Assassin's Creed games is basically closest we will ever get to actual time travel. Visiting these old cities and locations is just amazing. Of course it's still fiction, but so is Red Dead Redemption and that's fine. Still close enough.

Makes me wonder why they even did Odyssey like they did. It clearly didn't work. I'm not saying it was bad game, it had some good stuff too, but overall Valhalla stands out as superior in basically ever way. AC is finally back!

Out of Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla -Valhalla is easily best one. Bringing back old elements, deleting ones that were never needed. Very enjoyable AC game.

AC: Valhalla doesn't exactly re-invent the formula, but i think for now it's a good thing.
They fixed what went wrong with Odyssey and brought back missing elements while making story, characters and world better. With next one they need to do some complete overhaul, but Valhalla is good beginning for next era Assassin's Creed games.

Ubisoft really did well with this one, been at least 3 years when i actually enjoyed their games. Odyssey was fine, but boring really fast. Valhalla feels like breath of fresh air.

    TL;DR spoiler-free Review.

Graphics - When I first booted it up it looked just as good as the last few ultra quality PC games I’ve played. Beginning - The story is good, the combat is great, Raiding is adrenaline filled. Middle - Fun, but at about 50hrs in for halfway, it’s clear there is quite a large amount of side content, and it does get repetitive. End - Whilst intriguing

    End -
Whilst intriguing at first, the lore all gets spun around everywhere(inc modern day stuff), then it just ends. Either they took stuff out to put into the DLC or they had to rush the ending to release in time.

If someone actually thinks that AC Valhalla is not well made, that just shows absolute ignorance and lack of general knowledge about game making. People shouldn't even start some nonsense like "it's not well made", when they literally have no idea what they are talking about. I'm so glad it got nominated for "Best Action / Adventure Game" at "The Game Awards". That alone shows that people who are part of gaming at least understand and acknowledge that it is well made video game!
It doesn't have to win and very likely wont, that's not the point. What matters is fact that it got nominated.

Didn't finish Origins and didn't get Odyssey because I hated the assassinations and combat leveling. I like the old ones. This has the perfect balance and I loved it! The story both in and out kept you on your toes and the mysteries in every area were varied and interesting. If you're on the fence dont be!

Finished the whole game. 60-70 hours total played. I've played every AC since 2009 right when they come out and some age better than others. I think this will age well. Some thoughts:

-They've toned down the RPG elements just enough to make the game fun again and not a slog to get through.
-Narrative is strong when looked at in terms of each story arc. But some arcs are definitely better than others and a *bit* more editing could have made it a much tighter game. Or just making a few of the more minor arcs optional. I still would have played through them but the pacing of the main story (which is freaking amazing for the first 25-30 hours of the game), suffers through the latter half. Characters seems to be self-aware of this too: "It took you a long time" - I know, Sigurd! Plus, without completing a few of the missions that they *do* make optional, the ending makes no sense.
-The meta-story elements (modern day, Assassins & Templars lore) are *chef's kiss*. Could have integrated them a bit more into the main story but after Odyssey, who's complaining?
-Ubisoft needs to bury Anvil Next in a hole in the ground. The dev team did a seriously impressive job building the game that they did in this engine but fluidity of combat and traversal suffer for it.

Setting: 9/10 - diverse world, interesting historical characters, mythology integrated in a sensible way
Soundtrack: 10/10 - they should have used that epilogue song more
Parkour/Navigation: 3/10 - Accessible, but not deep in any way
Combat: 6.5/10 - Bit rough in the early going, but it gets better and better as you go along and you can't argue how fun stun finishers are. The engine being too inconsistent and sluggish hold it back.
Story: 8/10 - Voice acting is good. Pacing becomes an issue later on. Villains are good. Eivor is just okay. Mostly is just reactive to what the characters around him/her do and is not driving the plot very much.
Performance: 9/10 I played on a VRR screen, so I didn't have the horrible dropped frames/screen tearing in cutscenes issue that I've seen on some gameplay footage. Impressively well polished for a game this large, this close to release. It has bugs for sure, but none of them were game-breaking.

One of my favorite AC games in years. Not perfect by any means, but very very good. A step in the right direction for future games to improve on. Props to the dev team.

Once you have finished the first main story arc in England you have basically done every thing the game has to offer. Your enjoyment of the game depends on how much you enjoy the events in the first 7 hours of the game.

Its just hilarious to read these hate comments. Most real "Assassin's Creed" fans seem to like this game a lot. I bet 90% of these who gave 0 or 1, never even played it. It's just too obvious. Literally created this account to show my support to this great game. Been fan over 7 years.

Maybe little bit early to review it, because i haven't finished main story, but i like it a lot.
I hardly had any interest in missions in Odyssey, but Valhalla is different. Might be one of the best games i have played this year, alongside Doom Eternal.

Combat (to me) feels okay, i have read some youtube comments that "combat is so bad", i strongly disagree. I bet they watched some youtube who told that he didn't like combat and now some people just spread false information. It's not perfect, but far from bad. Would recommend.

This is good, i mean it. But Far Cry 6 needs to be something completely new, they can't make another Far Cry 5, NO, because we already have that game. It has to stand out, it has to be different, if it isn't, delay it already! And next wave of Ubisoft games needs to have complete re-invention in 2022-2023. Stuff like Prince of Persia remake with weak animations needs to be gone, forever. None of that anymore. Valhalla is first good step into the future of Ubisoft, it's really well done game, but now things need to go even further. Really DEEPLY focus on writing, Valhalla is good, go even more deep! Invest more into your products, you have good directors, give them all the freedom the need! I know you can make good stuff, you have done it past, you can do it again, i really believe it.
I believe in you Ubisoft, because i have really liked some of your games (AC 4 Black Flag, AC Unity (after patches obviously), Far Cry 3 and even some Ghost Recon Games, even Watch Dogs 1 was good, even tho it wasn't perfect. I would hate to see you go down like this. What you did in 2019 is unforgivable, but every company messes up at times, In fact all your games have better writing than Fallout 4 or Fallout 76, not that it's good comparison, but just saying. But you need to take Rockstar as your inspiration and i feel, in a way you already do. That's good! Just focus on quality, fix more bugs before release and just do good games. That's all it takes. I'm so far loving Valhalla and i have high hopes for Far Cry 6 and future of Ubisoft, Please don't let me and all your fans down!

It is highly satisfying completing a story arc or traversing the world and finding things that you felt that other players might not have stumbled across due to the nature of the open world and its use of way finders. The lack of load times on Xbox Series S is truly impressive given the nature of environments, landscape, and elements that are present on screen. There were a few issues from characters floating in mid-air, bizarre enemy AI, and straight up freezes, although these were far and few between given the scope of it all. Intuitive and varied combat help keep things fresh, even if it does take a fair few hours of gameplay to really get going. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a thoroughly enjoyable, open-world RPG that is an absolute must for Xbox owners.

In many aspects Valhalla resembles most of Ubisoft’s games, but fortunately progression feels a lot more natural this time around. The game’s not perfect but I had lots of fun conquering new territories, plundering churches, and pillaging coastal villages while following a mature story and enjoying gorgeous, believable medieval Britain.
