Dec 31, 2019Weakless is not exactly a masterpiece, but it is a beautiful little game with an undeniable amount of charm and a heartfelt message. The game tells a story of the beauty of nature and perseverance through friendship. The narrative is kept to a minimum to ensure you experience its themes and concepts through the gameplay, which is a lot of fun despite some glaring rough edges.

Jan 20, 2020Weakless is a unique game that presents a unique performance, with characters that we can empathize with.

Feb 10, 2020Weakless is a very short game with very easy puzzles. It is set in a beautiful world with good but repetitive music. It has unique characters that forces players to play as both a blind and a deaf character which I found to be very different and fun.

Jan 20, 2020Weakless is a slow-paced puzzle adventure that will be particularly engaging for those players who want to take a break and relax while gaming. It’s beautiful and intriguing, and it’s a great choice to sit back and relax with your controller.

Dec 13, 2019Weakless is a triumphantly beautiful and complex indie puzzler game that would make a fine addition to any fan of the genre's collection.

Dec 24, 2019Weakless is really colourful and vibrant and shows good promise if the team decide to do more work like this. There’s lots going on depending on who you play as which I found great. The contrast in gameplay between the deaf and blind Weavlings forces you to constantly analyse a situation and using them both to overcome obstacles is satisfying and rewarding. Overall my experience was enjoyable, it’s just a shame that it all ended so soon.

Jan 27, 2020Weakless brings some interesting and thought-provoking ideas on the table, but those ideas feel underdeveloped and the overall experience is too short, especially considering the launch price.

Mar 25, 2020Weakless is a good idea that hasn't been fully realized. The idea of different game perspectives is well thought-out, but everything else is content to be mediocre. From the puzzles to the stages to the story, everything feels familiar and disposable, with no one element to make up for another's shortcomings. It isn't a terrible title if you can overlook some of the bugs, but Weakless is certainly a title that would be better suited for a subscription service as opposed to full ownership.

Jan 15, 2020A fascinating world with luscious forestry and an intriguing species. You can tell a lot of passion went into developing it. The puzzles are quite simple but still satisfying to complete. It’s short, which isn’t usually an issue for me, but the pacing seemed a bit off. I felt as if I were in the middle of a game because of how the puzzles go from easy to moderate in difficulty. Even though you have two characters to control, most of the time you’ll be using Deaf since he is fast and you can really appreciate the beautiful world. There are a decent amount of tweaks that could really enhance the experience while playing, specifically fixed bugs and a narrator to tell the story as if it was being read to you like a book.
-
Dec 31, 2019Overall, it feels skeletal and in need of more meat on its bones, more consistent pacing and a bit more mechanical complexity. Even the most inept puzzle solvers will breeze through Weakless in less than a handful of hours and its linear direction and puzzle design don’t leave much for additional playthroughs.
-
Dec 30, 2019Other than the common camera issues, Weakless is an interesting experience that does a great job of expressing two characters and how they view the world. Sight and sound are senses that are often taken for granted in other titles, so having an adventure that allows both, but not at the same time, makes for an interesting puzzler. Puzzles aren't too extreme and are easy to figure out and solve. Rather than treating this as a 'game,' think of it more as an experience instead, as it does away with the typical game-y aspects, to focus on exploring a world with the sensory disadvantages.
-
Dec 24, 2019From my first moments with Weakless on Xbox One, I really wanted to love the experience. The world, characters and unique gameplay see this come across as the type of game that I adore, and it cries out to be just that. However, whilst the gameplay is good, the running time is very short and it doesn’t do quite enough to live up to its full potential; at times it feels like a beta playthrough for a much bigger game or idea.

CD-ActionJan 15, 2020The gameplay features are so modest that you know everything you will be doing in the game just 15 minutes in. [02/2020, p.56]
