    The combat is okay. The rest of the game is horrid. This game competes with gollum for worst game of the year.

    Really glad I got this one day one, but then I really like euro-jank. That said, this is a hard one to classify as euro-jank. It’s got surprisingly fluid and fun controls, and doesn’t feel blocky or stiff, like lots of other games from the publisher can feel.

    It’s a cool world to be in and I love the detail and care in so much of the populated areas. Though small it all feels deliberate. I say give it a chance I’d you like single player RPGs, there’s a lot to be enjoyed here. It does deserve a more epic score, I’ll say that.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Playing this game on performance mode on the xbox series x is a huge surprise how good the game looks. The only thing I can think of is that is made using the unreal engine 5. It looks better then games in the unreal engine 4 running at 4k. Also its been so long since we have had a real good third person action rpg. It's far from perfect. But it is even further from being a bad game. I personally think releasing this game this close to Starfield was a wrong decision. I will say the game feels finished and not a mess that needs consistent updates. I've not run into 1 bug after 40hrs gameplay. That there shows the power of the unreal engine 5. I can't wait to see what games will be like when a large team dose a large game. Ignore some of the corny writing and tbe spirit in your glove and you will feel powerful… Expand

    Finished it on hard as recommended by the developers and really disappointed.

    You basically fight against a handful of minibosses over and over again throughout the whole game, all coming with excessive mob support to make the fights as chaotic and stressful as possible.     Game is a great change of pace its challenging and after 7 hours in i can say it has a good story developing. Starts off a little slow but picks up steam pretty quick.

    We have here a game with potential, but that was lost a lot in its proposal. The action part fulfills its mission well, but it should have been better used by the developers. The empty world of Atlas leaves something to be desired, although it presents beautiful visuals in many moments – but that is not enough to sustain a game.     The positive point is the unbridled action at various times and the possibility of playing in cooperative mode from the beginning. The soundtrack is sub-par, having no epic or rousing moments. Even in the big battles against giant bosses, the trails are just ordinary. I believe in the potential of Atlas Fallen, but the studio really needs to correct certain mechanics and improve some parts of it so that a possible continuation comes out well rounded.    … Expand

    Graphically it is attractive, the story is quite weak and in the end it becomes very repetitive. It's not a bad game but it has good aspects that make it entertaining, such as exploration and moving freely as if you were a superman without a cape.

    The more time I spent with Atlas Fallen, the more its cracks became harder to ignore. Its combat system is sorely lacking, the story is entirely uninteresting and poorly told, and the whole experience has an unpolished quality to it. Perhaps Deck13 ought to give the soulslike thing another go.

    Atlas Fallen does not invent the wheel, but it has a good level in almost all its sections, and bets on a charismatic fictional universe (with potential for a sequel). If you like hack and slash, action-RPGs or the rarities of the PS3 and Xbox 360 generation, here is one of the surprises of the year.

    Atlas Fallen does some things right as a new franchise, the world that the team has made is interesting and begs to be explored, the story is for the most part extremely well told and as I said graphically the game looks great. But the unevenness of the combat just makes avoiding fights more common than facing enemies head on. Which is truly a shame because as I said above, I love action games and had high hopes that Atlas Fallen would stick the landing. I am hoping this is something that can be fixed with a patch, because I did enjoy skating around the sands and exploring the massive levels.
