    Meh. Way over hyped bio shock clone. Boring lack luster. Pass on this game for the fact that it brings nothing new to the table. Infantile, bug riddled, robot fetish game.

    From the start, this game captivated me with its beautiful world and premise. It all looks and sounds very nice. The presentation is, in fact, the best thing it offers. Great artstyle,    Atomic Heart is probably the worst game I've finished in 2023 so far. And that is a shame, giving the major potential it had. The main problem here is lack of identity and bad execution of good ideas.

    From the start, this game captivated me with its beautiful world and premise. It all looks and sounds very nice. The presentation is, in fact, the best thing it offers.

    Great artstyle, cool animations, an amazing soundtrack, creepy enemies, crazy abilities and even crazier weapons. It was all off to a good start. Hell, even the jokes were fun, ocasionally. But... the more I played the more I disliked it.

    For every good thing in Atomic Heart, there are two equally bad things. That feeling only got worse by the time I watched the credits roll. The enemy variety got stale, the semi-open world got boring, the interior environments got repetitive, puzzles were obnoxious, melee combat became a joke, the difficulty spiked out of nowhere, the sense of pregression halted... the magic just died.

    Honestly, the story was the only thing that, in my opinion, got better as I moved forward, but that was ultimately held back by bad character development, poor storytelling (like dumping major plot points on you while robots kept jumping in your face), empty endings and a gameplay that just didn't seem to hold up! I can't quite put my finger on why, but I started to loathe how its slow and cumbersome system plays and, especially, its inconsistent pace.

    And those bosses? My god, they were insufferable! I'm not kidding when I say that this game would improve, like, 30% if they fixed boss fights. Almost all of them felt annoying, frustrating and, most of all, unrewarding. The only ones I enjoyed were the two final battles. Pack this with the amount of dreadful puzzles you encounter in the game and you have yourself a very tedious experience. And not all of the puzzles were bad. Some were quite clever. But there were A LOT of them and A LOT of unnecessary and recurring ones.

    One of the puzzles even made me play SNAKE, FOR **** SAKE...

    Atomic Heart's real problem lies in its identity crisis. It was almost as if the game tried to be other great FPS games. It wanted to be Wolfenstein, Bioshock, Fallout, Duke Nukem, Dishonored, Half Life and it managed to be nothing. Not even its own thing.

    There is fun to be had here. But very little. It's cool to try this out if you have Gamepass. If you don't, just don't waste your time.    … Expand

    Game looks really good, although all the good stuff is just a decoration. You can’t even jump out of the window, for god’s sake.
    It’s well done technically. Animations are smooth and basic combat is fine. The problem is that it lacks everything else. The gameplay is boring, the writing is terrible. Overall, after first 30 minutes good impression is replaced by boredom, then annoyanceboredom

    Was extremely excited for this game before launch only to realize the writing was on par with an edgy 13 year old, extremely cringey protagonist with terrible voice acting almost like they picked a random guy off the street. Not to mention how buggy this was even on a series x. Constant frame drops and blurry visuals. It's almost like they knew this game had nothing new to offer so they just advertised to the soyboys who think the robots are hot.… Expand

    Naive plot, stupid main character(literally), poor combat(QTE, yuck) and a terrible, terrible ending. Moreover, from a tech point of view, this game is a disaster, often freezes, crashes and loses fps.
    Not recommend.

    Troppi bug. Mi ne è capitato uno dopo l'ultima patch che non mi fa piu andare avanti perché quando prendo un ascensore nella storia mi sprofonda sotto la mappa. Ho ricaricato il salvataggio più volte ma nnt. Già come gioco in se ha diversi limiti, poi se capitano pure questi bug è grave.

    Gioco noioso, open world inutile, stealt fatto malissimo, movimenti legnosi, menu di gioco    Troppi bug.     This travesty of a game is especially marred by incredibly non-intuitive controls (and no in-game explanation or control-layout map to help understand), which seems like a gross oversight on the part of the developers, and makes me think that the game wasn't play-tested outside of the studio (where the developers knew what the button layout was).

    The story is kind of interesting, and the world is different enough, so gets a single point on those areas. But man, you'd think they'd have put better effort into the 'playability' of the game.

    Very glad this was on Gamepass! I would have been extremely upset to have purchased this unfinished mess.

    This game is utterly horrid, don't waste your time or money on it. There's no way this should have been released and this unfinished mess should really be removed from Gamepass.    … Expand

    Idk why but this game made my head hurt after 30min. Not sure if it's graphics, constant forced camera shaking, or frame rate all over the place.

    Back to Deathloop that has no issues like that whatsoever.

    Preloaded the game with game pass on XSX and before lunch day an update the same size of the game and after that played it for 3 hours and it has nothing special at all except the opening. Horrible open world, boring missions and an extremely bizarre storytelling and script,
    If that’s not enough add horrible jokes and comments of protagonist and advertising USSR and Easter eggs… you don’t    Preloaded the game with game pass on XSX and before lunch day an update the same size of the game and after that played it for 3 hours and it has nothing special at all except the opening. Although you can't pop the balloons. I'm shocked that some no-name studio of developers founded in 2017 can give me a game with superior quality than most modern "AAA" games, not to mention that theirThis game has stunning graphics. This just proves that developers these days are too greedy and lazy. Seeing this level of quality from Mundfish in Unreal Engine 4 means there is literally no excuse for experienced and larger team of developers to not give me a game with top notch AAA quality priced at $70, especially when their publisher has more money than Focus Entertainment.

    The AAA quality is pretty much the only cool thing about this game. For a game with such scarce ammo, there are too many flying enemies not to mention the amount of bullet sponges. So I'm basically forced to use the melee weapons and superpowers, which are too sluggish. The levels are lazily designed and so are the puzzles. The protagonist is so annoying. The story is horrible with cringeworthy dialogue. You can only drive one boring old red Russian car, not to mention how awful the driving mechanics are. The greedy developers didn't want to give us more vehicles or at least different colors. There is only one good boss fight and the rest are boring and repetitive. The physics are a joke. While the soundtrack isn't bad at all, it is completely random.

    There is no multiplayer. So once you beat the story, there is literally not a reason to play this game again. Charging $70 for a game with no replay value is a cash grab. If developers are going to charge me $70 for one-and-done trash, they should at least put it in a subscription service. That is one thing the developers got right with Xbox Game Pass, but that still doesn't fully excuse the outrageous price of $70. I decided to re-subscribe to Game Pass as Microsoft finally gave me with AAA quality at launch, but unfortunately it's not from Xbox Game Studios themselves. Seeing how these developers can give me a game with top-notch AAA quality with far less money than Microsoft, I will be going into every $70 game owned by Xbox with high expectations. You better not disappoint me Xbox Game Studios. I only recommend this game until it's $15-20 if you don't have Game Pass.    … Expand

    The game has profanity in large numbers, which I consider unacceptable. There is no culture in games, movies, etc. Degradation of culture, it's disgusting.

Also, the game contains a lot of Russian and anti-Ukrainian propaganda, including photos of Donetsk, propagating communism, and ideas of one country. The main characters are KGB major, who is a good man, and this fact is related to Putin. Shame to Microsoft that they paid for this bad game to be presented in Game Pass.     Beautiful game, but it's undercooked af. I found the gunplay to be really un-fun even after getting all the powers and trying out upgrades. Try it on gamepass first, I think you'll be glad you did.

    Looks like demo, not a real game: the world around is not interactive, the dialogues are cringe-worthy, and the idea is copied from bioshock.

    Rare crap. You can browse through the entire PlayStation store of cheap triple-C stuff and you won't find anything as **** as this one. Absolute waste of money and time, better get that Hogwarts Legacy instead

    Terrible game with one of the worst endings I've played in the last decade.... walking puzzle simulator (puzzle every other door) with occasional combat that can be fun but is ruined by infinite spawning enemies outdoors, most of which are bullet sponges. The setting is nice and refreshing and visuals and update mechanics are fun as well but everything else like the terrible story,Terrible game with one of the worst endings I've played in the last decade.... walking puzzle simulator (puzzle every other door) with occasional combat that can be fun but is ruined by infinite spawning enemies outdoors, most of which are bullet sponges.     The game had promise with a interesting plot and visually appealing aesthetic but is unfortunately let down by horrendous VO/ writing, unwieldy melee combat and poor gameplay. In the end it just feels like a bad bioshock knock off that was written by a 12 year old. I ended up uninstalling after about 4-5hrs of gameplay. Disappointing.

Characters aren’t growing during the game and the protagonist is annoying. Atomic heart turn out to be unfinished long-term construction, a bunch of scattered ideas not brought to a decent level.

    Gameplay 2/10
    – The game is very easy and casual, increasing the difficulty level doesn’t make the game harder, more interesting: it’s just increasing the number of hits till enemy death. Enemy behavior and attacks are predictable and stupid so the game is not hard on any difficulty level. The compass and points on the screen always tell you where to go, which door to open, who to kill. All the loot highlights 10 meters around you. You don’t have to research anything, even think about what is going on.
    – Door and robot hacking is boring – random rounding of wires and fast button pushing. It is not as fascinating as mini-games in Fallout.
    – Loot system is meaningless – you are just vacuuming some sort of obscure rubbish on the shelves. You even can’t understand what actually you are vacuuming.
    – One of the most boring fighting systems in my life. Ordinary nps, bosses: they all are very predictable, have 2-3 movements and 1 attack type. It’s really absolutely annoying.
    – Dismemberment is useful during a gameplay point of view. You can't cut off your enemy leg/hand during the battle. But when the enemy is dead you can hit him and cut off an extremity. What’s the point of this sort of dismemberment?

    Concept and plot 5/10
    + Soviet entourage, agitation and references like magazine Crocodile are nice, especially together with cyber-theme: soviet-punk. Futuristic design looks unique and well-worked. You will listen to a collection of early and late soviet music and meet famous actors, scientists and politicians of the USSR. So it looks like a really curious point of view on alternate soviet history.
    = Main plot thread is quite interesting but it looks unfinished and raw. Characters are not developing during the game, you can't find their traits, motivation, arcs etc. Plot develops fragmentary and slow because there are a lot of fillers inside.
    – Main character – is an absolutely inadequate rude **** unfunny swearing every minute and humiliating everyone around.

    Visualization 4/10
    = Graphics are not bad, at least in part with gross, trees, water and robots. But shadows and people's faces are ugly.
    – There are only 2-3 faces for all the NPC and the same amount of hairstyles and colors. So that’s why people look like robots too.
    – Except for sexy twins, robots are absolutely boring and expressionless benches of metal.

    Sound 8/10
    + There is a lot of cool soviet music both original and well-remixed. This music well complements the atmosphere in the game. And also there is some classic music which is good too.
    + The dev team is using music as a good tool to highlight important and nervous game moments.
    = Main characters are voiced by professional actors and it sounds really amazing. But all other voices like opening doors, hits and jumping are stingy.    … Expand

    But the amount of USSR/Russia propaganda is just insane. Easter eggs about Ukraine is a terrifying joke, I hope studio will figure out how this content end up in game.

    I wanted this game to be better. The tone of dialogue is weird, the game crashes at inexplicable points, and the subtitles are impossible to read without being a foot away from the screen. The worst part is, the game is so confusing (mission wise) that I find myself forgetting what I need to do next and why. It’s also fairly arbitrary when combatants die, so you have to just keep whackingI wanted this game to be better.     Man, I wanted to love this so bad. Can’t get past all the game breaking bugs. Most common example is not being able to pull up weapons when being attacked. Do not buy and don’t even download on game pass. Not worth the time.

    Atomic Heart offers great graphics and enjoyable combat. While the weapon variety is moderate and the story predictable with some cheesy dialogue, the game excels in providing enjoyable character upgrades. Though it may not fully live up to the initial hype, it remains a decent choice for players craving an immersive dystopian game with an incredible soundtrack.

    Atomic Heart surprised me, this is a solid game. And it is very frustrating to see her flaws. I hope that in the sequel, Mundfish will not try to grasp the immensity and focus on what's important.

    Overall, Atomic Heart is an enjoyable FPS title that sadly misses out on being great. From issues that were stated above, Atomic Heart had the potential to be up there with games such as Bioshock, but in the end came up short. While the plot does offer some amazing moments that seem to raise more questions than they answer, Atomic Heart fails to deliver any meaningful reason to go explore and in that reality, shortens the gametime to about 15 hours(ish). Despite all that, did I have fun playing the game? Without question yes. Atomic Heart may not be perfect but it does deliver an enjoyable FPS experience with a plot that will take you on a rollercoaster ride.
