Mar 28, 2019Despite its failure to create an identity for itself, Windscape is still a charming and fun little throwback game that's at least worth a trek through its colorful and danger-filled world. Witte's love for retro adventure RPGs fuels the title and his love for those games is apparent throughout. It's just a shame that Windscape leaned so hard into nostalgia instead of taking some risks and expanding on its intriguing sandbox setting.

Apr 1, 2019Even though it is not as polished and original as some of its rivals, Windscape has a certain charm that is impossible to ignore. That said, it’s a bit of a slow burner, which may put some off, but should you get through those opening stages will find a a solid adventure game in its own right.

May 2, 2019Windscape was an odd experience for me. While I enjoyed the Skyrim-like feel to many of the mechanics, it simply felt like a poor man’s Skyrim for the whole adventure. There’s nothing inherently wrong or poor with Windscape at all, it simply didn’t do anything to impress me and I never really got that sense of vast accomplishment, even when completing a dungeon and defeating its boss. Windscape is completely average, which isn’t a bad thing, but it’s tough to keep your attention in the long term.

Mar 27, 2019Even as a big fan of open world adventures, I simply could not find any real enjoyment to be had here. There’s nothing particularly wrong with a simpler approach to this style of game, but due to the sheer lack of active engagement with its world and its systems, I daresay that even dedicated players will grow tired of Windscape long before the quest is over.
