    It's a really good game, yes it has its issues but there is no other game (for console) as massive as this multiplayer games, it's a new battlefield with ups and downs but overall a good game.

    After several updates, this game is good now. You should give it a try! Graphics are nice, new weapons and characters give more options to player. After playing mw2 for weeks and getting back to battlefield, I can say that I enjoy bf 2042 than mw2.

    Great game, Yes there are issues as there is with all games in the past 10 years. However when the game works, its great fun. Its just came out, got to give it time. If this game was delayed people would complain, and now its in early release, people are complaining, only way they can fix this game quickly and effectively is in the real world with us, the players.

    I have played this in Tech Test, Beta and early release, I can see this game has come a long way in a good way since Tech. I have a feeling I shouldn't of said this, but its the best example I got, Tech was buggy, terrible and unplayable, Beta was playable but with just as many bugs, and now early release its playable with a lot less bug than Beta.

    From playing this game from Tech to now, I can safely see there is progress, and the only way they can make the progress is with us. Give them time, they will get the fixes needed and we will see Battlefield become a great game.

    People just have to remember. Devs need real world data to get the game to reach it potential.    … Expand

    The game is great, a few small bugs however nothing overly game breaking. It looks amazing it plays really well the bugs are in the UI not loading but that’s an easy fix considering the game isn’t even out yet

    If this game was called something other than Battlefield, it would actually be fine... give it a ten! However - BF is different from the rest because of things like massive wars, absolutely destruction of the environment, and great vehicles/weapons.     Hardly anything can be destroyed no matter how many times you hit it with a tank shell. No classes - which is weird I can look like a sniper running around with machine gun.

    What happened to all the cool vehicles from BF past? This one is lame. Basics. Nothing more really. Tank, Jeep, Transport heli, 2 attack heli, and a plane.

    This is basically a redone Battlefield 4 with a new engine, yet somehow poorly done if thats even possible..

    So anyways, if it was released as another name, it would be fine, but using the Battlefield name and taking away EVERYTHING that was battliefield is insane... back to BFV I go - funny never thought I'd say that.    … Expand

    I don't know why people hate this game so much. I have played all bf’s since bf 4 for several hundreds hours each. Imo it’s the best battlefield of all time.

    Played recently (season 4), outstanding game (audio, graphics and massive battles). Cross-play really helped to find game faster. 128 players on one map is badass! Thanks developers!

    Battlefield 2042 is very much so underrated. The game is extremely fun. While it has it's issues, it has great maps and great gameplay.

    I hate writing reviews, I rarely ever see any game worth writing one, and when one is warranted its usually because the game is so bad that I feel I need to dedicate time out of my day just to express how bad I feel it is.... This however, is the opposite, I have seen this game trashed by so many people and I wholeheartedly believe a vast majority haven't played the game for long, or in some instances, at all, and are just bandwagon trashing it.

    Take into consideration the game has only been released just today, save you, like I, are one of the few who shelled out 90$ or more for a week's early access, and I'm sorry, but if you've shelled out that much money you're likely still playing it and are having a fun time because you're a fan of the series.

    So what i will attempt to do is address the widespread issues most are bandwagoning on about and my take on them, as well as give my honest review.

    Alright, number one issue (for some reason) lack of scoreboard...First, this is Battlefield, not call of duty. Not some battle-royale **** or arena style shooter; this is a massive game where objectives are the focus (if you intend on winning) not running laps around a small map trying to rack up kill-streaks. That's never been what battlefield has been about, and all a scoreboard does is stroke the Ego's of sweaties who already knoe how well they've been doing probably because they have an app they're using to keep manual count themselves. It just adds their name to the top of the end-game screen for all to see, so what. Ive seen people have huge amounts of kills and still fall under those at the very top of the leaderboard who spent their time actually capturing objectives or defending strategic points because that garners more points anyway. The second thing it does is flame the fans of toxicity that inherently exist in shooters because we can all see the guy who went 2/37 at the bottom of the screen... People inevitably flame that guy, in chat, in VC, hell I've had terrible games in the past and had people DM on xbox with toxic words... that doesnt help the game, that only takes the fun out of it for players and detracts from the teamwork needed in this style of game. And if you're thinking oh no it's not that bad (the toxicity), you're kidding yourself. I've already witnessed so much toxicity and flaming in open chat and that's without the scoreboard, and its only been a week.

    Character classes. Yup, they went in a totally different direction and added "class abilities". You'll either love it or hate it, i like having character abilities personally, "hero" models at a new way to impact the game and honestly class loadouts dont meed to exist anymore because you can custom loadout everything pretty much from the start. Something they've changed and adapted over the years as tactics in shooters overall changed... lets be honest here, how many people enjoyed having to change to engineer from say "recon" because you were annoyed at all the damn tanks and vehicles and the only way to access the RPG was as an engineer. IMO that's a dumb design, now you dont have to worry about that, i run around for example with a sniper rifle and Anti Air rockets because i hate helicopters. You like to play medic, there's an actual "Hero" with a medic like ability and you can choose med-packs as a gadget tool and still have your choice of gun and not be confined to SMGs only.

    Gunplay: The implementation of changing your gun on the fly is the most unique thing I've seen in any shooter in a long while. Although it works better for some weapon subsets than others. Ie: assault rifles benefit greatly, as where snipers not as much. But the concept is so unique and adds to options and choices for your playstyle. I honestly fail to see how this is a negative, you want an 4x scope vs a holo sight because you found a good camping spot, change it on the fly and you no longer have to die just to alter your attachments, which in many previous games you couldnt do anyway unless you were on the main menu.

    Negatives: The game obviously has negatives and bugs, those are being repaired and will be repaired inevitably, and for those that are saying "it ahould have been ready" some of these bugs and glitches dont show themselves until you mash 1000's onto the servers and people from the outsidw notice and report them. The maps I feel there are far too few (5 for now) this will obviously be remedied over time. The gun attachment system is locked behind an immense number of kills required with said weapon to unlock a single attachment for it. I'd suggest making "assists" count as well. I think you need like 1600 kills total to unlock all attachments for each weapon, and you have to do it for every weapon. Certain "Hero" are clearly the preferred, grappling hook and wingsuit equals free mobility. Meanwhile the "hacker" only affects a few things on the map. The level of destruction feels smaller than previous BF's.    … Expand

    I am enjoying the game. As time goes on it will improve as do most games. Im happy with what I have right now.
    Portal is a good throwback to the battlefield bad company 2 days and battlefield 3, heck even 1942 is in there.
    Cross play i turned off since keyboard and mouse just destroys my controller.

    People need to remember that it’s not even day 1 yet, yes the game has flaws currently, but it’s early on, let’s discuss the good things, graphics, increase field or view, tidy scoreboard system mid game. There is a lot to do yet, but the negative scores are certainly not fair at this point in the game

    Теперь о плюсах:
    1. Удобная кастомизация оружия на манер Crysis.
    2. Потрясающий визуал.
    3. Просто невероятная атмосфера и те самые ощущения, которые были при игре в BF3 и BF4.
    4. 128 человек это однозначно круто. Даже есть какая-то загрузка ботами, лично я этого не заметил.
    5. Hard Zone однозначно хороший, но пока невнятный режим. Надеюсь, что его доведут до ума и его не постигнет участь Fire Storm из BF5
    6. Portal - возможность поиграть в классику однозначный плюс.

    Как итог - это явно не игра года и от части сломанная игра, но в конце концов я получаю от неё удовольствие и не думаю, что она заслуживает 3 балла. Самая разумная на сегодняшний день оценка - 7 баллов, но я авансом оставлю 8 баллов, так как надеюсь, что разработчики извлекли хотябы какие-то уроки из проблем BF5 и в ближайшем будущем доведут все до ума:)    … Expand

    Also es ist noch viel Arbeit, aber der Spielspaß und die Grafik sind Top. Natürlich gibt es Bugs und auch die Performance sind Verbesserungs würdig. Aber ich denke das es nie Perfekte Games am Ersten Tag gibt, Warzone ist nach über einem Jahr immer noch nicht Fertig.

    Mit hat es Spaß gemacht und nach einen Tag kann ich es kaum abwarten wieder mit meinen Mates in die Schlacht zu ziehen.

    My late 2022 review of this game is basically that this game came back in a big way. They have supported the heck out of this game (pulling the Titanfall/Apex team over to work on it and fix its faults). There are tons of new maps and mods, the battle passes are actually pretty good. The game works and plays really well now and they are getting rid of the hero    I'd call it a comeback!

    This game's comeback however, does not excuse how bad the launch was, it was in all honesty a broken game with no content at release. Publishers have to start forcing games out like this. With that said this is a great game to come back to now if you want a great battlefield experience on next gen.    … Expand

    I think, as some players have said, that you should give this game another chance, especially since season 4 is coming out soon, and this is a good reason to get back into the game and try to play a couple of games.    … Expand

    I'm still giving it a 7 because I'm really enjoying the game despite the flaws. I think it feels better to play, it's gorgeous and runs great on series x and PC. I was playing today at ultra settings with ray tracing at 4k60 no DLSS. With DLSS on quality I easily hit 80 and with DLSS and RT off I was averaging 107.

    Why include this in an Xbox review? Simple... Aside from ray tracing the Xbox version holds up quite well against PC. Yes PC looks better but not in a way that you notice during gameplay. It also loads SIGNIFICANTLY faster on Xbox.

    I see people complaining about the new class system but I like it. I hated being stuck in a certain role and being limited to certain weapons. There's no reason a medic or mechanic can't carry an assault rifle or dmr.

    The only real gripe I have is there's no scoreboard but I also understand it. If you're not that good but enjoy playing but constantly see your name at or near the bottom of the list it's probably going to push you away from playing.

    The worst Battlefield by FAR! Where are the people, who made brilliant Battlefield 1? Horrible map design, too large and crap as a whole, bad framerate, graphics weak on Series X, only Portal is good, including graphics and fps, should have been released as a standalone game to separate it from 2042 trash

    Not the best Battlefield but not a bad game either. Right now there is some fun here, good gunfight, good gameplay. Games looks good in Series X. There are bugs, some of them really annoying, but I still have a good time playing this game.
    It has the potential of being great in some months. Right now I give it a 7.

I definitely admit there's a lack of features and I really hope they iron out all the issues everyone is experiencing. I have had a lot of fun switching between Xbox one and series x version of the game on my series x.     The biggest issue I have with this game is the lack of content in general. I know down the line the game will be near perfect but to have to go through the first few months with only about 5 base maps and 22 guns is very upsetting and disappointing to say the least. They also managed to include all maps and the fact that the browser for games hosted is fantastic. I love that we have variety available toI give a 7 as I remain hopeful that they fix the issues with this game.     I do enjoy the game. But there are to many bugs for me to truly enjoy the game so until a patch is released I wouldn't recommend buying.

Но больше всего разочаровал кроссплей с ПК и отсутствие поддержки клавиатуры и мыши как в COD например, от чего собственно постоянно выхватывал от игроков с ПК. Many people claim that this doesn't feel like a battlefield claim, I disagree, but there is still valid criticism, like the ui missing alot of features, but, to me aleast, the massive large scale Battles are what makes battlefield battlefield. It has that chaotic insane game play. Howevery, there are criticism about the maps, they are too too flat and need more cover. Now, this may be different for people playing on 64 player servers, as there are less people trying to kill you, but 128 servers, there are too many people trying to kill you. Many people don't like the specialist system, personally I don't see it as better or worse then the 4 class system, just different. Many people claim it promotes selfish playing, but I strongly disagree, there are specialist that are design to play by themselves, but there are also specialist that promote team work, like one that allows people to change load outs, the shield op best played in pairs, one to shot, one to block, a medic, and one that puts shields for everyone. One specialist effects enemies, electronics making them easier for your entire team to kill. Also I have seen people use a wide spread of gadgets that help the entire team. I have been revived plenty of times by other players. The gun play is not as good as bfv, it just feels clunky and awkward, but not the worst, it's definitely playable. The portal is great, just feel like it should have more progression to them, also the guns in portal should be in bf2042, I thought it was very weird that they weren't there. The game is kinda buggy on Xbox series s, but most definitely playable, can't talk about pc. This isn't the best bf, but if you are willing to put up with glitches and plain maps, the I recommend this game, it is very fun and chaotic.… Expand

    2. Visualisation = even on series X the game looks like BF3 = agreed, but also I see bugs and framerate drop down ... how come?!

    3. I cannot choose the server ... when I enter the server and team is OK in 99% after the round game is looking for the new server and I cannot play with the same team even 2x rounds!

    4. Maps = battlewalk 2042 especially in conquest ... it's too long and emty walking distances! In rush the play is much more fun and you see the 128 teammates surround ... 5. Every fraction = same skins!!! How come?! You see no difference between RU and US! When you read something about game you can understand the story behind .. and it seems logical ... but why it was not described in the game? That this is not RU to US conflict and both fractions used 3rd party troops?    … Expand

    lacks any destruction, specialists are cringe and character movement feels badly designed . Specialist abilities can be fun, weather hazards are really cool and the actual gunplay feels satisfying. Theres a lack of much content if u really want to dive in and the maps at times feel too empty with little cover.

    The recent season 1 update was okay but it could be wayyyy better. It lacks on guns and they only added 1 map the game is getting better but it’s quite not there yet.

Companies have been trying to so hard to feign ignorance of that and claim that the game will come out right when everyone first thought it would and that just isn't the case anymore. This game needed another 6 months, easy. A year would've made this THE Battlefield to beat. More playtesting. More network/beta tests. Halo is raising the bar for what is expected and what CAN BE DONE when you give the game time to blossom.

    To corroborate my experience: some games I can't start (Breakthrough, mainly) because it just doesn't load the game. Often times my customizations for my character will be wiped when a game starts and all of my loadout options are blank. I try to hold RB to access my radial menu and it flickers before turning off. 50% of the time I can't revive someone as no prompt is shown. The hit registration might as well not exist, and some weapons are just clearly imbalanced. As I said, this would have been a perfect experience in a years time. I can't recommend this right now.

    For the first time in a very, very long time, I genuinely felt cheated by buying into this game. By the time it is worth the money I invested in it, it will be 1/4 of the price. I'm definitely salty.    … Expand

    I have a series x and my friend has Xbox one and I’m forced to play the last gen version of the game to play with him which obviously sucks. The characters that you have to choose from look dumb as hell like they were picked at some woke diversity meeting and not battle hardened war veterans. There is to many people on one map. You can’t take five steps with out being killed. Waste of money

More destructible environments BUT- the most destructible levels seen in previous titles are in portal. Needs a class system BUT- each operator belongs to a class. Tornadoes and stuff, for instance, are more like just visual effect than actual game-changer like some of levolutions in BF4 or behemoths from BF1 were. Hazard Zone is just pathetic, Dice should remove it and rework. Oh yes, no voice chat.
    Fourth, I played on Series S, and on that machine, 2042 looks not good at all. Runs smoothly at stable 60 fps but textures and resolution are blurry and have sharp edges especially on long-range objects. I believe that Series S can do it better if developers optimize the game.
    Finally, maybe in the future 2042 became a really good game. But right now it's just an unfinished shooter with a lot of troubles and mediocre game design.    … Expand

    I think the game is fun, have played it since early release (gold edition) and have had many fun hours. but of course it needs to be "fixed a bit" in the form of bugs among other things. but the only thing I reacted to is that it does not always feel completely optimized. I highly recommend the game and it can only get better.

I highly recommend going to the portal and searching for milsim servers. They are a lot of fun. I wouldn't recommend buying this game at full price because it simply isn't worth it, when its on sale you should pick it up though. There is some fun to be had.    … Expand

With BFV and BF2042 moving towards a different direction I think the franchise is losing a lot of BF fans, including me.     Hard to say this is a Battlefield game, no iteration on previous titles here, just a gutting of a favored franchise.

    Lacking leader boards, there's barely any destruction on maps and it's filled with bugs like not being able to revive team mates, and team mates not showing markers so you think they are enemies. There's also only 2 game modes on All Out Warfare and the load out menu is terrible. Don't buy this game yet, it's not worth it.

    Game needed more time in the oven but hey gotta please the shareholders. All out Warfare is ok and Hazard Zone is such a joke. It shoulda been free. The game’s saving grace is Portal. However I don’t know how long people will stick around to play portal. The fact that older BF games are more popular than the new game mode shows that Dice is unable to make a new battlefield game.

    The jet flying mechanics are garbage compared to previous titles, the rubber banding makes it impossible to dogfight, the hitreg is broken.
    Bring back the old classes (RECON, ENGINEER, MEDIC, SUPPORT).
    They delayed the game and didn't added a campaign for this?
    I give this game a 3 because portal is worth it

I've been a battlefield fan since battlefield 2 (2005) and I have witnessed all the crappy lunches of all the series, THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT! The problem in 2042 is the core game itself and it's design, And this can't be reversed with a patch or update. I've been a battlefield fan since battlefield 2 (2005) and I have witnessed all the crappy lunches of all the series, THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT! The problem in 2042 is the core game itself and it's design, And this can't be reversed with a patch or update. The aiming, movement, environment, weapons, vehicles and the sandbox feeling all feel different in a very bad way that makes you think that you're playing some free to play game called apex of duty: battlefield edition. Even if all the glitches and bugs were fixed, This game would still a medicore game you get for 10$ at some ebay listing. Its really sad this what we get after all the hype for destruction, teamwork, sandbox clusterfuk fights and the good feeling of the whole team is giving all they got to complete the objective. And PLEASE don't believe the people talking about the Portal, It's indeed fun and everything but there is no progress over there, No ranks, No XP, No unlocks, It's only good for some nostalgia of how this game was great one day.… Expand

    This game feels like a cheap attempt to cash-in on the Overwatch hero system to sell skins to rich children. The game is buggy and the class system is gone, along with destructions and weapon variety in order to get the game out before the holidays. This used to be my favorite multiplayer series but I can no longer support it. Save your money and time and don't but this title.

    Many many bugs... Can't revive anyone with a pixel clipping in any object, AAmissle has the shortest lock on range so you can't possibly destroy helis and jets sufficiently. The hover craft is absolutely broken you would think it was heavy armour but it's a transport vehicle..

    Hit reg is a complete joke, fire a full 100 mag of the lmg into a player about 10m away and never hit them like    Many many bugs...     Specialists are just meh, creates a meta game, would of been better having the original class system and placing specialists on there respective class you no longer have a clue who has ammo or health.
    No scoreboard or stats screen? Why?
    What has happened to platoons?
    22 guns? 2 of Which are shotguns?
    Conquest is pretty much running simulator2042 so much dead space on the map.
    Breakthrough if you can get in a game that's not broken it's decent.

    What happened to he other game modes like QBC no vehicles? All we get in "all out warfare" is running sim and breakthrough.

    Hazardzone it's a waste of time and boring.
    Portal is fun but due to the abuse of xp farming you no longer earn xp in portal so now that's a waste of time playing.

    The game has some great potential to be a great game but the lack of polish this game released with is a joke even after a month delay to make sure it was polished and ready. Should of been delayed until 2022. dead space on the maps    … Expand

    The least Battlefield, Battlefield, in the series. DICE has been on a downward path since their last release, and after having built so much hype on a game seemingly designed for “BF Veterans” - the game couldn’t be further from what BF Veterans enjoyed in years past.

    Dice ruined this franchise. I am extremely disappointed that the way they treated us games like 2nd hand garbage then started to blame other games for their flop. It has fun moments though.

    This is the last battlefield I’ll ever buy. Not only does the Specialist system suck but the character designs are awful. Every character should have masks like the shield guy that can’t use his shield. All this is good for is portal. What an absolute waste of money. I’m the idiot that trusted them and bought the ultimate edition though so all I can say is, Dice won’t be getting anotherThis is the last battlefield I’ll ever buy.     This game it just, makes me sad…. On every level. It’s wild to me that they have Battlefield 4 as a the perfect blueprint on what mistakes to not make, and the things that worked, yet they take so many steps backwards… I am so disappointed, I really hope the next game in the series can bring it back to its former glory.

    I love bf games, but this one just has terrible design. I usually understand that there's a lot of year 1 balancing on weapons and skills all that, but this should have not been released as is. The bugs are awful, even after the fixes taken from early access. It's really just too much to recommend this game to anyone. Having to leave 50% of games due to a bug is unacceptable, especially after a beta and a early release time. OP weapons and vehicles can be fixed, but the list of game breaking bugs is just too long at the moment to even get to balancing. I'll give them credit on portal, it seemed to run well the little I played it. Unfortunately I already played those games so I can't really score this game based on games I played 5 years ago… Expand

    Destruction is still cool, and in the end I have to give the creators credit for the fact that the much marketing-washed akedo has its moments. Everything else that made a good Battlefield is completely missing, and that chase for record-breaking size or player count is really a poor substitute for well-designed maps, rich content in the form of game modes, and certainly no substitute for the original class system that the gameplay has always relied on in the first place.     Battlefield 2042 is a huge disappointment for gamers and the Battlefield franchise. Had this been the product of an indie developer, then this might be a different story as it would be understandable how a game like this could be the product of an independent studio that doesn’t have enormous corporate backing. Instead, EA pumped more resources into creating a CGI film that acts as the only real source of storyline context than ensuring the game was going to live up to the enormous amount of hype they were trying to create. I hate saying such negative things in my reviews, but when a game developer can’t be bothered to even try and live up to it’s own legacy, then I have to call it as I see it and for that very reason, I don’t recommend this game. Not even the nostalgia or temptation of ‘Battlefield Portal’ is enough to save this game from itself.

    Battlefield 2042 absolutely should have been pushed back by EA and DICE to some point in 2022. Instead, the version of this game that is currently available has been virtually unplayable for me at times since first releasing. Even beyond this, though, some of the key design changes that DICE has made in Battlefield 2042 don't feel for the better. Rather than improving on the core Battlefield experience that fans loved with Battlefield 3, 4, or Bad Company 2, 2042 is a bloated husk of its former self that is trying to recapture some semblance of its previous glory. As a fan that has been playing this series for well over a decade, Battlefield 2042 is a massive disappointment that I struggle to think is even worth saving.
