WWE 2K20 has good ideas as a whole and can amuse the most ardent fans of the saga, but its technical problems and its control do not finish working as previous releases.

WWE 2K20 is a game that still needs a lot of work, both in the graphics and gameplay/AI/physics areas, to be on par with the previous titles in the series. However the awesome roster, big Universe mode and some improved controls keep it from being a complete disappointment.

Even with all the game bugs in WWE 2K20, there is still a decent wrestling game underneath.

A sorry mess at the time of launch, but worth persisting with if you’re a series fan. [Issue#184, p.73]

Despite what you might have seen or read on social media, WWE 2K20 isn’t unplayable or broken. Or at least not in my experience. But it also doesn’t push the series forward in any way, nor is it polished. MyCareer mode has an entertaining story to tell, but it’s not worth the price of the game alone, and other modes don’t really offer anything groundbreaking or truly new. So overall, while WWE 2K20 isn’t terrible, there’s no reason to pick it up if you already have WWE 2K19 in your games library.

I love the game that is bubbling under all the excess garbage. This year’s MyPlayer is pretty much what I would have liked to see before in the series, even though I had to play it with Plan B characters as photo uploading in-game didn’t initially work. Despite its crappy presentation, MyCareer is also endearing and inspiring. If you, like me, advocate equality in all things, WWE 2K20 is worth your attention if the entertainment it features is your thing – and only when it’s fixed to the state when all the playtime won’t be spent on bewildering bugs and glitches. A tip to 2K and Visual Concepts; don’t even bother with the next year’s iteration until this one is fully patched.

With its revamped controls and tighter focus on growing your custom wrestlers in MyCareer, WWE 2K20 has a lot of good ideas propping it up. Unfortunately, the game is propped up on top of an uncharacteristically weak foundation. WWE 2K20 is an ugly video game, with gross-looking noodle hair, weird character faces, and PS2-looking NPCs. Add to that a lengthy MyCareer story fueled by corny and sloppy writing, and you get a game only the dedicated parts of the fanbase will love. At its core, there is still a great deal of fun in playing WWE2K20, but the technical issues, poor visuals, and bad writing make this year an easy one to skip, especially if you’re still playing through WWE 2K19.

WWE 2k20 is loaded with features and still comes up short in so many areas. First, let's look at the Fun! Create a Wrestler is an incredible mode, as always, and features so many options it would take hours to check them all out, giving players the ability to create almost anything the can imagine in a wrestler. The roster of combatants span over countless years of Profesional Wrestling history, bringing legends of the WCW and WWF back to the ring as playable characters. The Career mode makes you create both a Male and Female Wrestler, then places them in a 20-Hour story that is just as over-the-top as they can make it. I spent Hours laughing as my wrestlers' larger than life stories unfolded before me. Red and Trey (The nicknames your characters acquired in Highschool) have a hilarious background, and the story is set up as a collection of Flashbacks to their path to glory. Now, for the rest. The game itself feels a bit weak beside its predecessor, as targeting is haphazard at best. Your strikes don't always land as you'd expect them to, and it seems like countering is easiest done by anticipating the timing rather than relying on the in-game prompts. The graphics are obviously better over some of the scenes than others leaving you to wonder in the ring, where they went. Overall I found WWE 2k20 a fun experience, even with the oddities present in the game. If you're a fan of Wrestling old school or current, WWE 2k20 is loaded with references, and Cameos spanning over most of Wrestling history! Full Review »

This title does not even deserve a rating it is so bad.

Where to start.. The graphics look like they are from 2001 not 2019, they have removed so many of the vertices's from the models that you can see the "squareness" of the faces, etc.

Phasing happens often, characters disappear for frames in a sequence and than "reappear", this is not just happening to me as I saw many feeds on twitch stating the same thing.

When you select a move.. more than 9 times out of ten the character will look for 2 -3 seconds as a marionette on a string moving around to get into a position that was rigged.

Though the modes are good and some of the pre-show stuff is nice.. that in NO WAY makes up for the crap that they put in the box for this version. PASS.. PASS.. PASS on this title. If there is a way to get your money back do so!

(truthfully, I think a 10 year old with Amazon Lumberyard could have done a better job).

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. Where do I even begin on this "game?" The graphics slug way behind, even compared to the first game in the next-gen line up. It honestly looks like the models are only rough drafts and no time or polish went into them. The lack of day one patch is upsetting and unnerving. The game is glitchy and crashes F R E Q U E N T L Y . The control scheme change this year was completely unnecessary. Years of muscle memory have robbed me of joy because I have to learn this whole new system. Story mode is completely unplayable to me, as I can't even keep a connection to the servers (can still play 2K19 no problem,) and the game resets on me, losing many valuable hours due to it. They offer a preorder bonus that's not even available at launch, and you expect people to follow you on twitter to find out when we can access the locked menu option. I honestly feel like this game is not even worth a full retail price let alone the $130.00 I spent on the Digital "DeLuXe" version.

    Buyers, please beware.
