Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition is the absolute best way to replay a cult classic of a game. It still retains the look and feel of the original, while providing some much needed improvements like resolution, frame rate, controls and more. Hopefully this edition will create a new generation of fans. It truly is a must-play game.

The long and the short of it though is that Beyond Good & Evil is still a bloody fantastic game, from its setting to characters, story, gameplay mechanics, and everything else. It’s showing its age in some quality of life aspects, but there’s nothing here that should prove too tricky for anyone to get over. It has become the best way to play BG&E, and we can only hope it spurs on any news at all of what comes next.

Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is a phenomenal remaster of the acclaimed 2003 title. The story is excellent, the dialogue is fascinating, and the compact world is a joy to explore. However, poor controls and clunky teamwork occasionally hold it back. Yet, if you can ignore these problems, you'll cherish every dated moment!

If you're looking for the best way to experience Beyond Good & Evil today, look no further. This 20th anniversary edition is indeed the ultimate version of the Ubisoft classic, whether in terms of technique or bonuses! The adventures of Jade and her friends have even aged surprisingly well, even booking in 2024 a dense, gripping, well-paced epic where the word “adventure” takes on its full meaning (exploration, action, racing, etc.). Afterwards, over the years, there are some things that are a little dated. Newcomers will, for example, be annoyed by some puzzles/hidden passages that are not always obvious. For the rest, even the strange new face of Double-H does not detract from the beauty of Hillys and the exciting conspiracy hidden there... A cult video game, that's for sure.

I don’t think Beyond Good & Evil is truly an all-time classic, but this is an exemplary remaster of a great game worthy of the classy treatment its received in this new 20th Anniversary Edition. New and old players alike will find it well worth their time.

Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition takes one of Michel Ancel's best works and recaptures its multi-genre format at a very different time in gaming. Pure early millennium action in a great adventure that mixes mechanics to still feel as fresh and as powerful as it did almost 21 years ago. Ubisoft sets the stage for Beyond Good and Evil 2 with a powerful gallery full of content, a new Speed Run mode and a new mission in the final stretch that better explains the story of Jade and her nature.

For the asking price, this 20th anniversary remaster of Beyond Good & Evil is a great experience – with respectable visual upgrades, sound enhancements, some quality-of-life improvements, and bonus content to top it off. While the gameplay, mechanics, and environments don’t always feel quite as fresh as they once did, Jade’s story is still as charming as ever. Now, about that next adventure…

This package is really well done, and I absolutely adore this game. If you have never played it, there has never been a better time. It is more than worth the price of admission, just know going in that some things may never be resolved. Some of us have been waiting 20 years, and still we wait. I hope it happens soon, but until then this is still an amazing experience that should be played by anyone who loves a great narrative, gorgeous world, and memorable characters.
