    This game should not be called battlefield. It is a setback in all respects. Low on content, poorly balanced, empty and poorly designed maps, no destruction.
    The specialists are unbearable and their phrases ridiculous.
    A lot of mechanics from previous games are missing. You can see that this game was a battleroyale and at some point in development they turned it into a conventional game.     I do enjoy the game. But there are to many bugs for me to truly enjoy the game so until a patch is released I wouldn't recommend buying.

    Battlefield games are ones of potential. BF4 launched in a horrible state and it took them 2 years to fix everything. Battlefield 2042 isn't nearly as broken but it does need work. Thankfully about 6 months of work should do the trick.

    I'm still giving it a 7 because I'm really enjoying the game despite the flaws. I think it feels better to play, it's gorgeous and runs great on series x and PC. I was playing today at ultra settings with ray tracing at 4k60 no DLSS. With DLSS on quality I easily hit 80 and with DLSS and RT off I was averaging 107.

    Why include this in an Xbox review? Simple... Aside from ray tracing the Xbox version holds up quite well against PC. Yes PC looks better but not in a way that you notice during gameplay. It also loads SIGNIFICANTLY faster on Xbox.

    I see people complaining about the new class system but I like it. I hated being stuck in a certain role and being limited to certain weapons. There's no reason a medic or mechanic can't carry an assault rifle or dmr.

    The only real gripe I have is there's no scoreboard but I also understand it. If you're not that good but enjoy playing but constantly see your name at or near the bottom of the list it's probably going to push you away from playing.

    I hate writing reviews, I rarely ever see any game worth writing one, and when one is warranted its usually because the game is so bad that I feel I need to dedicate time out of my day just to express how bad I feel it is.... This however, is the opposite, I have seen this game trashed by so many people and I wholeheartedly believe a vast majority haven't played the game for long, or in some instances, at all, and are just bandwagon trashing it.

    Take into consideration the game has only been released just today, save you, like I, are one of the few who shelled out 90$ or more for a week's early access, and I'm sorry, but if you've shelled out that much money you're likely still playing it and are having a fun time because you're a fan of the series.

    So what i will attempt to do is address the widespread issues most are bandwagoning on about and my take on them, as well as give my honest review.

    Alright, number one issue (for some reason) lack of scoreboard...First, this is Battlefield, not call of duty. Not some battle-royale **** or arena style shooter; this is a massive game where objectives are the focus (if you intend on winning) not running laps around a small map trying to rack up kill-streaks. That's never been what battlefield has been about, and all a scoreboard does is stroke the Ego's of sweaties who already knoe how well they've been doing probably because they have an app they're using to keep manual count themselves. It just adds their name to the top of the end-game screen for all to see, so what. Ive seen people have huge amounts of kills and still fall under those at the very top of the leaderboard who spent their time actually capturing objectives or defending strategic points because that garners more points anyway. The second thing it does is flame the fans of toxicity that inherently exist in shooters because we can all see the guy who went 2/37 at the bottom of the screen... People inevitably flame that guy, in chat, in VC, hell I've had terrible games in the past and had people DM on xbox with toxic words... that doesnt help the game, that only takes the fun out of it for players and detracts from the teamwork needed in this style of game. And if you're thinking oh no it's not that bad (the toxicity), you're kidding yourself. I've already witnessed so much toxicity and flaming in open chat and that's without the scoreboard, and its only been a week.

    Character classes. Yup, they went in a totally different direction and added "class abilities". You'll either love it or hate it, i like having character abilities personally, "hero" models at a new way to impact the game and honestly class loadouts dont meed to exist anymore because you can custom loadout everything pretty much from the start. Something they've changed and adapted over the years as tactics in shooters overall changed... lets be honest here, how many people enjoyed having to change to engineer from say "recon" because you were annoyed at all the damn tanks and vehicles and the only way to access the RPG was as an engineer. IMO that's a dumb design, now you dont have to worry about that, i run around for example with a sniper rifle and Anti Air rockets because i hate helicopters. You like to play medic, there's an actual "Hero" with a medic like ability and you can choose med-packs as a gadget tool and still have your choice of gun and not be confined to SMGs only.

    Gunplay: The implementation of changing your gun on the fly is the most unique thing I've seen in any shooter in a long while. Although it works better for some weapon subsets than others. Ie: assault rifles benefit greatly, as where snipers not as much. But the concept is so unique and adds to options and choices for your playstyle. I honestly fail to see how this is a negative, you want an 4x scope vs a holo sight because you found a good camping spot, change it on the fly and you no longer have to die just to alter your attachments, which in many previous games you couldnt do anyway unless you were on the main menu.

    Negatives: The game obviously has negatives and bugs, those are being repaired and will be repaired inevitably, and for those that are saying "it ahould have been ready" some of these bugs and glitches dont show themselves until you mash 1000's onto the servers and people from the outsidw notice and report them. The maps I feel there are far too few (5 for now) this will obviously be remedied over time. The gun attachment system is locked behind an immense number of kills required with said weapon to unlock a single attachment for it. I'd suggest making "assists" count as well. I think you need like 1600 kills total to unlock all attachments for each weapon, and you have to do it for every weapon. Certain "Hero" are clearly the preferred, grappling hook and wingsuit equals free mobility. Meanwhile the "hacker" only affects a few things on the map. The level of destruction feels smaller than previous BF's.    … Expand

    I am enjoying the game. As time goes on it will improve as do most games. Im happy with what I have right now.
    Portal is a good throwback to the battlefield bad company 2 days and battlefield 3, heck even 1942 is in there.
    Cross play i turned off since keyboard and mouse just destroys my controller.

    Absolute trash. Worst BF game I’ve ever played. Highly recommend not to buy. If you did, ask for your money back. The fact that publishers and developers can get away with releasing an unfinished game is pathetic. They’re following in the footsteps of Medal Of Honor. I’d be surprised if this doesn’t kill the franchise.

    The biggest issue I have with this game is the lack of content in general. I know down the line the game will be near perfect but to have to go through the first few months with only about 5 base maps and 22 guns is very upsetting and disappointing to say the least.     People need to remember that it’s not even day 1 yet, yes the game has flaws currently, but it’s early on, let’s discuss the good things, graphics, increase field or view, tidy scoreboard system mid game. There is a lot to do yet, but the negative scores are certainly not fair at this point in the game

    Great game, Yes there are issues as there is with all games in the past 10 years. However when the game works, its great fun. Its just came out, got to give it time. If this game was delayed people would complain, and now its in early release, people are complaining, only way they can fix this game quickly and effectively is in the real world with us, the players.

    I have played this in Tech Test, Beta and early release, I can see this game has come a long way in a good way since Tech. I have a feeling I shouldn't of said this, but its the best example I got, Tech was buggy, terrible and unplayable, Beta was playable but with just as many bugs, and now early release its playable with a lot less bug than Beta.

    From playing this game from Tech to now, I can safely see there is progress, and the only way they can make the progress is with us. Give them time, they will get the fixes needed and we will see Battlefield become a great game.

    People just have to remember. Devs need real world data to get the game to reach it potential.    … Expand

    Теперь о плюсах:
    1. Удобная кастомизация оружия на манер Crysis.
    2. Потрясающий визуал.
    3. Просто невероятная атмосфера и те самые ощущения, которые были при игре в BF3 и BF4.
    4. 128 человек это однозначно круто. Даже есть какая-то загрузка ботами, лично я этого не заметил.
    5. Hard Zone однозначно хороший, но пока невнятный режим. Надеюсь, что его доведут до ума и его не постигнет участь Fire Storm из BF5
    6. Portal - возможность поиграть в классику однозначный плюс.

    Как итог - это явно не игра года и от части сломанная игра, но в конце концов я получаю от неё удовольствие и не думаю, что она заслуживает 3 балла. Самая разумная на сегодняшний день оценка - 7 баллов, но я авансом оставлю 8 баллов, так как надеюсь, что разработчики извлекли хотябы какие-то уроки из проблем BF5 и в ближайшем будущем доведут все до ума:)    … Expand

    The game is great, a few small bugs however nothing overly game breaking. It looks amazing it plays really well the bugs are in the UI not loading but that’s an easy fix considering the game isn’t even out yet

    Also es ist noch viel Arbeit, aber der Spielspaß und die Grafik sind Top. Natürlich gibt es Bugs und auch die Performance sind Verbesserungs würdig. Aber ich denke das es nie Perfekte Games am Ersten Tag gibt, Warzone ist nach über einem Jahr immer noch nicht Fertig.

    Mit hat es Spaß gemacht und nach einen Tag kann ich es kaum abwarten wieder mit meinen Mates in die Schlacht zu ziehen.

    So much hate for this game but if you take out the few bugs that's I've come across, it's graphically stunning, incredibly fun and overall back to a normal battlefield game. Am I gutted there's no campaign, of course but battlefield has always mostly been online anyway

Every character should have masks like the shield guy that can’t use his shield. All this is good for is portal. What an absolute waste of money. I’m the idiot that trusted them and bought the ultimate edition though so all I can say is, Dice won’t be getting anotherThis is the last battlefield I’ll ever buy.     I'm not going to waste my time regurgitating what everyone else has said. Go to the subreddit and look at the long list of disappointments this game offers. I'd say check back in 6 months like after the BF4 launch - but there's not a whole lot to salvage.

    Why do we accept games at the price of this with no campaign and rough multiplayer, when Warzone is free? I just can’t believe that EA try this corner cutting again and again and seem to expect a different outcome. Waste of money and effort. I wish they’d sort out a proper battlefield game…

    This game it just, makes me sad…. On every level. It’s wild to me that they have Battlefield 4 as a the perfect blueprint on what mistakes to not make, and the things that worked, yet they take so many steps backwards… I am so disappointed, I really hope the next game in the series can bring it back to its former glory.

    The worst Battlefield by FAR! Where are the people, who made brilliant Battlefield 1? Horrible map design, too large and crap as a whole, bad framerate, graphics weak on Series X, only Portal is good, including graphics and fps, should have been released as a standalone game to separate it from 2042 trash

It’s also a very poorly balanced game when it comes to game mode population and most vehicles, weapons plus the stupidest idea to have character personalities that are ‘customised’, instead of original classes and loadouts? Other issues include: poor kill notification, ridiculous looking post-match ‘avatar clone line up’, a confusing and unclear round reward and gear unlock system - makes the game wholly unrewarding and left feeling like you’ve achieved nothing, regardless of how you performed. It’s like DICE were so focused on getting 128 player on a single map and taking on COD - that they didn’t bother considering much else? A real example of ‘caught in your own soundbox’ development here.

    Stop trying to rip-off other games’ ideas, and get back to what used to make BF the best shooters of all time. I’ve played every BF starting in 2002, and I’ve never once felt the need to write a poor review. But sadly and with no exaggeration: this could be the worst one so far. Good job I played a trial for 10 hours and didn’t waste my money beforehand, this is the ONLY BF game in franchise history that I have not purchased.     It's a really good game, yes it has its issues but there is no other game (for console) as massive as this multiplayer games, it's a new battlefield with ups and downs but overall a good game.

    I have played around 4,000 hours of battlefield games and around 30 hours with 2042 with early access. I have spent a fair share of my gaming career in these first-person shooters. That being said, I have never, ever seen such a bad game from a technical perspective on launch (Aside from Fallout 76). It's bad guys. Don't get me wrong, when everything works it's a blast but the number ofI have played around 4,000 hours of battlefield games and around 30 hours with 2042 with early access. I have spent a fair share of my gaming career in these first-person shooters. That being said, I have never, ever seen such a bad game from a technical perspective on launch (Aside from Fallout 76). It's bad guys. Don't get me wrong, when everything works it's a blast but the number of bugs and issues I run into every single game... It's comical.

    List of bugs I've experienced in my 40 hours so far with this game.

    1.) Your loadout screen wipes and you default to a DMR and you are unable to pick your loadouts. (You can circumvent this by going into the customize screen in the pause menu "Create new Loadout" and you will then be able to play with your new loadout. but this still requires you to redo all your loadout options. (This happens about 8/10 games I've played)
    2.) Breakthrough will simply not let me in. If I launch into the lobby, It will put me in a game but it will not allow me to spawn at all. You are literally stuck on the map. I tried 10 games, I tried resetting my system, I even tried joining friends. All the same result, unable to play.
    3.) Weapon blooming/bullet spread is laughable. I have 8 clips of different circumstances where I got the flank on about 3 enemies, laid an entire clip into them, and nothing. Easily they turned and shot me and won the gunfight. Mind you, im not the best battlefield player but I KNOW when I should be landing my shots. The spread is insane for ARs DO NOT USE THEM. You will lose the majority of your gunfights.
    4.) Anti-air rocket. Taking down helis is a favorite time of mine in this franchise. There are games where all I'll do is take out helis and jets. The amount of glitchy rocket launching I've had is insane. If you fire the rocket too quickly and instantly click the reload button, the "RELOAD" notice on your screen will NOT go away.
    5.) XP and Rewards. There were matches, 45-minute matches, 60 kill games where I received ZERO XP or kill counts to my weapons. Waste of time.
    6.) Weapon attachments. They either disappear or don't actually do anything statistically for recoil patterns or stability. Sometimes. I'd say this Happened about 4/10 games I played.
    7.) The UI is quite possibly the WORST UI I have ever seen in a video game. How the HELL did this get past QA. What director in his right mind thought "MAN THIS IS A GREAT UI." **** man. Its terrible.

    There are more minor issues I've found but none compare to the frustration of these above. Please don't buy this game yet. You'll spend upwards of $70-140 for this game that literally doesn't work OR look as good as it did in the advertisements.

    I'm always finding myself on the hype train for Battlefield games. Because **** man, I love... loved this franchise. This game has incredible potential. The specialists, as much as I was skeptical, I REALLY enjoy them. (Unpopular opinion) Having different playstyles around what you want to do has been a WELCOME addition.

    Save yourself the frustration and wait until you see the community take to the improvements the devs need to make. We are angry.

    If you're new to the franchise or a casual COD player coming over to check it out, welcome to the fam. I hope you will one day see why we love this franchise so much, but right now, you won't. I hate that for you. Some of my favorite experiences in gaming have happened from a battlefield match. I hope this helps some of you. Here's to a better Battlefield future. The only thing we can do is hound the devs to the bugs and issues we are experiencing. But given DICE's previous history, I really do not see all of these gettings fixed till 3-6 months out. I was excited for it, but it turns out they just wanted to push out a turd that feels like too much like COD to get those players instead of making it for BF fans.     Most of the things either don’t work at all or are seriously glitched out.
    Getting stuck in the environment, fps issues. Flickering screens left and right. Packet bursts and lag galore. I thought Cod Vanguard was bad, but BF2042 takes the cake.

    On XSS there is nice stable FPS. But many bugs and problems with netcode makes the game awful. Hazard zone is absolutely useless mode. Original modes of BF 2042 are not playable because of bad balance and awful level design. The only reason to buy this game is BF Portal. But bad optimisation also can spoil your experience in Portal modes.

    The game was re-zoned as the heir to the worm's part, but it's impossible to play it. You can't mark enemies normally, you just don't see them, even when someone nearby is firing at them. The maps are too big, this is a running and death simulator. WHY DON'T JUST UPDATE PART 4 FOR CURRENT GENERATION !!? It will be played more than "IT". I will not return to this game again.

The characters that you have to choose from look dumb as hell like they were picked at some woke diversity meeting and not battle hardened war veterans. There is to many people on one map.     After several updates, this game is good now. You should give it a try! Graphics are nice, new weapons and characters give more options to player. After playing mw2 for weeks and getting back to battlefield, I can say that I enjoy bf 2042 than mw2.

    The game has pauper direction, which results in a bug ridden, rushed (not even a freaking scoreboard, what the hell?) mess with zero soul put from DICE, the developer,    No Xbox Series X/S update for physical owners of the disc and no mentioning on the box (because they're 98% IDENTICAL, unlike the PlayStation versions); offer that stands only for the digital versions of the game.

    Technically as sound as a dumpster fire. Impossible to play a game without running into some kind of issues. Don’t even get me started on missing basic features such as a map, voice chat (for a cooperative multiplayer game at that!), a scoreboard, and countless other things. This cash grab has erased battlefield’s identity. Save your money.

    Tbh I'm not getting bugs some have had, but it's just a bit bland and devoid of anything interesting ....

    Maps are dull, vehicle op, not well balanced or thought out Bf3/bad company 2 on the 360 had more destructable environments, compare the tornado in bf2042 and the storm on bf4 on the level with islands, you would think bf2042 was on ps4/xbox one and bf4 was on ps5/xbox series x.     My favourite battlefield since Bad company 2. It has bugs for sure. Could do with more weapons BUT- portal has weapons from multiple generations. More destructible environments BUT- the most destructible levels seen in previous titles are in portal. Needs a class system BUT- each operator belongs to a class. Love this game, needs work but it's so damn fun and doesn't get enough credit.My favourite battlefield since Bad company 2. It has bugs for sure.     Destruction is still cool, and in the end I have to give the creators credit for the fact that the much marketing-washed akedo has its moments. Everything else that made a good Battlefield is completely missing, and that chase for record-breaking size or player count is really a poor substitute for well-designed maps, rich content in the form of game modes, and certainly no substitute for the original class system that the gameplay has always relied on in the first place.     Battlefield 2042 is a huge disappointment for gamers and the Battlefield franchise. Had this been the product of an indie developer, then this might be a different story as it would be understandable how a game like this could be the product of an independent studio that doesn’t have enormous corporate backing. Instead, EA pumped more resources into creating a CGI film that acts as the only real source of storyline context than ensuring the game was going to live up to the enormous amount of hype they were trying to create. I hate saying such negative things in my reviews, but when a game developer can’t be bothered to even try and live up to it’s own legacy, then I have to call it as I see it and for that very reason, I don’t recommend this game. Not even the nostalgia or temptation of ‘Battlefield Portal’ is enough to save this game from itself.

    Battlefield 2042 absolutely should have been pushed back by EA and DICE to some point in 2022. Instead, the version of this game that is currently available has been virtually unplayable for me at times since first releasing. Even beyond this, though, some of the key design changes that DICE has made in Battlefield 2042 don't feel for the better. Rather than improving on the core Battlefield experience that fans loved with Battlefield 3, 4, or Bad Company 2, 2042 is a bloated husk of its former self that is trying to recapture some semblance of its previous glory. As a fan that has been playing this series for well over a decade, Battlefield 2042 is a massive disappointment that I struggle to think is even worth saving.
