This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is definitely the best looking wrestling game I've ever played. For next gen, I was expecting a bit more in the visuals department to be honest, though I prefer gameplay over graphics, so I didn't let this bug me too much! Now for gameplay, the games balancing system is impressive. It needs some minor improvement yes, but it's a great start and makes for a fun and pretty realistic fight overall.

The pinning is absolutely horrible! In my opinion, games should be easy enough for everyone to learn and play in a short period of time (not master, but at least pick up and enjoy). If I invited friends over, it would take them weeks to master kicking out. You have to time it perfectly, and if you think about it, you really only have about 3 shots to do it right. I'm sure there is a handful of gamers who have learned and dealt with this, but I bet the majority find it too difficult to the point where it's not fun. I love a good challenge, but this is too much!

I've read many people say that MyCareer mode was the best feature of this game, so I was excited to try it out. Sadly, it's nothing special. I've had about 20 + matches, and only got two cut scenes. One short clip of my guy signing a contract, and 10 sec clip of him getting pumped in the hall before a match. Other than that, nothing else. No talking to other wrestlers, no feuds, no interruptions, no backstage scenes, no rants in front of the crowd, nothing. I'm not done this mode, so there may be more, but man it's really slow and boring so far and I'm sure there's nothing great ahead if so far I got this.

The showcase mode was a lot of fun, despite the two feuds being not the most interesting of choices. The voices were great, there was interruptions, and drama, just like the show, but that's the thing, you are re-living (re-playing) events that already happened. So not over the top of shocking. This is why I was so disappointed about MyCareer mode. I was hoping to see and experience some insane and unique things.

Another thing that bugged me was that all my progress disappeared. My two completed showcases, my created wrestler, all the new wrestlers I earned, everything!

I'm about 5-7 hours in total gameplay and I'm about ready to tap out. ;) This is a game where you need to have friends over to play to prolong the fun factor of the game. Because MyCareer mode and the small list of match types won't keep me interested for much longer.

Few other things that bugged me was the ref is always in the way! Sometimes hard to see the Reverse symbol cause the guy is walking left and right so much! lol The stamina meter in the balancing system needs some work. Wrestlers don't get tired THAT fast! Especially the little guys. hehe Some of the wrestlers need work as they don't look good. A few to list would be the Rock, Batista, Stone Cold.

I haven't been successful finding a match online, just doesn't work for me.

Overall, great looking game! Not very fun though unless you have your buddies over.
I don't recommend paying full price for this game. I suggest waiting till the price drops, or buy it used.
Or play WWE 2K14, SVR or Revenge until something else comes out.

Like a jobber going against John Cena, this game just can't get the job done. Bugs and glitches, the same horrible gameplay from years past, unrealistic selling of moves, and horrible mini games rule the roost in this series. Without the great Wrestlemania mode or legends of WWE 2k14, this game is down for the count and should be future endeavored. Please 2K, get rid of Yukes as the developer.

Overall, the title just isn't quite up to par. It promises a lot but delivers comparatively little. It might be worth waiting until 2K16 before taking the plunge with WWE on current gen.

    Mode Solo:

Somehow the current gen version has managed to go one step forward and not only remove that but also custom arenas, belts, and female CAWs. But at least the last-gen versions have matches in them. Since I do not care at all for most of the create options of this series (CAW, CAA, CAF, CAE, CAS) all those cuts, others are so angry about, do not really matter to me.
What I miss sometimes are the different variations when it comes to tag-team matches and the possibility of giving a different entrance to a superstar that does not actually belong to an other.

I really like the new chain wrestling system at the start of a match and I also prefer the slower pace of the matches in general.

The graphics really look good, the scanned superstars sometimes look so real. However the still need to work on the fans which still do not really look like current gen and take away from the overall great looks of the game.
All the new animations are also welcome. I like it, when after a long match, the winner leans over the ropes to show, it took almost all of his power to defeat his opponent.

Finally they concentrated on the here and now when it comes to the roster. Even though I started watching the WWE (F) in the early 90´s, I prefer a present day product. So I do not care for legends, I do not care for guys who ended their careers or got fired. So instead of Del Rio, Santino, Michaels, Austin I would rather have Los Matadores, Heath Slater and Sin Cara. But overall I am ok with the roster.

Showcase (to me) is a nice bonus (since I almost only play my own stories in exhibition mode) which gives me the opportunity to play through various feuds of the past.

So I have a lot of fun with "my personal present day roster sandbox" and since the cuts do not matter to me I can honestly rate it a "9/10".

For future releases of the series I would just like to be given back the cut out match types and some new generic entrances for heels and faces.

Graphics are amazing! The most important new feature, along with the new control system of the wrestler, is found in the My Career mode. I have been waiting for this feature for years. The controls have been completely redesigned to provide better gameplay and the graphic quality is aligned with what was expected on average. A CLEAR winner for 2K and WWE!

Great! They should stop trying to "recreate the WWE experience" and just make a fun wrestling game. Every great game needs a good character creator, and this one is better that it has been, but the organization is just silly. Go in to one menu to create a new character, then go in to a completely different set of menus to create a moveset, then assign it to that character, yuck! Also, OCD I realize, but i you want to create a modern appearance for a wreslter, you have to clone it and take up an edit slot, so now you have the same wrestler in two spots. Want to have a title match, but use that John Cena you made in nWo gear? You can't because the belt is on the OTHER John Cena in your character menu. Same for "retro" versions of a character, why have them in separate character slots? Just put all the versions under one character, and let me pick the look after I've selected that character. I haven't been able to stop playing FirePro over the years because its fun to play, and only take a couple minutes to set up and finish a match, WWE 2k15 isn't really... fun... Expand

The facial scans vary from very well done to hideously inaccurate, and the new animations, while much smoother than previous iterations, are so slow and badly implemented that it feels less like you're performing the moves and more like you're triggering tiny cutscenes in the middle of the ring. Unfortunately, the MyCareer mode seems like a pile of unused potential. Its a great idea for a wrestling game, but there isn't much to it. Its severely lacking in content and mostly feels like a pointless series of matches in which you earn virtual currency to upgrade your character so that you can be more effective in future matches.

I really wanted to like this game, but the game itself (or perhaps the developers) doesn't really seem to give a **** about whether its enjoyable or not. The features are few and far between, the gameplay is plodding and dull and the traditionally massive creation options have been replaced by a sorry imitation. Sadly, I can't recommend this to anyone.... unless, of course, you like things that aren't fun. In which case, WWE 2K15 is the game for you!

The only saving grace for this game is that it is fun- when you finally get it to work. In a baffling design choice to remove knockouts completely (unless you perform certain OMG moments) I was incredibly disappointed.

What is good about the game though? Well My Career mode is a lot of fun and kept me coming back for over 10 hours- though it doesn't matter if the WHOLE F*CKING THING IS DELETED FOR NO REASON!!!! The character creator (though there is no create a diva mode) is well fleshed out and extensive (though previous games have had more content)- again though if your copy decides to delete itself it really doesn't matter how many customizable features you include. Finally the gameplay is pretty good- only once you get used to the controls- until then you will be hurling your controller across the room as reversals fail and when the game refuses to do simple things (throwing your opponent off of the hell in the cell springs to mind).

In summary this game is a colossal waste of money- if you decide to buy it do it when the next wwe game comes out as it'll be much cheaper than the £40 I wasted. This game however, is ideal for rental if you manage to find it.
