    This game is good. The campaign is pretty good. But it's awfully short, it's half the length of a regular CoD campaign. Multi-player is broken. The Skilled Based Matchmaking in Multi-player makes it a pain in the butt. It's hard to have fun in Multi-player. The zombies game mode is really fun, until you reach wave 15.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. (Please note: I have the XONE digital version of Cold War. I'm posting it on the Series X version because 1: more people will see it, and 2: they are practically the same version, save for graphical differences. It's also a big game (about 95 GB if I remember correctly), so you'll want to save some storage space if you don't have that much. Definitely worth it though.)

    I've played COD since the first Black Ops. Cold War's campaign, in my opinion, saves this game. While a bit short, it's detailed, and actually has cool and surprising (unless you've been spoiled) twists that I won't name here ('cause of spoilers, obviously). Zombies DEFINITELY takes getting used to. If you haven't tried it yet, don't expect it to be like the previous games. ((here's a little tip: no matter what starter gun you pick, it's probably gonna suck and start acting like an M1911 made out of orange juice and crack by round 2.)) Multiplayer definitely falls a bit flat, as it doesn't exactly bring anything *new* to the table, although it's still good and (in my opinion) smoother and better-looking than previous games. It's still fresh to me.

    If I had to give each mode a rating, this is what I'd do:
    Campaign: 9.5/10 (a bit short, good ending ((yes, there are several endings, congrats)) could've been just a teensy bit better, but it is AMAZING for what it offers)

    Multiplayer: 6/10 (adds nothing new, but is still fresh and fun and it WORKS. that's all that matters to me)

    Zombies: I got no friggin' idea, I haven't played it enough to make an educated decision on it - it's really up to you to decide whether you like it or not since it's so different from other entries in the Black Ops series. They recently added a new map, too, (which is free! thank god!) which is MUCH better than the first one. Much more open and a lotta action.

    Overall, the game could've used some more development time. SBMM isn't a problem for me (because I friggin' SUCK lol), although if you're more highly skilled, you will dislike it. As for technical issues, I didn't have any on my XONE. Maybe it's because I got it digitally? I dunno. Load times weren't even that long.

    -- Oh, and by the way, the graphics are fine. I haven't even mentioned them yet since they don't even play a role in whether or not the game will be fun, so don't pay attention to reviews mainly talking trash about the graphics. This game could have Nintendo 64 graphics and still be fun for me.

    8/10, mainly because of the multiplayer not being anything new. The multiplayer is still worth a try, though, especially if you're new to the series. If you're a serious sweaty "my life is COD" vet, though, campaign and zombies will be more worth it to you.    … Expand

    Thank you EA for this wonderful game and game series! I never cared about cod multiplayer, because there's so many of them already. I play only singleplayer and singleplayer is only reason i care about cod and that was great!

    It's very true that this game is bad on playstation consoles, because playstation is just weak pathetic console, so no wonder. But this game is solid on masterrace gaming systems like PC and Xbox Series X. Would recommend!

    Cold War is severely underrated. My personal favourite CoD since Black Ops 2. I do not understand the hate for Cold War. I found it to be far more enjoyable than MW(2019) better maps, gameplay, just overall a lot more fun. Solid installment to the franchise. I bought Vanguard and just immediately went back to Cold War. В общем все классно, мне очень зашло. По-моему это лучшая чать Call of Duty. Мультиплеер ну похуже, чем в предыдущих, но мне в принципе хватает. Зомби режим хорош, жду новую карту. For one the multiplayer is well a work in progress but at the moment I don't favor it at all. Also, the game modes for multiplayer are just too over-complicated, and navigating around all of it can seem clunky. Now on the other end of the spectrum is the Campaign which to me is where this game shines. This campaign impressed me and shows that a lot of new innovative features can be added and still make the game fun. such as sneaking around and silently taking out enemies instead of like Rambo. The zombies were well fun but Activision is giving us DLC as slow as mud, we only have one map but for the most part, Firebase z is coming out on the 4th and well let's just say it can get quite repetitive doing the same thing over and over again because of the lack of maps, however aside from that the Easter eggs are good and a lot easier not requiring a Ph.D. to solve them. All in all, I do not think this is the best Call of Duty, however, it is far from the worst. While the multiplayer may suck at the moment the campaign and zombies are fun. I recommend giving it a shot especially when it's on sale.… Expand

    So, the game has been out for about a week and a half, I poured about 50ish hours into the game.

    Campaign: love how it allows you to select character qualities that give you bonuses to the MC.     The campaign is amazing and the zombies is very good but can become boring after a while. The multiplayer is good however the grinds are way too long, getting guns to level 52 takes too long and some camos are very hard for guns that should be easy to get gold.

    This cod is wonderful, the campaign is great with a weird end but is great, very good grafics, very good performance, etc, multiplayer is amazing and zombies is good but they need to add more maps.

    Needs more maps, but otherwise fun. I like it better than MW. Eliminations, healthbars are more fun for me.

    Rating it a 6 because of bugs that crash the game. Disabling Ray Tracing helps, but does not eliminate issues. Will rate higher if fixed. (Update: Bugs fixed, still enjoying the game.)

    The game still needs some work but the campaign and zombies are some of the best in the franchise. On the other hand the multiplayer is a bit of a mess. But with a few tweaks from Treyarch this could be one of the best games in the franchise.

    One of the best Call of Duty games in long time. It had kind of bad launch, but it's way better now. Can't wait for COD 2021, hopefully WW 2 !!!

    Very good intense campaign and with a good and twisting story where you can make multiple important choices. Stable 60fps on Series X and with ray tracing its looks absolutely stunning. The multiplayer and the zombie mode is good as well. Very good game, with a big replayability factor.

De antemano se les avisa que no le hagan caso al "Review bombing", el juego es visualmente una delicia, están inmersivo que lo debes de jugar a 4k, debido a los realista que se llega a ver, la trama es excelente, con varias decisiones que modifica el resultado del guión, honestamente es uno de los mejores juegos de Call of Duty que se hayan jugado. La forma de juego okay Play es muy bueno, vale la pena la toma de decisiones tanto para convertirte en una buena persona o una mala persona, al final una de las decisiones clave, es tan impactante no solamente para el personaje principal, sino para la decisión del final. En cuanto a la música es fenomenal el oeste, debo reconocer Qué es uno de los grandes logros para arrancar una nueva generación de consolas.… Expand

    This game is wonderfull. Time to kill is so good, the back of pretige System was so good for people who like this system to level up. The maps are playable, different from MW 2019

    One of the best Call of Duty's in a long time. The zombies is hands down the best part of the game (I haven't played campaign). Zombies out weighs the Multiplayer for myself by a lot. The game has a few bugs/glitches that are to be expected with such a big game release. The menus/leaderboard sometimes freeze and don't work correctly but this will be addressed in the near future withOne of the best Call of Duty's in a long time. The zombies is hands down the best part of the game (I haven't played campaign). Zombies out weighs the Multiplayer for myself by a lot. The game has a few bugs/glitches that are to be expected with such a big game release. The menus/leaderboard sometimes freeze and don't work correctly but this will be addressed in the near future with updates. The gameplay and smooth feel of this game, makes it a 10/10 for myself. I have sank 20+ hours in in a week, lol. I hope Treyarch doesn't change a thing (besides QoL changes and server stability). I sat the last 2 COD's out because I was getting sick of the same old.     Rock solid Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies. People will literally complain about anything and everything. Ignore all the Cry babies, this is a good game and I recommend it to anyone.

    Best campaign since BO1 Excellent setting, great cast and just wonderful all around. There are a few technical issues that don't hidner the overall experience. Multiple endings is a good feature, Multiplayer is what you expect out of CoD Zombies a blast but I haven't gone deep in it yet.

    Awesome single player experience! I never play COD online multiplayer or zombie variants, what I love is to experience a good COD campaign and this one is amazing. Not perfect thats why Im giving it a 9 :) I hated that forces you to install warzone the same way that the last MW does.

    Just cause Playstation 4 / 5 version are bad (because weak loser console), doesn't mean you have to troll PC / Xbox Series X versions that run on ultimately superior hardware.

    El juego es una pasada con un aspecto grafico de lo mejor de la nueva generacion de consolas es decir es la unica con un RT espectacular nada que ver con la version mediocre de PS5 con un apartado grafico, efectos de particulas, renderizado asqueroso muy mediocres, en fin es una joya esta version de XBOX SERIES X

    The multiplayer is very flawed but I feel it will be fixed in time. The zombies mode is a good time killer but it's also great to try and take seriously. The campaign is one of the best Call of Duty campaign's I have ever played the twist is amazing and the graphics were incredible even on last gen systems. The cutscenes were a laggy mess however

    Multiplayer is passable. Campaign though, is amazing! It is an amazing story with great characters. Zombies is the best it's been since BO3. Definitely has a chance to even surpass it.

Call of Duty is supposed to be an arcade First Person Shooter game, leave being realistic with realistic feeling movement and gun recoil to Battlefield,    Ok, this Call of Duty is pretty **** good.
    First things first, personally, I think this game is superior to Modern Warfare, maybe not in graphics or realistic gun sounds and all those other nitpicky **** statements for Modern Warfare. Call of Duty is supposed to be an arcade First Person Shooter game, leave being realistic with realistic feeling movement and gun recoil to Battlefield, because Call of Duty is meant to be that Esports shooter, while Battlefield appeals to people who like realistic feeling Warfare. So, the gameplay, I think is pretty good. It’s not exactly how I would want it because I prefer how Black Ops 2 plays. How you run in this game gives me some Payday 2 vibes. The shooting feels very nice with the guns having good and relatively easy to control recoil, sometimes too easy to control with the RPD being in the game. As usually the ideal choice for a gun in this game is a Submachine-gun, not many surprises there considering how good they have been over the generations of Call of Duty.
    Next up, the Campaign, it has a very good story which I won’t spoil here but if you are looking for spoilers there is probably another review you can find to see what happens. It is reminiscent of the Cold War era, so the game earns its namesake with the campaign.
    Now, Multiplayer, HOLY **** it is in a bad state right now, the spawns are ****ed with the spawns flipping every fifteen seconds so expect to die nearly every ten seconds. Eliminations aren’t necessarily a new thing, but kill-steals aren’t much of a problem anymore. Assault rifles are pretty well balanced, giving reliable damage from medium to long range. Sub machine-guns are good at doing their job, providing heavy damage short to medium range. Shotguns are good ONLY at short-range even with damage range extending attachments. Snipers are underwhelming as they usually cannot provide a reliable one shot kill in their own range, sometimes dealing less than half damage to an enemy’s health and their Aim Down Sight time is so slow I could probably get more kills throwing rocks at the enemy team. Light machine guns are over **** powered, but its mostly the RPD being the **** super gun all of a sudden. The gunsmith is pretty good, it gives the opportunity for a lot of class creativity if people weren’t forced to use a meta class to have much fun and stun grenades are **** stupid, change my mind. Most maps are essentially **** too big with horrible spawns and camping is rampant, even in Nuketown people sit in the buildings with assault rifles waiting for you even in HARDCORE. The point of small maps is that there is fast gameplay with games lasting around 5 to 8 minutes, some of them for me have lasted upwards of 15 to 20 minutes on small maps.
    Zombies makes a return and I think it is better than Black Ops 4, the create a class system for Zombies is fantastic as you can get base versions of good guns with your own attachments that you select without spending a million salvage to get the attachments to want. The new, “auras” I guess are nice ability’s especially the ring of fire. Perks have more of a purpose now that you can have all of them on the one map, Die Maschine and they provide more useful buffs as you can upgrade them along with the weapon mods, your guns in general and perks with Raw Aetherium Crystals.

    So overall this game is the best we have had in years, over Modern Warfare this takes the cake as the best Call of Duty in 3 years since the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered.

    La campagne est excellente le zombies est de de très bonne facture et le multijoueur a un matchmaking bien équilibré. Le choix des scorestreaks pour le multi est excellent car il favorise ceux qui jouent les objectifs.

    As a frequent CoD critic, I found this entry in the Black Ops subseries highly intriguing. The campaign includes my favorite POTUS (Reagan), and on top of that, delivers a strong story. Spending hours on multiplayer, specifically outbreak in zombies, crafted many great evenings with friends, especially during COVID-19 in early 2021. I recommend.

    I play Zombies the most and I like it a lot. Idk what other people's complaints are. The game works perfectly well and that should count for something too. Very smooth, very polished. Regular updates to keep things working. Not much else I could ask for. Some people in multiplayer be sweatin' they nuts off though and it's not fun to play with people who are that competitive with it. Like II play Zombies the most and I like it a lot.     I love this game. Despite what everyone says, I love it. The zombies is good, especially Die Machine. The multiplayer is where I actually got decent at CoD. And the campaign is really good as well.

    Black Ops Cold War is a very solid game that you should pick up, especially between the enthralling campaign, the ever-expanding zombies mode, and the competitive-yet-cooperative multiplayer. The campaign takes place after Black Ops and before II, where you are "Bell". You work with Russell Adler and other characters to take down Perseus, one of the mythical people from the Cold War. The multiplayer now has many weapons to choose from, and has great maps that are fun to play on, explore, and even find finer details. The zombies kicks off after the end of Tag Der Toten from Black Ops IIII, where certain Aether characters had died. The plot is in the 1980's, where the Dark Aether is spilling into reality, and you must combat the threat before it's too late. Maps ranging from "Die Machine" to "Outbreak", to even "Forsaken", the zombies will be continuing with a new chapter of life, not to even mention the returning perks, most notably PHD Flopper, renamed to PHD Slider.

    In conclusion, BOCW is a game for Xbox, PS4, PC, whatever you play on, that you should pick up regardless of what you hear. The game is great, and is better than some past Call of Duties in some regard. It is well worth the price, especially if you're a long time fan, or a brand new one.    … Expand

    One of the best Call of Duty games in long time. It had kind of bad launch, but it's way better now. Can't wait for COD 2021, hopefully WW 2 !!!

    Campaign

    The campaign, albeit great and possibly one of the best CoD stories to date since BO2, falls short in a few areas. The difficulty of the campaign overall is a little too easy. I completed the campaign on realistic on my first run, compared to 2019's Modern Warfare, which took me about 2 playthroughs of veteran and hardened to learn the levels. With BOCW, I just went straight into realism and didn't need as much trial and error, sometimes only dying once on a level. The level design is great, but the enemy AI is lackluster in working with these areas, making it easier for me to get past the level.
    Overall the story was too short, lasting only 9 missions, with two optional side missions. This, sadly, brought down the experience. Overall, 8/10 Campaign

    Multiplayer
    With better maps out on release compared to MW2019, the only thing holding the multiplayer back was a lack of character. The gunplay felt like a near carbon copy, save for mounting which luckily did not make a return. I was surprised to see the guns weren't as customizable as MW2019, with rarely any unique attachments for specific guns. The map flow was great, with it coming back to a 3 lane design, and good flank routes for each map, making overtaking an area during a match doable. Overall 8/10 MP experience

    Zombies
    This year's zombie experience hit it out of the park in my opinion. With the new crafting system and killstreaks, I was doubtful at first, but going into zombies, it quickly became one of my favorite modes. Although with only one map at launch, it gave good replayability in testing out the weapons and best areas for training. The Easter egg was amazing, albeit a little easier compared to other years' zombies Easter eggs. The new way of upgrading your perks, weapons, and other equipment with aetherium crystals gained at level milestones, adds another way to make the zombie mode more replayable. Perfect damage, perfect recoil, perfect ammo capacity... The campaign feels undeveloped, too easy, but sometimes too hard, such as hacking the floppy. The game had so much potential, and can still be fixed. If you play against bots (multiplayer), then try to join a normal game, it won't allow you in unless you go back to the main menu and onto the game.

    Campaign is fun, the zombies are the best thing since BO3 and has no bad maps. The multiplayer is a hit or miss, you can have a lot of fun with a good team if the SBM isn't screwing you over.

    i feel the same way about this game as some older COD fans feel about Black Ops 2. in my opinion it was great. there were always frustrating moments, and multiplayer lag is almost unbearable at times, but overall i had a enjoyable experience. literally the first COD game i have ever pre-ordered. and i still believe it's better than Vanguard and MWII.

    Overall, despite some performance issues, I rather enjoyed the mercenaries, spies and private eyes campaign that is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. I’d like to see the development team get a chance to really flesh out a longer campaign in this style, but you know…the call of duty.

    With an entertaining campaign, great online opportunities and panic-stricken zombie slaughter, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is an impressive package. Still, we can not help but feel disappointed. The best parts of the campaign could have been developed much more and the online modes feel well stripped down. Cold War still impresses, but with more development time, it could have been so much more than "this year's Call of Duty game".
