Wildfire on Xbox is bursting with ideas, and there is a deceptively deep stealthy adventure on offer. Sometimes the pacing can feel off, but once you get your head around it, there’s plenty to enjoy here.

The many distinct scenarios within Wildfire are great fun to master no matter how you approach them and it's impressively funny, too.

Use your elemental powers to start fires, freeze water, and move earth as you outsmart superstitious enemies in this mischievous 2D stealth game that allows you to embrace elements to your advantage, as a concept the game had a lot of potential. However, I didn’t feel like Wildfire brought anything new to the table, it’s riddled with a few bugs, lacks some creative level design, and enemy variety. Even though the elements were fun to use, it does make up for the shortcomings that this game has in some ways. Wildfire contains a lot of familiar features if you’ve played other stealth games. Enemies have set patrol routes that you must navigate while avoiding their line of sight. The player character’s actions generate noise that enemies can hear. Sounds are visualized by a ring emitted from the player character; enemies outside the ring won’t be alerted to your location. Objects in the environment can be used as hiding places to conceal the playable character. It’s standard play for the type of game that it’s aimed to be. Worth checking out for fans of the genre. Loads of cool powers, from control of Fire, Water, and Earth (grass), the game gives you a wide variety of tools to solve all the problems in front of you. Each level gives you several objectives aside from the main one that you can complete, including saving villagers, completing the level without killing, or completing the level without being detected. Doing so will net you rewards in the way of spirit points or a point into the elemental power of your choice. The game offers Co-op, but I didn't get to try it for this review. My one big hold up with the Xbox version is that I had some glitches where the game would not save or would not count achievements, I believe it has to do with how the game connects to Xbox Live, but so far this is the only game I have run into this issue with. The not saving wouldn't be an issue if the game had Quick Resume support, but unfortunately it does not. Ultimately though, if you are a fan of stealth games, I highly recommend this one.
