How in the world does this have an eight at the time of writing this, the battle mechanics are garbage the special abilities are basically on usable in combat and as long as you mash RB over and over again you’ll win every fight. Odyssey was the best assassin‘s creed since Black flag this feels like about 10 steps backwards.

Simply insane. This is the assassin's creed I've been wanting for, it has a good story, bloody, and extremely fun.

I mean what can I say about this game besides Assassins Creed Bughalla. I even looked past most of the garbage side quest bugs, the phanton crashes, the teleportation into the middle of the map for no reason because I enjoyed the game play and the story. Well that all changed when the Alliance map broke for some players in the game. If you complete a pledge and don't immediately go back to talk to Randvi that area will always show on the map as incomplete. Apparently the devs have known about this for weeks but have done absolute nothing to fix it. I had roughly 80 hours in the game and the suggestion of going back to a save before that is insane. Yes let me crap 30 hours down the drain because you are too lazy to fix this. However what do you know they keep updating the Valhalla store so you can spend more money to make look cool in a game you can't freaking complete.

Great job of dumping all of your customer base with this release. Should have learned from CDPR and at least released a game without game breaking glitches, and a support team that doesn't give a **** enough to respond with real answers.

The combat is insanely brutal and engaging, the world is massive and the story is breathtaking. Stunning looking game on the Series X but alas a game mired by extensive graphical and game breaking bugs. A perfect score is not far off if it could only have been bug and glitch free. The characters, the voice acting, the music, the gameplay loop, it's all far far above previous Assassin's Creed's, just a little tweaking on the length of the game and the pacing and it would be 10/10. 140 hours later and it is an experience I will never forget. Take your time to get truly lost in this masterfully crafted world. Check out my full thoughts here: https://youtu.be/afjp2seh1wk Expand

Of course tons of youtuber will pretend that Cyberpunk is greatest game ever, because truth hurts and they don't wanna be honest. And yes PC version is "okay", but PS4 and Xbox One versions (versions that will sell the most)? These look awful and are extremely buggy. Even PC version is buggy. Gonna wait until 2022 to play it. Until then i can enjoy Valhalla. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I started this game I was absolutely blown away by how pretty it looked, the first scene had me invested in the story and the characters. It wasn't long before I was spending hours exploring the mountains, finding all the mysteries, artifacts and treasures and having a total blast doing so. The leveling up system was good and it was simple enough to get myself to the levels needed to continue with the higher level missions once I reached England, which was also completely breathtaking. I really enjoyed the storyline, particularly the asgard plot. The final section with sigurd was brilliant. All in all this game was amazing. I had a lot of fun with it. The only complaint I have is there were a few small issues towards the end, a fe bugs that tainted my experience. Meaning towards the end I was getting to the point where I just wanted it to be over and done with so that I could spend the rest of my time finding the rest of the mysteries. Also the end of the story isn't particularly clear so I was confused that a few little things weren't tied up. However I would still highly recommend it and will no doubt play through it again! A genuinely decent story with some interesting setting ideas sadly hindered by its unfocused pseudo rpg format and just an overall feeling of too much content bloated by its over sized world map (with a noticeable lack of unique locations). Very repetitive gameplay.... Playing this on my series x was a disappointment for the visuals as they didn't look as good as origins in my opinion. Less detailed particle effects and textures and some blurry looking visuals in the performance mode (until it got patched for nice crispy 4k). Definitely didn't feel like a next gen looking experience.

For a game so focused on hand to hand and melee weapon combat, this feels quite dull to play..... The basic ai and smaller crowd sizes are disappointing. They should just drop the assassin's creed title from these games now as it just feels like a Moniker.

At the end of this game I felt as if my time had been wasted. It took me 70+hrs to complete and 'hoover up' the main quests from my nap but I sincerely hope for more focused ac titles in future a la ac unity please!!!!! Also much rather have a single character in the game not 'customizable' make / female choice - it just feels unfocused and a waste of developer resources.

The combat feels much better than Odyssey although it does take some time to really see the depth in it. Most of all the superfluous loot from Odyssey is replaced, the gear and weapons you find in Valhalla are much more quality over quantity. Finally, the game looks absolutely gorgeous on Xbox Series X. Despite the slight frame tearing here and there, its price I'm happy to pay to play in glorious 4K 60 FPS. Exploring medieval England is a pure delight. Expand

I wasn’t sure if I liked Valhalla at first. It seemed kind of slow in the beginning. Some of the quests weren’t too exciting. But after I got about ½ way through it- it became more fun and interesting. I played the all the main quests, Asgard and Jotenheim. I only played one mystery and one world event. I raided all the main raids but still wasn’t able to fully boost my settlement. So you have to seek out more regular chests in the world than I did. I wish I knew to save many of my materials until later in the game- especially to boost health, upgrade weapons, and upgrade my arrow quiver. I didn’t like the present day stuff- wish they’d just abandon that altogether. But it wasn’t that much of the game. The most difficult boss for me was Goodwin. It took me quite a while to finally beat him. He was harder than Basim or Fenrir. I did not seek out the Sisters- so I can’t speak to them. Overall I ended up feeling quite happy with the game. I’m glad I spent the time with the game that I did. Granted, I loved the first AC games much more. But this is a great game by itself. I’m hoping the DLC expansions will be just as good. Overall I recommend it if this is your genre of games! I'd say it's one of the best of 2020 after Ghost of Tsushima- and waiting on Cyberpunk! Expand

From modern ones easy top 4 - Black Flag, Valhalla, Unity, Origins. Good stuff. But i would like to mention Syndicate because it's so underrated, it's not best, but it's still fun enough and has some really nice graphics at times.

It is highly satisfying completing a story arc or traversing the world and finding things that you felt that other players might not have stumbled across due to the nature of the open world and its use of way finders. The lack of load times on Xbox Series S is truly impressive given the nature of environments, landscape, and elements that are present on screen. There were a few issues from characters floating in mid-air, bizarre enemy AI, and straight up freezes, although these were far and few between given the scope of it all. Intuitive and varied combat help keep things fresh, even if it does take a fair few hours of gameplay to really get going. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a thoroughly enjoyable, open-world RPG that is an absolute must for Xbox owners.

In many aspects Valhalla resembles most of Ubisoft’s games, but fortunately progression feels a lot more natural this time around. The game’s not perfect but I had lots of fun conquering new territories, plundering churches, and pillaging coastal villages while following a mature story and enjoying gorgeous, believable medieval Britain.
