    Whilst Dirt Rally is aimed at the drivers, WRC 6 is definitely for the fans. The game wants to bring the thrill, the sensation and the enjoyment of rallying to all of the fans of the sport regardless of their driving ability. It wants all players to be able to compete in this season's events and to feel a part of the motorsport, and WRC 6 has achieved this surprisingly well.

    I will say though when the dust settles, WRC 6 strives hard to dethrone another Rally game, and even though the effort is valiant, the issues that exist, especially pertaining to the gameplay, prevent it from overtaking it. However, if we see another improvement leap like what we have seen between WRC 5 and 6, I think we can start to see Kylotonn start knocking on the door of such companies such as Turn 10. If you're looking for a solid Rally racing experience, you can't do much better than WRC 6.

    It might not hold a candle to Dirt Rally in its car selection or look and feel, but it’s not bad for developer Kylotonn’s sophomore effort on the series. If Milestone’s stint turned you off, as it did me, now could be a good time to get reacquainted.

    WRC 6 is a great step forward for the franchise and can be good fun at times, though the faults it contains mean that it doesn’t really put in a serious challenge to DIRT Rally for the console rallying crown. Nonetheless, there's enough enjoyment on offer to make it a decent alternative for those who are looking for something a bit less hardcore.

    WRC 6 is basically the same game it was in the previous iteration, which means its developers still haven’t decided whether they’re making a simulator or an arcade title (the driving model is decent though) and the visuals are far from spectacular. Additionally the game makes an awful first impression with its terrible tutorial. [13/2016, p.74]

    With the current generation and the likes of Forza Horizon 3, F1 2016 and DiRT Rally, WRC 6 sadly falls behind by failing to innovate.

    Turning its back on the options that made WRC 5 accessible to casual players and hardened rally fans alike means WRC 6 simply won't appeal to many people. It's a title resolutely aimed at the hardcore racer, with a stupid penalty system, twitchy handling and as steep a difficulty curve as you can get in a racing game. It's especially galling, as you can see some clear improvements here. I've played plenty of sim racers in the past and enjoyed myself, but playing WRC 6 feels like a thankless chore. Die-hard rallysport fans/masochists need only apply.

    3. The hard shadows have that typical no-aliasing flickering effect.
    2b/3b Point 2 and 3 go hand in hand to severely plague the racing experience because it's fatiguing to watch.

    Thirty fps on a modern gaming console. The game was released in 2016, not 1990. Other racing games like Dirt 4 run like a dream on the Xbox One.

    To anyone still wondering why this is important: of all gaming genres, the racing genre is the most unforgiving when it comes to frame drops and low frame rates in general. Racing games are also considered "light load" on gaming hardware, so there's no excuse to program it to perform at 60 fps and maybe dropping some graphical detail as a trade-off if need be. Gamers shouldn't accept this garbage and the devs ought to be ashamed of themselves. Shame on you.    … Full Review »

    Décidément, les WRC se suivent mais ne se ressemblent pas toujours... le Français Kylotonn a repris le flambeau de la licence officielle àDécidément, les WRC se suivent mais ne se ressemblent pas toujours... le Français Kylotonn a repris le flambeau de la licence officielle à l'Italien Milestone depuis WRC 5 et cet opus s'était avéré convaincant malgré des failles techniques évidentes, grâce principalement à sa bonne simulation de la conduite en rallye.

    Ici, c'est toujours le cas ma foi avec un comportement qui restitue avec assez de précision les transferts de masse et l'inertie générale des bolides ; l'adhérence et ses variations sont également bien rendues et renvoient d'ailleurs le Dirt Rally de Codemasters dans son petit coin de jeu d'arcade prétentieux. L'ambiance sonore reste quant à elle toujours aussi satisfaisante, ce qui ne mange pas de pain.

    Techniquement, c'est une autre chanson et on est ici (comme dans WRC 5) à mille lieues du jeu du développeur anglais : WRC 6 demeure assez moche pour en pas dire souvent moche et n'a pas progressé d'un iota depuis WRC 5. Pire, il ne parvient toujours pas à maintenir un taux de 30 im/s correctement... (quand on pense que Dirt truc aligne ses 60 im/s sans sourciller !).

    Même sur la X, on sent que le jeu perd ici et là quelques images selon les spéciales et les environnements... qu'est-ce que ça doit être sur la Xbox normale ! on préfère ne pas y penser...

    La carrière est devenue un long chemin de croix, un long chemin de farmage épouvantable qui n'en finit pas avec nombre de spéciales qui me semblent encore plus longues et casse-burnes qu'auparavant. La difficulté a été revue à la hausse (on se demande bien pourquoi ?) et il faudra piloter comme un surhomme ou un astronaute pour espérer décrocher quelques podiums...

    Alors franchement, on se demande bien pourquoi on se casse le cul si c'est pour finir dernier à un rallye sur deux ou se taper des pénalités de 10 à 15 secondes dès qu'on sort de la putain de route ! vraiment, je ne sais pas ce qui s'est passé chez cette bande de cons mais ils ont fait de la merde.

    Aux tares techniques s'ajoutent donc des choix de game design aussi hasardeux que foireux... quel dommage, car le pilotage est resté plaisant et quel gâchis, je ne sais pas ce qui leur a pris !    … Full Review »
