    I don't understand why there's so much hatred for this part, for me this part is the best. Its atmosphere, style, campaign (oooh, yeah, it's something with something). The campaign is one of the best, it's a pity that the 5-6 hours, and so is excellent, I hope more will continue. Thank you developers))))

    This game is one of the worst call of duty games to date. They went all the way back to the arcaic system that we have had in call of duty past. Once again running through multiplayer levels with doors wide open. Sluggish if not snail like movements.     This game is good. The campaign is pretty good. But it's awfully short, it's half the length of a regular CoD campaign. Multi-player is broken. The Skilled Based Matchmaking in Multi-player makes it a pain in the butt. It's hard to have fun in Multi-player. The zombies game mode is really fun, until you reach wave 15.     A total downgrade from Modern Warfare (2019) - the guns feel like toys in comparison when you compare the animations, sound design, and attachment systems. Oh wow look it's /Nuketown/ again for the 10th time. What a joke.

    So many fault and errors from pointless doing objectives as you get more points if you just camp reload issues it pauses cant change calling card or emblem and many more

    Genuinely one of the worst quality games Activision has ever put out. for a triple-A game, this is terribly optimized and crashes consistently no matter how low you put your settings. And this is all before you have even started playing the game.     The SBMM (skill based mathmaking) maybe one of the worst feautures added to this game with a system designed to take you on a rolercoaster of enjoyment ranging from experiences that make you question your purchase to brief moments of above-average enjoyment. If you used to enjoy older COD's that had lobbies filled with a wide variety of players, then you will be unpleasantly surprised to know that you will not find such an experience here.

    There is a large list of things I could cover when talking about the faults of Cold War but for the sake of time, I have listed the worst features. if the reviews for this game seem overwhelmingly negative that is no coincidence.

    Positives: well to be honest there actually positive parts to this game. The quality of the campaign is high and is enjoyable and is definitely a light of hope for this game. zombies is also a game mode that I believe although may not be appreciated by veteran players of the mode is still quite enjoyable and has brought a good range of features and experiences to the zombies game mode. Overall I would not recommend a purchase of this game if you have any intention of playing the multiplayer or if you do not have a beefy pc. the only point I have given this game is due to the campaign and zombies modes. this may be one of the worst quality call of duty's ever released. this game might as well still be in beta and yet the developers still push out anime skin packs and CDL operators skins like clockwork.    … Expand

The sbmm felt even stronger than modern warfare, I would struggle with terrible teammates, sweaty enemies, overpowered and unbalanced weapons, horrible maps that promote camping, the enemies are impossible to see, the movement feeling clunky, the score streaks are horrible and can not only be shot down with one clip but also are impossible to get because of how high the scores are to get. And all of this I saw within an hour of playing . Their developers have gone dark and never answer questions or interact with the community, the game took 50% of my storage on my Xbox, the battle pass is a rip off of modern warfare's style, in fact it's combined WITH it, so it's mooching off of another games success. Now as for zombies, the map is fun, enjoyable and is the only reason I have the game still installed, I don't wanna reinstall 250gigs every time I wanna play zombies. My only gripe is the glitches and the fact that there's only one map. One issue that I saw was the worst was it SHUT OFF MY XBOX, no game has ever done that and made me feel like I downloaded some malicious stuff into my Xbox before.To end off with, I'ma say I don't recommend this game to anyone, it feels incomplete, abandoned, and feels like a rip off.… Expand

    I played call of duty since the beginning in 2003. I had never so bad technical issues bevor... This game crashes any time any where with dozens of error codes! Every new patch comes with new problems and new errors.

    Well, I have been a long time player of cod games such as World at war Black ops 1 Black ops 2, and black ops 3, but I've got to say this game isn't too bad. For one the multiplayer is well a work in progress but at the moment I don't favor it at all. Activision makes matchmaking seem like an impossible task and this can be proven by the fact anytime you are in a lobby you have playersWell, I have been a long time player of cod games such as World at war Black ops 1 Black ops 2, and black ops 3, but I've got to say this game isn't too bad. For one the multiplayer is well a work in progress but at the moment I don't favor it at all. Activision makes matchmaking seem like an impossible task and this can be proven by the fact anytime you are in a lobby you have players who are much higher levels than you are like level 500 against level 1 makes no sense. Also, the game modes for multiplayer are just too over-complicated, and navigating around all of it can seem clunky. Now on the other end of the spectrum is the Campaign which to me is where this game shines. This campaign impressed me and shows that a lot of new innovative features can be added and still make the game fun. such as sneaking around and silently taking out enemies instead of like Rambo. The zombies were well fun but Activision is giving us DLC as slow as mud, we only have one map but for the most part, Firebase z is coming out on the 4th and well let's just say it can get quite repetitive doing the same thing over and over again because of the lack of maps, however aside from that the Easter eggs are good and a lot easier not requiring a Ph.D. to solve them. All in all, I do not think this is the best Call of Duty, however, it is far from the worst. While the multiplayer may suck at the moment the campaign and zombies are fun. I recommend giving it a shot especially when it's on sale.… Expand

That they couldn’t just put on the disc… downloading multiplayer and zombies makes sense because its primarily online.. but a 4 hour long campaign, it’s a joke…
    I for one do understand why so many people love call of duty, its multiplayer, and thankfully its just as fun here as its ever been with all of its modes outside of team deathmatch.. that’s usually my favorite mode, but I just wasn’t feeling the maps this year in deathmatch, but I had an absolute blast anyway for hours playing that ultra addicting, spawn shoot die gameplay, and its been a hwile since ive played a call of duty game.. since ww2.. so im not sure if these things are new but I am loving the instant respawns here on the next gen.. and I also appreciate that camping snipers have a little reflection to give away their location.. ive never been a fan of zombies mode, its obviously here.. I cant fairly critique it as it just isn’t my thing… but the main reason I play a call of duty game, at least in my currently life where I don’t have the time to sink days into multiplayer is the campaign.. but thankfully I do have the fun and addictive multiplayer to play through while it takes more hours to download than it does to actually play…
    Here you play as yourself, during the cold war, and the campaign actually started with tons of promise.. I wouldn’t mind if every year we got a well told 3-4 hour long story full of amazing set pieces and a mind blowing experience to compliment the fun multiplayer, and this campaign had its moments, it felt like an interactive movie with great moments and missions, some of the best stealth missions ive ever experienced in a first person shooter, but halfway through the campaign just falls apart, it becomes generic first person shooter level design and story telling, theres even a section of the game here youre redoing the same thing like 5 times in a row… that’s how much you can tell the creative juices have evaporated after an impressive start.. I didn’t want to stop playing, but I had to to let part 2 download… such a let down…
    Call of Duty is what it is…
    You know what youre going to get every year…
    it never changes outside of the setting..and this is where the let down comes into play
    Im personaly okay with a little 4 hour journey each year, but please put a little more effort and see that effort through, especially if again,, its only going to be 4 hours… it better be solid.
    But at least you have some new maps to play with.

The maps are the worst I’ve seen in a call of duty game like Miami is god awful so isn’t cartel and what the hell is raid and the pines just trash maps awful. And I can’t even stay in the same lobby with people I was just playing with what the hell is that about oh and this “skill based matchmaking” gtfoh with that bs. And only play gunfight if you want the other kid on your team to immediately quit or not play and have to play the whole game yourself and if you do find a good person to play with on that mode say see ya before the game ends cuz not like you can play another game with them because it throws everyone out of the lobby. Sure go ahead waste $60 or $70 if you want the Xbox one and the series x game which is bs cuz you can play the 60$ on your series x and one so why even have that option. So yea buy the game if you want to be killed by random grenades and people camping not just one or two whole **** teams camp have fun wasting your time and money on the ****tiest game ever oh and don’t buy it for the campaign that’s **** too. Oh almost forgot make sure you disable cross platform cuz they can’t figure out a way to stop people from using aimbots or wall hacks while playing the game on pc.… Expand

    Zombies only has one map that’s not even a big map. The worst one out of them all. Take us back to black ops 2

The icing on the cake is the maps and the guns are the worst out of any Call of Duty they’re terrible. The devs give in to any freak with an internet connectionDon’t waste your time with this game: story is poor and short and piss easy even on realistic, the zombies is repetitive crap and the multiplayer is as toxic as Chernobyl, campers, hackers and inbred scum ruin this game. This game feels like the previous entry Modern Warfare, which attempted to revolutionize and revamp Call of Duty, just with a 1980's skin over it. Activision took Modern Warfare, did not change anything, and put 80's fashion over it. Terrible. Awful. Disappointing.     Bought on xbox one x, seems to run well. Built my 5950x and 3070 equipped pc a month ago and noticed that this game is on sale - the game runs like trash on my system. WHY? COD Warzone runs maxed out not dipping below 100fps ever. I'm running other games at max fidelity and I haven't experienced such poor performance even with Cyberpunk 2077.

    SBMM has ruined all potential for this game. Cold War could have been a turning point for CoD. The obvious dismissal of signal based matchmaking for Skill based matchmaking has completely ruined the online experience. Don't buy this game.

Just don’t do the same mistake I and a lot of other people made and buy this pre alpha of a call of duty because it’s a complete waste of money.

    Absolute trash. I've never liked pvp in a cod game since black ops 2 and Mw3. The zombies mode is also an extreme disappointment lacking any kind of creativity or substance. The single zombies map and half assed Easter egg made me return the game before season 1 of the modern warfare continuation Happened. This "game" is not worth $60 and isn't worth my time.

    First things first, personally, I think this game is superior to Modern Warfare, maybe not in graphics or realistic gun sounds and all those other nitpicky **** statements for Modern Warfare. Call of Duty is supposed to be an arcade First Person Shooter game, leave being realistic with realistic feeling movement and gun recoil to Battlefield, because Call of Duty is meant to be that Esports shooter, while Battlefield appeals to people who like realistic feeling Warfare. So, the gameplay, I think is pretty good. It’s not exactly how I would want it because I prefer how Black Ops 2 plays. How you run in this game gives me some Payday 2 vibes. The shooting feels very nice with the guns having good and relatively easy to control recoil, sometimes too easy to control with the RPD being in the game. As usually the ideal choice for a gun in this game is a Submachine-gun, not many surprises there considering how good they have been over the generations of Call of Duty.
    Next up, the Campaign, it has a very good story which I won’t spoil here but if you are looking for spoilers there is probably another review you can find to see what happens. It is reminiscent of the Cold War era, so the game earns its namesake with the campaign.
    Now, Multiplayer, HOLY **** it is in a bad state right now, the spawns are ****ed with the spawns flipping every fifteen seconds so expect to die nearly every ten seconds. Eliminations aren’t necessarily a new thing, but kill-steals aren’t much of a problem anymore. Assault rifles are pretty well balanced, giving reliable damage from medium to long range. Sub machine-guns are good at doing their job, providing heavy damage short to medium range. Shotguns are good ONLY at short-range even with damage range extending attachments. Snipers are underwhelming as they usually cannot provide a reliable one shot kill in their own range, sometimes dealing less than half damage to an enemy’s health and their Aim Down Sight time is so slow I could probably get more kills throwing rocks at the enemy team. Light machine guns are over **** powered, but its mostly the RPD being the **** super gun all of a sudden. The gunsmith is pretty good, it gives the opportunity for a lot of class creativity if people weren’t forced to use a meta class to have much fun and stun grenades are **** stupid, change my mind. Most maps are essentially **** too big with horrible spawns and camping is rampant, even in Nuketown people sit in the buildings with assault rifles waiting for you even in HARDCORE. The point of small maps is that there is fast gameplay with games lasting around 5 to 8 minutes, some of them for me have lasted upwards of 15 to 20 minutes on small maps.
    Zombies makes a return and I think it is better than Black Ops 4, the create a class system for Zombies is fantastic as you can get base versions of good guns with your own attachments that you select without spending a million salvage to get the attachments to want. The new, “auras” I guess are nice ability’s especially the ring of fire. Perks have more of a purpose now that you can have all of them on the one map, Die Maschine and they provide more useful buffs as you can upgrade them along with the weapon mods, your guns in general and perks with Raw Aetherium Crystals.

    So overall this game is the best we have had in years, over Modern Warfare this takes the cake as the best Call of Duty in 3 years since the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered.

    Campaign:
    I thought that the Campaign was awesome! As a sequel to Black Ops, the interesting Black Ops Characters are back, with a newcomer.
    The Campaign is different this time, since it has choices, and multiple endings to it.
    You and your team hunt down Perseus, to stop Operation Greenlight. Every Mission was good, except the one where you had to rinse and repeat to find out where Perseus is.
    The ending was awesome! I went for the good ending where Solovetsky got bombed, but there is an ending where you kill your team.
    In Overall, it is a pretty good, yet short campaign.
    The Motto ,,Everything you know is a lie" is here, and a lie was that Bell was in the Vietnam War, which was pretty unexpected for me.
    In Overall, the campaign is an 8/10 for me and slightly better than MW2019's.

    Zombies:
    Zombies is fun. It always has been. Yet in Black Ops Cold War, it is fun, but really really repetitive.
    Only One Map, ugh.
    In Overall, its fun, and gets repetitive over time, but worth it with friends. 7/10

    Multiplayer:
    Well, this is a HUGE Step Back from MW2019. Crap Movement, No Balancing, Maps unplayable, 8 Maps.
    If you are from MW2019, you will be disappointed. So was I.
    MW2019 had great Multiplayer, yet here it is a huge step back in every way.
    SBMM is with no doubt, bad, and Activision isn't removing it, which is beyond me.
    But there is fun here too, since there are games where you will be sweating and being warmed up and having fun. But those are only if you are high rank Prestige and Prestige, is a huge grind.
    Thankfully, with Season 1 they more or less balanced it and I hope the issues get fixed and it will not be such a magnificent step back. 6/10    … Expand

    Pc score for this game is unavailable for a reason.... I have a 5800x CPU and 3080 GPU. There is zero reason for there to be crashes this frequently on my end, thus it must be a TERRIBLY optimized game. Even a COD pros are crashing frequently. A triple A game should not have this issue.

It without a doubt the worst call of duty I have ever played...the contrast in multiplayer makes it hard to spot other players, their HUD information is WAY too large, no mounting, they completely changed how perks, attachments work and effect your weapons. Clearly the developers and company are only concerned with putting out a cash grab.
    Treyarch you suck.

    The only decent part of this game was the campaign, but that is overshadowed by the massive dumpster fire that the multiplayer is.    … Expand

    Garbage game, SBMM is trash, i went 72-19 then boom, 22-39. Guns are so unbalanced, zombies is insanely repetitive with same map over and over, all maps are trash multiplayer maps except for 4, only reason why it gets a 2 is campaign is amazing but it’s so freaking short.

Режимов мало, из всех что мне понравился это командный бой и ВИП, остальные неочем, особенно грязная бомба где на карте происходит полный ад.

    Super bad frame rate (interlacing). When you turn to look you literally see the frames as you’re turning. I’m on Xbox Series X. Modern Warfare does not have this problem. This is an immense downgrade from Modern Warfare 2019. I can’t believe I let my friends convince me to buy this game. Worst COD I’ve ever played.

    Game was unfinished and with a pandemic it is understandable it was buggy, but i found joy in the campaign and zombies mode. Problems arise as you look at map selection there are less maps then some of the older installments in the black ops series. Majority of those maps underperform and fall into having to much open space and no three lane maps.     Waste of money, only way I can justify buying it was by playing zombies but you can only do that so many times.. multiplayer was just trash and the game wasn’t near finished on release but still payed full price

    How is it legal to launch a product like this? It is not even working on serie X, impossible to finish the 6 hours campaign (even when they stole you 10 dollars more). You want to play cod? Play Modern warfare, not this "free to play". And the SBBM... it is impossible to take pleasure.

I’m a long-time COD fan who has almost always enjoyed the lore for the campaigns and for Zombies, and I’ve enjoyed the multiplayer modes for most of the games. Unfortunately, COD: Black Ops Cold War just doesn’t live up to the hype in my opinion.

    1) Campaign [TL;DR]

    First off, I’m not a huge fan of the campaign. It didn’t really add much to the Black Ops storyline. There were a few callbacks to the original Black Ops storyline, such as the mission in Yamantau with Hudson and Weaver, Kravchenko whose story had already concluded in Black Ops II, with just as much screen time and importance in that game as well, and Raul Menendez who ran a cartel under Noriega’s time in power. However, the callbacks felt like cheap fan service that served virtually no purpose whatsoever.

    Your playable character’s story arc (codename “Bell”) felt meaningless. The brainwashing concept had already been attempted with Alex Mason in the first game, and to some extent it really worked. Discovering that Victor Reznov used Steiner’s attempted brainwashing on Mason to serve his own purpose of eliminating Dragovich, Steiner and Kravchenko was a huge twist, especially when we also figured out that Reznov had died during Mason’s escape from Vorkuta.

    Bell’s brainwashing on the other hand felt too predictable, and the canonized ending felt a little forced. It would’ve seemed more likely for Bell to turn against his CIA colleagues and finish Perseus’s mission, as opposed to continuing the fight against Perseus, given that he had been previously aligned with Perseus. He never really had much incentive to aid Russell Adler or Jason Hudson.

    To top that off, the stakes never really felt high. It always seemed as if the CIA was going to be able to accomplish its mission of obtaining intel on their rivals, and that every setback was a trivial issue. I never really felt on-edge as I’d felt with Mason being brainwashed by Steiner.

    In the original Black Ops, your attempt to neutralize Castro was unsuccessful since Dragovich and Kravchenko had tipped off Castro. They always seemed at least one step ahead of the CIA. You’d lost a couple of allies along the way—Harris and Bowman—and Kravchenko almost killed Weaver as well.

    In Modern Warfare 2, Roach and Ghost secure intel on Makarov, only to be betrayed by General Shepherd. It’s later revealed that Shepherd used the conflict to bolster his reputation as a general and to avenge his fallen men, while pinning the blame on those associated with Task Force 141. As a result, your team goes in hiding and rely on the help of former-Spetsnatz soldiers Nikolai and Yuri to kill Shepherd and Makarov. In the process of chasing after Makarov, Soap dies in the conflict and Yuri must explain his past ties to Makarov to Captain Price so he can trust Yuri to assist him in their epic final showdown.

    At no point did I feel the same level of high stakes in Black Ops Cold War. You barely even see Perseus! He’s in a couple of cutscenes, and you only see him face-to-face in Bell’s alternate ending! I would rate the campaign a 2/10.

    2) Multiplayer

    As of me writing this review (Dec. 2020), I am still disappointed in the multiplayer experience. The maps are either too big or they make you feel claustrophobic. Players have resorted to camping and spamming tacticals/lethals to get kills against enemies. In previous multiplayer experiences the maps were typically more balanced, and you were capable of navigating throughout the map a lot easier without the risk of getting sniped across the map or without being forced to push hard with a few allies in a hard-camped area of the map just to gain an edge.

    The weapon progression system is also frustrating. I do enjoy more options for my weapons, but 55 weapon ranks seems too excessive in my opinion. The only way to rank your weapons up quicker is if you play the multiplayer mode or wait for another 2XP weekend—assuming that isn’t bugging out again.

    This is more of a personal nitpick, and those of you reading may disagree with me, but I really dislike the overall progression system as well. Hitting a prestige rank used to feel meaningful. I would be able to show that I’d put enough time into the game where I could essentially restart my progress for my character and challenge myself to earn back all my perks, weapons and equipment. There’s no challenge, so there doesn’t seem like much of a point to the current progression system. 2/10

    3) Zombies

    I enjoyed Die Maschine. I wasn’t expecting another chapter of the Zombies lore, but this new story seems interesting enough. I’m still not sure how I feel about upgrading your perks, but the weapons customization is a nice touch. 8/10

    4) Conclusion

    I feel like I paid $70 USD for a game I only enjoy one-third of. As of now, I feel like it’s only worth $20 USD. Either wait for that price or don’t buy it at all.    … Expand

    The multiplayer is so bad I deleted the game and re-downloaded PUBG which had the crown for worst game ever due to lack of support. I would rather play a game where the developers don’t take action against people using mods than this pile of garbage.

    Game is broken ! Lot of bugs ! The theme is good but so few modes, maps and guns make the Multiplayer repetitive , don´t waste your time with this crap , feels like a plastic downgrade compared with COD MW ! Also SBMM ruins the matches ! ! !

    Don't listen to the critics, this game is terrible... multi-player is quick scoping or nothing, so if you don't quick scope all the time don't think you will get on here and ever get a positive KD... only redeeming part of this game is zombies... I'm reinstalling MW

    Multiplayer is passable. Campaign though, is amazing! It is an amazing story with great characters. Zombies is the best it's been since BO3. Definitely has a chance to even surpass it.

    The campaign is amazing and the zombies is very good but can become boring after a while. The multiplayer is good however the grinds are way too long, getting guns to level 52 takes too long and some camos are very hard for guns that should be easy to get gold.

    Overall, despite some performance issues, I rather enjoyed the mercenaries, spies and private eyes campaign that is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. I’d like to see the development team get a chance to really flesh out a longer campaign in this style, but you know…the call of duty.

    With an entertaining campaign, great online opportunities and panic-stricken zombie slaughter, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is an impressive package. Still, we can not help but feel disappointed. The best parts of the campaign could have been developed much more and the online modes feel well stripped down. Cold War still impresses, but with more development time, it could have been so much more than "this year's Call of Duty game".
