I was a very big fan of the first Wolfenstein game and I think they did a pretty decent job with it. I did however feel it was lacking in certain areas and it wasn’t always compelling. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus however has took what was good from the first game and made it even better and the best thing is that it was compelling throughout and it didn’t really lack in any areas. The story in the game is stunning and in my opinion it’s one of the best story’s I’ve ever encountered in a game. The characters make the story even better and you can tell that a lot of thought has gone into them and the best thing is that no character in the game feels underdeveloped. When it comes to the gameplay a lot of the mechanics shine through very brightly, and most of them have been done to perfection. I was especially impressed with the gun mechanics in the game and they have managed to make them feel great whilst also making them fun at the same time. The same can also be said about the combat in the game. The combat in the game has a really vicious side to it and this vicious side is both fun and very very satisfying, which is awesome. The presentation side of the game has been done to perfection. Visually the game can look stunning at times and they’ve done a fantastic job of capturing a realistic feel in the locations they’ve used. The accompanying sound design has also been done very well and each different component gives the game even more immersion. At the end of the day I must admit that I didn’t think Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus would be this good. They have impressed me on all levels and without a doubt this is the best shooter so far this year, in fact it’s one of the best shooters I’ve ever played. Everything in the game just seems to click and you can tell that extra effort has been placed in a number of areas, and this extra effort makes the game a candidate for game of the year. I can not recommend this game enough and for fans of shooters this game is a must buy. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I buy only a few games each year because of financial constraints, and this was one of my three purchases of 2017. As such, you can understand that I was EXTREMELY excited for this game, but it was quite the let down at the end of the day. I'd give it a 3/10 overall, as the game play was a solid 7/10 (not quite as good as the last one, It really seems they went backwards) and the story was a 3/10, as it was ridiculously hamfisted in creating a world that had such potential.
The gameplay was fine for the most part, however it was inferior to the first game in its encounters, and also had far too many long cut-scenes . As somebody who typically loves cut-scenes, I found them entirely game breaking in Wolf 2. the ratio of actual gameplay to cut-scenes would seem to be about 3:1, and the gameplay side of that may be exaggerated by the fact that I'm a completionist and was intent on finding every single object. The game is also remarkably short, only being slightly lengthened by assassination missions that take place on maps you've already played through.

    Now Entering Spoiler Territory:
The plot begins in the most preachy manor possible: Your father is the worst human being possible. I mean truly the worst. We're talking Disney levels of puppy kicking evil here. Hitler, who appears in the game, is a useless, insane, old coot, yet still not portrayed as being as purely evil as Blazco, Sr. Blazco is Jewish (which may have been established in earlier games, but to my knowledge was a new addition to the plot line), the leader of the US resistance becomes the commander of Blazco's contingent for no real reason, Jews are smart (but black people are smarter), being crippled is hard, masculinity is fragile, white people are cowards and follow the Nazis, black people fight the good fight, pregnant women are just as capable of operating in a war zone, etc.
I tried very hard to remove any political leanings I had from the view of this game, yet every few minutes I was confronted with some bit of social commentary. I was raised on WW2 shooters, so killing Nazis comes as easily to me as walking, but the game kept breaking my immersion by trying to draw parallels between the Nazi occupied US of the game and the US as it stands today. A line of dialogue that occurs early on in the game is "How can they promote violence toward us, just because we hold a different point of view?". I don't need my games, especially something like Wolfenstein, to get political. When I play Wolfenstein, I want to slaughter Nazis, hear a couple of witty jokes, and traverse my way through interesting and a number of vast and creative level designs. Get the damn politics out of my Nazi (and Klansman) killing simulator! And write a goddamn competent story!!!

After paying 60$ for this masterpiece (stress on the "piece") I feel violated. The move to appeal to casual gamers and political activists is apparent. Also there is this weird "Vault" thing that appears to be a DLC extravaganza in the making.... I cannot make it through the cringe to finish this one

It lacks what makes a sequel great: innovation. It doesn't add anything other than what we've already seen in its predecessor.

It's not a bad game, not at all, but it is significantly inferior to the first one. The overall feeling I was left with when finishing this game was that one of a missed opportunity.

Should you buy it? Maybe if you catch it on sale. Should you pay it full price? Probably not. Only if you've played the first one and are a follower of the series.

It would have been hard to top New Order, and this game doesn't, but it sure comes close. To those who down-checked this game because of the very obvious political aspects, I get where you’re coming from, but this is the world we now live in. It would be great of politics could stay out of most of our lives but those days are over. It sucks, but it is what it is, we’re going to have to learn to live within it because it’s not going to change. You can forgo Nike, Gillette, Kellogg’s, all you want. Good for you. Nobody is going to make you buy that stuff. You can also forgo Wolfenstein II if you want. Nobody made you buy this game when it very clearly had a political message in the trailers. What did you expect the message to be? The message at times does bother me too, immensely, but I can look past it and enjoy the game for what it is. And also absorb a point of view that at times I can disagree with, but also understand. Also, this is a game about viciously disemboweling Nazis, and to me the political aspect is a marketing gimmick first and a plot point second. I recommend you just enjoy a great game where you get to butcher Nazis. Or just don’t buy it, either way.

While there has been a lot of controversy surrounding this game (specifically around the marketing), as a game this is a very good - though flawed - entry into the 25 year old Wolfenstein FPS franchise.

To address some of the complaints - despite some reports, it is not terribly short. I put at least 12 hours into the main storyline, and *maybe* an hour of that consisted of cutscenes, and each one is a couple of minutes or less. We're not talking MGS4/JRPG length here.

Can you finish it in ~5 hours? If you play at the lowest difficulty level, race through the game, skip all cutscenes, and don't take any time to explore your home base. But most people don't play like that.

Yes, it leans into the racism theme pretty hard, though it's not entirely one sided. One main character is so over-the-top racist, it comes across as parody. I was waiting for him to start twirling his mustache at any minute. Though I'm pretty sure parody was not Machinegames' intent. There's a whole lot of "f*** whitey" sentiments expressed, but again, that seems like an intentional homage to the blaxploitation films of the early 70s. However, one of the main characters gets called on that attitude, effectively being told that bigotry is bigotry, no matter what direction its coming from.

So, there's a lot of tonally inconsistent moments in the game. Is it a drama? Is it a comedy? Is it a parody? Is it ridiculously over-the-top? At times, yes to all - but they don't do a particularly good job of reconciling these discrepancies into a cohesive whole.

Gameplay-wise, the first half of the game is very frustrating. For a series that is practically the definition of "power fantasy," during the first half of the game Blaskowitz is seriously nerfed. It makes getting through the levels a tedious slog, even at lower difficulty levels.

Now, you may be thinking "what's wrong with subverting expectations?" Well, nothing - if it's done well. It's just not done well in this instance. However, once you are back to full strength (following an incredibly over-the-top-ridiculous series of events) the game is far more fun. It's just a shame it takes several hours to get to that point.

There is also a poorly developed stealth mechanic that rears its head regularly throughout the game which slows your progress significantly. And you get knocked on your back far too often, at which point you can either shoot from the ground or get back to your feet. But again, not a particularly fun mechanic.

Once you're finished with the main plotline, there's several more hours worth of side missions to tackle, which are fun in their own right.

I paid $30 for it, and felt I got my money's worth. Overall, its a fun ride, as long as you can get past the various inconsistencies in the plot and gameplay. Just turn your brain off and remember that the game does get better as it goes along.

Great Narrative: Awesome. Great sound, and great gun play. One thing though, and it might be my lack of skill with FPS, but this game was f@#king HARD for me. I was on the difficulty that I would say would be considered as "Normal" and I was dying left and right and a lot of times I had no idea what killed me! Is this a bad thing? Of coarse not! In fact it is nice to have an FPS that is not your stereotypical mindless shooter. The cast of characters imo is what makes this game really shine though. Everyone has a very memorable presence, and not once was I ever saying to myself "who was that again?" Everybody is EXTREMELY well acted especially the Mad T.V. actress. I can't think of her real name to save my life but she voices Grace Walker. Grace is the leader of a resistance group in New York. I don't want to give too much away but if you are around my age and watched/remember Mad TV you will know exactly who I am talking about. My ONE gripe about my play through is a certain story arch, and again I don't want to give anything away because the part I'm referring to is a total WTF?! moment. Although I appreciate this particular part for what it is, it is still a bit of a stretch. Seriously though, buy this game. If not just for the previous sentence lol. I had a blast. I was hoping for better than Old Blood and more New Order and to see a New Order playback just affirmed the game's direction at the start.

Starting off with a broken B.J. Blazkowicz, the game starts a little grim but it soon gives the gleaming chances every gamer savours.

Graphics are beyond anything I have ever seen albeit going 4K and Xbox X at the same time, it's hard not to be blown away. The scene on the Sub where you chat to Grace Walker and it just goes full-on facial is amazing which is impacted further by the music.

This game really is something to behold. If I said any more, I'd be spoiler alerting the crap out of this post. I would much rather you tried it. Game On!

I haven't experienced a dumber game that didn't prominently involve Harvey Smith since Far Cry 2.
Terrible shooting mechanics (sloppy, slidey controls that feels like a resurrected PS3 Resistance game).
Laughably absurd dialogue between other characters and with himself (feels like something I would have written in junior high with a stoner kid from my algebra class). Serious, it's so cringe inducing I've had to occasionally skip the videos because it's so painful (said in over the top, grunty southern voice: "Please Caroline, give me yo wings so I can fly one mo time to the sun before the winter captures ma soul" WTF did I just say to myself?)
Boring, errand-centric tasks to hide that they've ran out of actual combat ideas...so they kill time by having you sprint around a sub acting a messenger.
One of the annoyingly preachiest games you'll ever play...with the subtlety of your drunk uncle at Thanksgiving and the intelligence of a standard cable news show.
If I had to guess...the original developers were just trying to make a fun experience on a low profile franchise that no one (including Betheseda) expected much from. The devs knocked it out of the park and then proved it wasn't a fluke with the follow-up. At that point, Bethesda realized this was a huge vehicle for them and imported a bunch of "talent" to improve the game and really create a meaningful story and experience. And it shows, it's indistinguishable now from any garbage you would watch from Hollywood. Only took three games for Wolfenstein to go from irrelevant to fantastic to awful...god awful. Congrats Bethesda...looking forward to your next step in converting this garbage into a VR experience to complete the crap cycle.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was a huge fan of the first Wolfenstein relaunch, I preferred Doom but I was still a fan of Wolfenstein. This game got everything that the first one did right absolutely wrong. The gameplay became ridiculously more difficult (as did Dishonored 2 so maybe it is just a trend with Bethesda?) and for the moments where you would actually have fun, you keep getting the killed left and right. I was able to play the first one on every difficulty and I replayed that one 5 times because I loved the story, the action, and the world. That game had a massive replay value, this one sadly I just finished the story before I returned it as I spent 60 bucks on it. Before I even talk about how bat-sh*t awful the story is, I must hit the things that bothered me from the get go. Graphics, alright at best, slightly better than the first one but the dog that young BJ has is probably the ugliest f*cking dog I have seen in a modern video game it looks like they took a pile of wet sand to shape the dog out of. Other than the ugly dog, graphics are just a-okay nothing too bad. Secondly, the parts where you are actually playing and killing seemed to be much shorter in comparison to the long cut scenes. Thirdly, THE VAULT, they made it seem like this massive thing was coming to the game and its just a spot to show you the different DLCs for the game, not any additional content to make the game longer than a couple hours and actually give me a reason to keep playing or even owning the came. Fourth off, it was a 24GB download just for me to play the game, I had the space but damn maybe if you're taking up all the space add something to the game to make it worthwhile.

    STORY SPOILERS

The story to this game just sucks, like the story usually isn't even important to a run and gun game but when you have these long cutscenes, it forces you to pay attention to just an awfully written story. Now I am not complaining about political stuff because you are killing Nazis, you would be completely stupid to believe there would be no political commentary, but I am talking about the actual story of the game. First point of bad story telling, BJ's backstory like my god was that awful I could really care about the back story of the murder machine who just run and guns a bunch of Nazis, why is his backstory even a thing? Doom did it right, no backstory and no character you're just a badass who kills everything in his path. But this whole evil dad who beats his Jewish wife and son and forces you to watch (or kill) your dog and then he ends up selling out BJ's mom and BJ to the Nazis like why does this need to be in the game it is so distracting and honestly just stupid. Everyone should already hate the Nazis that is the whole point of playing a game where you kill them because they're f*cking awful people. We do not need another person that we are supposed to have a forced hatred for because we already hate the villains of the game (the Nazis as you could have guessed). Secondly, I did not care about ANY of the characters, so much forced characterization and completely unnecessary characters or moments none of the characters in this game are likable and I felt nothing when one of them gets killed right in front of you because I hated 95% of the characters. Thirdly, the head replacement. Why are you going to even bother killing the main character just to bring him back in the most ridiculous way ever?? They surgically re-attach his brain to a bionic body that Caroline just magically stole from the Nazi's like oh wow what a big convince to the story because no one has every killed a main character of the story; and if BJ's body is dying earlier in the game and he needed the suit to keep him alive why didn't they just oh I don't know fix his damn body because if they can surgically attach his head to a new body how come they couldn't fix his old one?? And I understand the game is a somewhat sci-fi story set in a world where the Nazis win so it has weird future tech that is a bit fantastical and that is perfectly fine when handled the way they did the first one. The first one knew how to handle it's wacky premise perfectly by knowing when to ease up on the seriousness and when to really hit you hard. As in the first one when you make the choice for either Wyatt or Fergus, it is absolutely gut-wrenching. When they do basically the same thing in this one cutting off Caroline's head, it lost its effect. Also in the first one when you go to the moon, it isn't taken fully serious but it is still made to seem 100% serious and it is handled perfectly. But instead of going back to the moon in Wolf 2 you go to, wait for it, JUPITER for a damn ACTING AUDITION to steal launch codes like who the f*ck thought that was a good idea. And this game does not have an ending, you want a satisfying ending where you get to kill the enemy, nope, an awfully lame and short cut scene is all you get.

In conclusion Wolf 2 is the less fun shark jump of Wolf 1

Just to give yourself the right to criticize every aspect of the game?
This is a well made game, the shooting feels great, the setting is really good and you can't possibly expect an FPS to have a 80+ hour long plot, that would be insane; and no, Fallout 3/4 and Skyrim are NOT first person shooters, they are first person ROLE PLAYING GAMES, that's why they have a long story. In Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus you "just" shoot everything that moves until they're all dead. You can't do that for 80 hours expecting the game not to get boring. 10-12 hours for the main story is a really good length.

This is a game you need to play if you like the Wolfenstein universe, first person shooters and don't care for multiplayer. Otherwise, you're in the wrong place and that's all your fault, not the game's.

The sequel, the new colossus takes place directly after the events of the New Order. Its a fun shoot em up that's well designed and thought out, however i don't think it lives up to its predecessor. The story felt dull at a few points in the game while a few other points stood out. While the New order was almost stealth heavy, this game i felt lacks that and is a little disappointing. The sequel, the new colossus takes place directly after the events of the New Order. Wolfenstein 2 is the best game of 2017 for Xbox one with the most action-packed gameplay and a griping story It makes you feel like a Badass. With challenging yet extremely enjoyable gameplay, if you haven’t got this game I extremely recommended you try it and it’s £25 which is half the price of a full priced game.

The New Colossus is the direct sequel to the new order… Spoilers for the first game you don’t die at the end… once again you play as William Blazkowicz, and while you don’t die in the first game... you are left wheelchair bound… which makes for a really unique opening to game...
and one of the most brutal openings to a video game I’ve ever experienced..
You don’t stay this way forever thanks to a body suit you’re able to walk again…
This time the game takes place in America...
Once again in an alternate history where the Nazis won the war…
seeing how this win affected America is thought provoking, and full of emotion…
Easily one of the most impactful campaigns I’ve ever played through in a shooter…
Here you’re starting to spark a revolution and take back America, killing some Nazi scum…
Wolfenstein 2 is a much more compact game compared to the original, this time only taking around 6 and a half hours to complete…
But it’s an enjoyable 6 and a half hours...
much more linear as well with the same concepts of taking out scouts so they don’t trigger alarms, and stealthing through areas or going in guns blazing…
The weapon variety isn’t as vast, but you have your typical base weapons you’d expect in most shooters... but to bring some variety in, your guns are all upgradable, allowing you to add a perk to give them an entirely different feel….
The level design isn’t that great this time around…
it feels pretty dull and generic…
The greatness comes in the setting and the story telling…
when the game puts you into perspective of the world around you..
Without the great story pieces, this is still a good shooter… but just good...
There are no epic fights or showdowns…
Just a bunch of running from point a to b and shooting everything in your way…
it plays and feels how you’d expect, but no moments outside of cut scenes blew me away
I love how the story was delivered though, in ways you wouldn’t expect and are surprising each time…
This game will break your heart, it will give you hope, it will take it away…
for those reasons alone, you owe it to yourself to play through this first person shooter…
I give Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
    an 8.5/10

Best game of 2017. It is so much fun and has a great story. It is not a long story but has much more you can do after the 12 or so hours of main gameplay. It also has an amazing setting of the 1960's if the Nazis won the war. It seems very realistic with a focus on technology. This is such a good game and I recommend it to anyone who likes single player games.

The story, while cartoonish and over-the-top at times (in a good way, this is an action game where, in the 1991 iteration, you kill mecha-Hitler after all), has a surprising amount of emotional depth—exploring the complicated relationship between the main character's father, mother, and growing up in a racist household. It draws logical parallels between the desired white ethno-state of the KKK and the white ethno-state promised by the Nazis. It continues the tradition of inserting humor, emotion, and character development into a franchise that, up until recently, had no deeper story than "kill Nazis."

This game is controversial, definitely. Many people are taking it very personally that the KKK aligns with the Nazis and proves to be their foothold in America. Many of these reviews are crying that it paints white people as terrible, but there are just as many white freedom fighters as there are black freedom fighters. Anyone who conflates this as white racism is taking it a bit personally, and perhaps has some self-reflection to do.

The gameplay is tight, and it's a really good feeling shooter. The guns can feel a bit like pea shooters, especially given the weight and sound-design of other recent shooters like Destiny 2, but on the whole, the variety of moves, weapons, and strategies to get through a level put it in territory more akin to Far Cry, which is not a bad thing.

TL;DR—Good gameplay. Surprisingly deep, personal, emotionally-deep story. People need to stop taking the "controversial" element of this game so personally, and realize it's just a game.

Couldnt bring myself to finish the game, it got way to political, I like killing nazi's as much as the next guy, but I feel it was too cringey at times, and was obviously talking about the "nazi's" present in America right now. I tried my best to ignore the political message, but it was too hard at times.

I'm kind of in awe that some people are giving this game 0/10 or 1/10 for reasons like too short or no multiplayer, Well first of all for a single player game the story is damn long and has plenty of replay value, with exceptional game play, voice acting and narrative that keeps the story engaging, it's just the same as watching a well made film that gives you enjoyment multiple times over you have a game gives you that exact same feeling although you have many more hours and get to be a part of the action. Now to people that say no multiplayer......... just **** off.......yep simply put **** off, you knew this game was not going to have multiplayer so using that as a detractor is like buying a car knowing it's a three door and then complaining to the manufacturer that it doesn't have five, which quite simply makes you sounds a remtard short of trying to bite your own ear off while trying to use your fingers to touch your wrists.

My hat goes off to the developers who have poured time, effort and love in to this game and have created something that hasn't been seen in modern gaming for the last 20 years, and with the recent craze of loot boxes, DLC and season passes suffocating games in a cloud of greed it's a welcome change for a developer to show how things should be done, so please support games like these and hopefully EA, Ubisoft and other "AAA" developers will take note and stop producing games for the sole purpose of testing how tight they can squeeze their consumers ****

10/10 guys, great job and can't recommend this game enough.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved this game to death. The new systems like upgrades and free dual wielding make it a blast to shoot and melt Nazis that are oppressing America. The new guns like the dieselkraftwerk and Maschinenpistole the reworked old guns like the schockhammer that now has 3 barrels and the kampfpistole with a magazine to the new heavy weapons that are crazy fun. The story how ever leaves something to wish for. The New Order was a fun and less serious at times with very spooky and nervous moments like Death's Head and choosing to save one of the game's main characters was a heart sinking moment to see the other dissected and saved by this spooky general who later is shown to save hundreds of people's brains in tubes which was shocking. The influence of Caroline and other great characters made the story memorable . It also had some fun moments and goofy humor and fantastic set pieces through out the game from the musty castle and the chaos of the trenches and huge Nazi cities with buildings and the brutal setting of the prison to the wonder of being on the moon and seeing the earth. Not saying that the New Colossus does not have a bunch of great settings like a really retro style city street with a parade and the dusty waste land of Venus mixed with the future like space interior. It just seems like locations are over too quick for me. The New York waste land for example was really interesting to me since I enjoy Fallout and this was quite similar. I don't really think there was time to really soak in the art and creative effort put into it while other locations like a completely destroyed and war torn New Orleans was fantastic since there were so many different things to see. It also sees very few serious and impact full moments that the New Order had. Now the only choice that is made is in a flash back which determines which gun you will get which seems kinda like a cop out of a new major choice. The only real impactful moment to me was when Caroline died and Engel paraded her head and when Super Spesh was shot and when BJ was captured. Other than that the game seemed to take a fun approach to the story which isn't really that awful but I felt a little less engaged but there are still minor cut scenes that tackle issues about judging people where Sigrun who was a formor Nazi does not want to be called a Nazi by Grace who still calls her a Nazi after she defects which is ironic since the critics of this game who think it is SJW bull crap but anyway. Overall the shooting and gameplay are very fun and exciting and the story is slightly less engaging but overall a fun game if a bit short and I do have a gripe with the game which is you can not go back and play older missions instead opting to travel back to select areas where you can collect stuff which is annoying if you didn't get the select collectibles which now are unobtainable which is a minor annoyance but the game is still a wonder run and gun game full of upgrades and interesting settings and characters even if they are a bit brief. I still find myself going back and playing even though I finished the story.

After about a year to let the game sit i start to notice the game's flaws and it took some others to open my eyes to the flaws of the game as i was blinded by the high action parts of the game. I was most annoyed by the lack of a chapter selector after the game. The sub missions were ok but left a lot to be desired. In the new order it was great to go back with the under barrel rocket launder and play some of the levels to get the collectibles and such. Now you can only get some and its very annoying to cherry pick certain collectibles on another profile. playing through the painfully short game when you skip the cut scenes. The game has great gun play and runs fantastically on xbox one s it seems to run at a nice 60 fps consistently any it has a variety of combat situations and enemies which react differently with different upgrades and i like that but it seems like the game doesnt really want you to run and gun giving a dedicated lean mechanic on the controller and if you go for kill animations you will have your health and armor drained if you are in the open which sucks considering its roots as the original run and gun shooter. It was disappointing after the great success of Doom 2016 following wolfenstien the new order bringing it back to the roots but this game feels more watered down on the run and gun. If it werent for the fantastic contraptions that can really shake up the combat it would be really painful to play through. The story is also kind of iffy as it romanticizes the extremist groups of the real world making them sound better than the Nazis when the Communists were the same if not worse than the Nazis and the radical black resistance group that make all white people sound like they are Nazis. I feel that it gets better near the end of the game where they learn to exist together. I'd say its a good game to borrow or rent not buy.

I find the game super fun! It does start off a bit meh but when you reach about 25% it is good and from about 50% it is so good that it might be one of the best games I’ve ever played. The “Acting part” when you meet a certain A.H might be the best produced cut scene in gaming history! I find that part absolutely hilarious.

The GOOD: Story (depth, angle and execution) Voice actors

It seemed like a good story from the little that I played. I can't really say much more about it because the amount of head bobbing when your character moves even in the slightest is so nauseating it made the game unplayable. I couldn't get into this one that much, but at the same time I really couldn't put the game down too. Wolfenstein 2 is a generic FPS with not much creativity. The game play is fun, but really repetitive after awhile. The campaign is longer than a stander FPS along with some side mission, but their's not a whole lot to do after that. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The problem with creating a follow up to a critically acclaimed game is that you have already set the bar extremely high. Machine Games created a masterpiece when they rebooted the franchise, but with each follow-up entry it feels more and more distant from what the original got right. Don’t get me wrong, the game is solid, but most of the new mechanics are more frustrating than fun.

The New Colossus picks up months after the first game’s ending, with our hero BJ Blazkowicz in a coma and paralyzed from his injuries sustained from taking down the Nazi war machine at the end of the original game. You’ll begin the game as the Nazi regime is attacking the stolen U boat BJ and his cohorts have commandeered and been using as a mobile base in their revolution. Being paralyzed from the waist down, BJ must use a wheelchair to navigate through the boat taking down Nazi’s using the stealth and gunplay the series has become known for. Upon completion of the level, you will be given one of the heavy choices the series is so fond of, which has little effect on the outcome of the game. You are given the Iron Man like armor featured in the previous game, which allows BJ to walk once again.

The remainder of the story will take place in various locales across the US, Venus, as well as through flashbacks. One event at the beginning of the game almost caused me to stop playing, as I was forced to shoot my own dog. As someone who takes animal welfare to heart, this struck a nerve with me. Most of the scripted events that were awe inspiring in the original tend to fall flat on this outing, although the story remains engaging for the most part. A highlight was seeing a topless pregnant woman covered in blood wielding two automatic guns saving BJ from a large group of Nazi’s. I also found the depiction of an aged, sickly Hitler to be worthy of a few chuckles, despite the fact we are unable to directly take his life in this entry.

The overall presentation of the game is top notch, with the visuals on the standard Xbox One exceeding the already amazing textures and character models of the original, I can’t wait to get my hands on an Xbox One X and see the improvements offered in the 4K update. With the exception of a few character models clipping into scenery, I rarely felt the immersion was broken. The sound effects and dialogue were also top notch, with the only issue I experienced being that some of the subtitles, which are needed to understand the German, often bled into the background or were blurry, as if they didn’t load properly.

The game controls just as well as you remember, with the only downfall being the clunky weapon selection. Like the original, you can duel wield any weapons at any time; however, trying to switch to a single pistol during stealth segments is a bit of a chore and resulted in fiddling with the wheel longer than I would have liked. In addition to the decent story, there is a score attack mode that will allow you to replay various stages from the game, without your upgrades, to compete for medals which serve no real purpose. Sadly, the new game plus option has been removed in lieu of open world areas, allowing you to explore the game freely to search for additional upgrades and seek out the game’s 200+ collectibles. This mode also features some side missions which are completely optional, but I would have preferred the new game plus option to be added.

Post-game, you’ll be treated to a new difficulty, which is the hardest mode I have ever played in my life. The game tasks the player to complete the game on the hardest difficulty, which is no joke this time around, with permadeath on. While the Nazi’s in the original were nothing but bullet fodder for BJ, the AI has been improved, making this venture much more difficult than the original. I struggled on the normal difficulty and actually had to reduce it on a number of occasions, which luckily can be changed at any time through the games menu. Unfortunately, this improvement makes the numerous stealth segments much more difficult than before. Enemies will now flock to the corpses of their fallen comrades, meaning you have to work quickly as well as silently.

If you love their original reboot, you will likely enjoy this follow up, although I feel Machine Games missed the mark with this sequel. While not a bad game, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus won’t be remembered as the masterpiece we all hoped for after the last one.

This is a great single-player FPS. Better than Destiny 2 or BF1 or COD.

I confess that it took me a couple of hours to become a believer. Some of the cut scenes are too long (I figured out how to skip) and the wheel chair navigation at the beginning was not my favorite. But once you get to the mainland/base the game ramps up in its greatness. The electricity weapons are amazing to use

There are extras hidden through and the weapons upgrades really make a difference. I'm going to play through again.

It's a definite improvement over the last three outings, with fewer gimmicks, although they are all games I enjoyed. I would love for the series to have returned to the idea of the Nazis invoking dark, supernatural forces, as in Return, but without spoiling it, Wolfenstein has the next best plot device.

Talking of plot, this game also has the best plot of the series (excepting the lack of dark forces noted above) with a series of well developed, enjoyable characters rather than the usual literary cannon fodder found in such games. Most of all though, it develops Blazkowicz into an actual, relatable human being, with a solid exploration of his background, which is delivered in a clever and enjoyable way. It also gives him direction and hope for the future, which these days is much better than "duuuuh, me kill bad men". Not that the Nazis weren't bad men. They were. Very. And still deserve killing in video games. Which this game allows you to do, prolifically.

Graphics are great, with some really varied locations. Sound and music does what it says on the tin. But it still all comes back to well implemented shooting of Nazis with as much prejudice as possible, in a slick, top of the range FPS. Excellent.

    Cons:
    - No replay value. replay value consists of more combat (backtracking old levels..mostly) , which is the weakest part of the game.

Overall great game with its characters and cutscenes carrying it and standard linear fps experience. It took me 15 hours, but I had no desire to go back whatsoever. I give it an 8. but it is definately closer to a 7 than a 9.. reccomended for people who like a game with great characters, but maybe what for a sale, if you are all about gameplay.

This game is disgusting, and its attempt to be edgy in today's political climate only escalates my distaste for progressive politics.

The climat... it feels like an old Wolfenstein 3D with modern environment. Still, you can even play Wolf3d in this game!

OK, the missions are kinda repetitive - go there, kill as many nazis as you can, but there are some rare memorable moments like pretending to be an actor in the movie made by... guess who. And you don't have to kill everything, I tried to use as many stealth as it was possible to take down the officers first.
Levels are varied from the space station on Venus through destroyed NYC to an old disintegrating house somewhere in the countryside of the USA.
The game on normal difficulty can be demanding. Didn't try the hardest one with the controller so far ;)
Ammount of bugs on XBO is low, just found a few graphical glitches.
I never play games twice, but I want to do it with this one just to see another plot in the story where you can choose a path at the begining of the game.

Together with previous part its just must play for someone who loves old good shooting games, not some f*****g mix of Mario Bross and Doom like they did in doom eternal.

I think the mild disappointment I feel about the newer Wolfenstein games is a matter of taste. As a Jewish American, the power fantasy of mowing down Nazis in the original Wolfenstein was intoxicating. That same cultural identity is what makes the newer games a depressing slog for me. This game is extremely well made, I just can't say that it's any fun.

they also did a really great job with the sound and the music as well
and the game goes for 14 to 16(without doing side quest,s) hours long which is a good time for a game like this to run for
great difficulty choices the difficulty i ended playing this game on was perfect at least for me(terror billy difficulty level)
    (bad stuff)
they added some side quest in this game but their really boring you go to a location that you most likely already explored to go kill a commander that,s only a little harder to kill then your average grunt
(i would rather help Preston Garvey with another settlement then do these side quests not even joking)
boss battles are gone which is a shame since new order,s bosses where interesting to fight against
not enough new weapons to use(in my opinion)
and not enough new enemy types to kill
    (overall thoughts)
despite this games flaws i still had a great time with the game if they had just took the resources they used to make the side quests to instead make some interesting and well designed challenging boss battles and some more main story missions (even if its only 1 or 2 more missions) and more enemy types i would off easily scored this game higher

    No for the cons:
    - The main problem with this game is that it has an identity crisis, simply put it the game doesn’t know what it wants to be. It feels like a run and gun, plays like a run and gun (60 % of the time) with fast paced movement and 2 weapons at the same time but essentially, it’s not run and gun. Large portions of the game better be played stealthy but sometimes you just want to go in guns blazing and you get obliterated in seconds:
    - Difficulty, to fully enjoy the game I had to go for the lowest difficulty setting
    - Stealth sucks, it just sucks, enemies see you when they shouldn’t and cover mechanic doesn’t help either.
    - Weapon wheel is clunky and just doesn’t feel right
    - Technical issues like constant stuttering before the cutscenes
    - Low res textures every now and then
    - Picking up armor, weapons and ammo is a mess, you have to be precise for auto pickup and pressing X every time in the middle of an intense fight doesn’t’ help either
Overall I’m a bit disappointed, good thing I have it on the game pass.

A lot of standard Bethesda **** keeps this promising game from being a decent one and instead makes it a huge miss of potential. If you want a game that offers a similar experience but is miles better, Doom is right up your alley. Everything that this game tries to do (minus the story), Doom did so much better in every conceivable way. If you have played both games, you know that Doom is just the fun version of this. Wolfenstein II: The New Order is almost great but is held back by a number of issues. A few design choices Machine Games made far too often took me out of the game and frustrated me to no end. For such a great feeling game, the lack of damage indicators to and from enemies made the game feel off far too many times. An outdated health system forced me to play the game differently than I wanted to. Instead of the clear intent at fast paced chaotic action the game does so well, I was too often hiding behind cover, scouring for health packs, and dying in seconds due to frequent difficulty spikes. Even with these issues, I still had an overall positive experience with the game due to strong story beats and chaotic moment to moment action. Wolfenstein II is a game I would recommend to anyone but is a game that may leave you feeling a bit frustrated in the end.

Smart, satisfying, brutal: Undoubtedly one of the best shooters of the generation.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus brings gamers around the world and single player, first person shooter that delivers a fantastic storyline, beautiful graphics, and an experience that is hard to surpass on any platform. Bethesda and MachineGames have done a tremendous job in showcasing evil exists in the world, the fight that good people have to go through to prevent this evil from taking hold, and what happens when good people do absolutely nothing. This game is easily a contender for game of the year, with only a few shortcomings, and I expect to see Wolfenstein II make a serious case for why they deserve the crown.
