus, to stop Operation Greenlight. Every Mission was good, except the one where you had to rinse and repeat to find out where Perseus is.
The ending was awesome! I went for the good ending where Solovetsky got bombed, but there is an ending where you kill your team.
In Overall, it is a pretty good, yet short campaign.
The Motto ,,Everything you know is a lie" is here, and a lie was that Bell was in the Vietnam War, which was pretty unexpected for me.
In Overall, the campaign is an 8/10 for me and slightly better than MW2019's.

    Zombies:
Zombies is fun. It always has been. Yet in Black Ops Cold War, it is fun, but really really repetitive.
    Only One Map, ugh.
In Overall, its fun, and gets repetitive over time, but worth it with friends. 7/10

    Multiplayer:
Well, this is a HUGE Step Back from MW2019. Crap Movement, No Balancing, Maps unplayable, 8 Maps.
If you are from MW2019, you will be disappointed. So was I.
MW2019 had great Multiplayer, yet here it is a huge step back in every way.
SBMM is with no doubt, bad, and Activision isn't removing it, which is beyond me.
But there is fun here too, since there are games where you will be sweating and being warmed up and having fun. But those are only if you are high rank Prestige and Prestige, is a huge grind.
Thankfully, with Season 1 they more or less balanced it and I hope the issues get fixed and it will not be such a magnificent step back. 6/10

I have never hated a call of duty game quite like this one. The zombies is so ridiculously easy it might as well be a toddler's game. This game is the most rng based, no skill, kid-oriented game ever. I was so excited that a new black ops game was coming out, and it featured one of the best things about MW: gunsmith. But boy oh boy was I disappointed. Let's start with multiplayer.I have never hated a call of duty game quite like this one. The zombies is so ridiculously easy it might as well be a toddler's game. This game is the most rng based, no skill, kid-oriented game ever. I was so excited that a new black ops game was coming out, and it featured one of the best things about MW: gunsmith. But boy oh boy was I disappointed. Let's start with multiplayer.

Starting with create a class, I have never seen customization that was so unnecessary like this. Gunsmith is not gunsmith. 95% of the attachments don't have an significant tradeoffs, which is the main point of gunsmith. Every single attachment adds little and doesn't take away anything, so what's the point? It MW, if you wanted to quickscope, you could dedicate all 5 attachments on your sniper to aim down sight speed. In black ops cold war, there's 1 attachment that helps aim down sight speed, and it only helps 5%. I personally love quickscoping, and this game is insulting. Just ask faze jev. The only reason to ever pick a sniper is if you want to be a hardscoping **** in search and destroy. If you want to quickscope, load up the wall hacks because your gonna have to pre aim a second in advance, without even knowing the person is there. Or you could use the Pellington, which is less consistent that the mk2 at 5,000 meters away. All of this ties back to Treyarch making this game for toddlers, because you don't have to put any thought into your attachments, and you don't have to worry about quickscopers, who would normally **** of little timmy. Now let's talk about time to kill and skill based matchmaking. If you don't want to sweat your **** balls off every single match, you better either play with your **** friend or pick a different game. It's so **** strong that you'll have 3 straight 0.5 k/d ratio games, then one game with a 3.0 k/d, then its back to 0.5. And this is even worse with time to kill. Call of duty typically has fast time to kill, with the exception of black ops 4. The problem with how long the time to kill is that if you engage more than one person at once, you're **** dead. In old games, you could react fast, laser one, take cover, and kill the other. But in this game, especially with how slow aim down sight speed is, you'll just **** die. Because of this, if you're not camping, you're not getting kills. Guess what's easier than playing run and gun: camping. Stop catering to **** nine year olds Treyarch. So what we have now is a multiplayer where customization means nothing, you can't quickscope, if you play well the game punishes you, and if you don't camp your not getting kills. Fun, right?

Now lets talk about zombies. Me personally, I have played black ops one, black ops two, black ops 3, world war 2, and black ops cold war. Typically in tryarch zombies, if you go down in co-op, the only way to get back up is if your teammates complete the round or revive you. Either way, you lose all of your perks. If you bleed out completely and have to wait for the round to end, you'll lose your weapons as well. In solo, the only way to be revived is through quick revive, with some exceptions, but mostly only quick revive. Well in black ops cold war, you're pretty much invisible. So basically what your gonna do is spawn in with the knife, which can one shot zombies un packed unit around 14. Fair, right? Then your gonna get the gallo off the wall for 1200 points which is pretty much a wonder weapon. Off the wall. For 1200 points. If you play about 5 games you'll have enough atherium crystals to max out aether shroud, jug, and quick rievive. With these things maxed out you pretty much take 5 bottles of steroids. 250 health and aether shroud is the ultimate save me item. With tier 3 aether shroud you are teleported forward and aren't targeted by zombies for 10 seconds. So basically if you get cornered, you're fine. It has cool down yes, so you could argue if you get corened twice, you die right? Nope. Get yourself a chopper gunner with some salvage, which you'll be bathing in by round 15. Zombies won't target you while you use it, so another save me item. Not to mention you get to **** blast zombies with a beast in the sky. Ok, so if you use both, your dead right? Wrong again. Go buy yourself a self revive, which cost the same salvage you'll be rolling in by round 15. So if you go down, you can revive yourself. But you lose your perks right? Wrong, wrong, wrong. You lose 1. Only 1. And you can use this setup in co op as well, so basically there's infinite high rounds. And once you get to round 20, which isn't hard, getting the ray gun and die gun becomes incredibly easy. So basically any old noob can go in and become invisible, get infinite high rounds, and they won't even break sweat. They better release some maps that make it a whole lot harder, because its not fun when the game hands you everything on a silver platter.

So all in all, black ops cod war takes the skill out of call of duty.

I've put up with it for the past week and hoped it would be address with some patches, but nope. They would much prefer to put out NukeTown than address the severe issues with their game. Which leaves me very close to seeking a refund for my purchase and not returning to the game, even if its eventually fixed. I do not want to support a company that refuses to address issues that should have been addressed by now.

    Update:

The game has not gotten better since the season, that was a week late started. In fact the season only further enhanced the issues with the game. There is clearly no hack prevention because it us absolutely rampant. Especially now that they opened up Trial Accounts. Optimization for RTX is dumpster. Clearly the developers and company are only concerned with putting out a cash grab.
    Treyarch you suck.

The only decent part of this game was the campaign, but that is overshadowed by the massive dumpster fire that the multiplayer is.

Black Ops Cold War is a very solid game that you should pick up, especially between the enthralling campaign, the ever-expanding zombies mode, and the competitive-yet-cooperative multiplayer. The campaign takes place after Black Ops and before II, where you are "Bell". You work with Russell Adler and other characters to take down Perseus, one of the mythical people from the Cold War. The multiplayer now has many weapons to choose from, and has great maps that are fun to play on, explore, and even find finer details. The zombies kicks off after the end of Tag Der Toten from Black Ops IIII, where certain Aether characters had died. The plot is in the 1980's, where the Dark Aether is spilling into reality, and you must combat the threat before it's too late. Maps ranging from "Die Machine" to "Outbreak", to even "Forsaken", the zombies will be continuing with a new chapter of life, not to even mention the returning perks, most notably PHD Flopper, renamed to PHD Slider.

In conclusion, BOCW is a game for Xbox, PS4, PC, whatever you play on, that you should pick up regardless of what you hear. The game is great, and is better than some past Call of Duties in some regard. It is well worth the price, especially if you're a long time fan, or a brand new one.

Campaign was fun, but blasted through it within a few hours, after the campaign, what you are left with is multiplayer and zombies. Which feels like an incomplete game. Weapon choices seem few and far between unlike some of their more recent titles, and the only Weapons you’ll be using anyways are the MP5 and Mauer shotgun. Multiplayer plays laggy and and the map layout feels rushed. AllCampaign was fun, but blasted through it within a few hours, after the campaign, what you are left with is multiplayer and zombies. 1 simply for the zombies effort, well done to the zombies team. Campaign is forgettable. Don't get me started with multiplayer... Me and my friends decided it's arguably the worst COD ever made. Treyarch/infinity ward and others should have given this year a miss instead of releasing a game that plays and feels like a pre alpha

It dont run on a i5 3450 16 gb ram and a AMD Fury. Modern Warfare runs very good without frame dropping!
Cold War runs under full hd and still frame drops! unplayable! normaly i want my Money back! and go back to Modern Warfare.

Really bad performance of the game. On specific maps even without the rate tracing there is a huge FPS drop. Game is unstable it crashes a lot. And it’s the only game which somehow make my xbox crashed completely.
There is a lack of the game content and maps. Campaign is really short, graphics are worse than modern warfare. :( I am disappointed!

Too many boring cinematics in single - not much to play , some levels ok, some very redundant with same old algotyrhms and very linear action. Not Very Bad - but overall mediocre - i played on series X and graphics is so so - flat texture are very common. Console hang out from time to time, the whole system was crashing several times.

I made extra a Account to write this review.

Zombies is good but until state 05.12.2020 just not worth it, just no quantity at all.

And now the Multiplayer, now this...this is something it is just so broken and **** There is nothing good about. Matchmaking is just too competitive and everyone is just using the same weapons it is just boring...the best part of it all is, if you can play it...most of the time it just chashes and lags nonstop.

To sum it up, spent the money on something that is more worth it and this is litteraly anything else.

The multiplayer is so bad I deleted the game and re-downloaded PUBG which had the crown for worst game ever due to lack of support. I would rather play a game where the developers don’t take action against people using mods than this pile of garbage.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m a long-time COD fan who has almost always enjoyed the lore for the campaigns and for Zombies, and I’ve enjoyed the multiplayer modes for most of the games. Unfortunately, COD: Black Ops Cold War just doesn’t live up to the hype in my opinion.

    1) Campaign [TL;DR]

First off, I’m not a huge fan of the campaign. It didn’t really add much to the Black Ops storyline. There were a few callbacks to the original Black Ops storyline, such as the mission in Yamantau with Hudson and Weaver, Kravchenko whose story had already concluded in Black Ops II, with just as much screen time and importance in that game as well, and Raul Menendez who ran a cartel under Noriega’s time in power. However, the callbacks felt like cheap fan service that served virtually no purpose whatsoever.

Your playable character’s story arc (codename “Bell”) felt meaningless. The brainwashing concept had already been attempted with Alex Mason in the first game, and to some extent it really worked. Discovering that Victor Reznov used Steiner’s attempted brainwashing on Mason to serve his own purpose of eliminating Dragovich, Steiner and Kravchenko was a huge twist, especially when we also figured out that Reznov had died during Mason’s escape from Vorkuta.

Bell’s brainwashing on the other hand felt too predictable, and the canonized ending felt a little forced. It would’ve seemed more likely for Bell to turn against his CIA colleagues and finish Perseus’s mission, as opposed to continuing the fight against Perseus, given that he had been previously aligned with Perseus. He never really had much incentive to aid Russell Adler or Jason Hudson.

To top that off, the stakes never really felt high. It always seemed as if the CIA was going to be able to accomplish its mission of obtaining intel on their rivals, and that every setback was a trivial issue. I never really felt on-edge as I’d felt with Mason being brainwashed by Steiner.

In the original Black Ops, your attempt to neutralize Castro was unsuccessful since Dragovich and Kravchenko had tipped off Castro. They always seemed at least one step ahead of the CIA. You’d lost a couple of allies along the way—Harris and Bowman—and Kravchenko almost killed Weaver as well.

In Modern Warfare 2, Roach and Ghost secure intel on Makarov, only to be betrayed by General Shepherd. It’s later revealed that Shepherd used the conflict to bolster his reputation as a general and to avenge his fallen men, while pinning the blame on those associated with Task Force 141. As a result, your team goes in hiding and rely on the help of former-Spetsnatz soldiers Nikolai and Yuri to kill Shepherd and Makarov. In the process of chasing after Makarov, Soap dies in the conflict and Yuri must explain his past ties to Makarov to Captain Price so he can trust Yuri to assist him in their epic final showdown.

At no point did I feel the same level of high stakes in Black Ops Cold War. You barely even see Perseus! He’s in a couple of cutscenes, and you only see him face-to-face in Bell’s alternate ending! I would rate the campaign a 2/10.

    2) Multiplayer

As of me writing this review (Dec. 2020), I am still disappointed in the multiplayer experience. The maps are either too big or they make you feel claustrophobic. Players have resorted to camping and spamming tacticals/lethals to get kills against enemies. In previous multiplayer experiences the maps were typically more balanced, and you were capable of navigating throughout the map a lot easier without the risk of getting sniped across the map or without being forced to push hard with a few allies in a hard-camped area of the map just to gain an edge.

The weapon progression system is also frustrating. I do enjoy more options for my weapons, but 55 weapon ranks seems too excessive in my opinion. The only way to rank your weapons up quicker is if you play the multiplayer mode or wait for another 2XP weekend—assuming that isn’t bugging out again.

This is more of a personal nitpick, and those of you reading may disagree with me, but I really dislike the overall progression system as well. Hitting a prestige rank used to feel meaningful. I would be able to show that I’d put enough time into the game where I could essentially restart my progress for my character and challenge myself to earn back all my perks, weapons and equipment. There’s no challenge, so there doesn’t seem like much of a point to the current progression system. 2/10

    3) Zombies

I enjoyed Die Maschine. I wasn’t expecting another chapter of the Zombies lore, but this new story seems interesting enough. I’m still not sure how I feel about upgrading your perks, but the weapons customization is a nice touch. 8/10

    4) Conclusion

I feel like I paid $70 USD for a game I only enjoy one-third of. As of now, I feel like it’s only worth $20 USD. Either wait for that price or don’t buy it at all.

How is it legal to launch a product like this? It is not even working on serie X, impossible to finish the 6 hours campaign (even when they stole you 10 dollars more). You want to play cod? Play Modern warfare, not this "free to play". And the SBBM... it is impossible to take pleasure.

Overall, despite some performance issues, I rather enjoyed the mercenaries, spies and private eyes campaign that is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. I’d like to see the development team get a chance to really flesh out a longer campaign in this style, but you know…the call of duty.

With an entertaining campaign, great online opportunities and panic-stricken zombie slaughter, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is an impressive package. Still, we can not help but feel disappointed. The best parts of the campaign could have been developed much more and the online modes feel well stripped down. Cold War still impresses, but with more development time, it could have been so much more than "this year's Call of Duty game".
