Watch dogs was always different from standard open world 3rd person shooter game but this sets it far apart from any other game. The amount of freedom and time you can invest in this game is worth the 60$. This is where the open world genre will innovate itself from not being limited to one character but instead a legion of characters for you to toy with. Hats off to ubisoft for making such an interesting step forward which will now probably be credited to the next open world game which uses this idea and makes it work. But for me this is a big step forward and i hope they will keep at it with this game and its online modes. Looking forward for the future of Watch Dogs! Expand

why do we need this game? To find out that you can create London, I saw it in Syndicate (and it was great there) I miss the Noir of the original watch dogs, its hero lacked a bit. If there was a greater emphasis on realism, closer to the series mr Robot, this game would be a masterpiece, and the new assassin's creed. But now, it's just ridiculous.

It's Ok. But a mish mash of good and bad,
The gameplay feels more proscriptive than it should. While there are multiple paths to success, there is an obvious best one in most campaign missions.
I hear the same speech too often. The recruit speech is almost the same every time and I've not come across very many variations of accent. There are parkour "lite" things to do in the game, but

I hear the same speech too often. The recruit speech is almost the same every time and I've not come across very many variations of accent.
There are parkour "lite" things to do in the game, but these are done really badly. Some walls or barriers you can climb - others you can't Often there is no logic as to why you can't climb. You scale a 8 foot wall easily, then can't scale the next 7 foot high wall. Why?

The gunplay is ok. The spider bot is overpowered but fun for a while.
Recruiting is a waste of time. I've found no need to change character except where a mission demands I use someone specific - like a construction worker to use one of the large hover pad things. Most missions it really doesn't make much - if any - difference who you use.

The graphics are good but even on a relatively high end PC running from NVME drive, a 8700K running at 4.9 Ghz all cores, 32 gigs of 3200 ram and a 2070 Super card there are stutters as (I think) textures are loaded in.

The politics are ham fisted. Given the "thought and language" police that are everywhere in UK society in the last 10 years at the moment, destroying careers, destroying lives, insisting on increasingly worrying additions to legislation designed to curb freedom - come exclusively from the left wing. It feels like a "bait and switch" to pretend these issues are from the right wing as this game s awkwardly and transparently insists. Mind you left wing fascism is a "thing" these days and maybe that's what this is.
That said it's easy to ignore the messages as although they are everywhere, they are so simplistic and un-nuanced that - when I played - I was soon in a different universe. It was so unlike reality that in my mind it soon wasn't and this was just "random made-up world"

I love the whole series, all of them were awesome, especially Legion. The developers worked hard on this game and it must of been hard to work on the voice acting. This game as such a intriguing story line-keeps you playing.

I have seen a lot of negative reveiws on this game and I understand that not everyone will share the same opinion with me but are we playing the same game!?

Obviously its not perfect but I think it is really good, not just for an ubisoft game but a game in general.

The gameplay is really smooth depending on what operative your are using, if you have a professional hitman, you can go up to people and execute them jhon wick style, and if you have a beekeeper you can send a swarm their way and it just feels so cool.(there are many more operatives with great abilities) while if you didnt like the gameplay of WD or wd2, you may not have as much fun as me ut I still think it could offer enough to let you have fun.(NOTICE!If you are someone who likes going up against very smart AI, the ai in this game, though quite unforgiving if caught, can be very dumb)

i'm not sure about PC or Xbox but the game seems very well optimized on my ps4 pro, the graphics are great, the loading times arent obnoxious like some other games that came out this year and the input is perfectly fine. Another complaint I have heard is that the story is boring and while Its no the last of us or the witcher 3, it is really solid and entertaining. (without any spoilers) the plot is basically something happens to london and dedsec that requires you to recruit the people of london and un cover the person disturbing the have to find the perpetrators and restore peace in london.

People have also been saying that it is a very repetitive game and I just have to disagree , there are so many things to do around london and so many Ways to infiltrate each hideout whether you go in guns a blazing, stealthily, with a drone, disguised, etc. It always has new things to offer. Also, cto clear each borough of London, they have similar missions that have been re touched to feel unique each time and the final mission of each borough is unique and rewards you with an elite operator (spy, drone expert, anarchist, etc.) That has special abilities that is hard to find just on the streets. (The only thing that feels repetitiveto me is the pipe puzzles but they dont seem to be as frequent as they were in WD1 or 2)

I HAVE BOUGHT THE GAME ON THE STANDARD EDITION ($60) and it doesnt feel like I'm missing out on anything so dont feel inclined to but the gold or ultimate edition unless you want to expand on your experience of the game.

People bombing this game probably 1) dont like watch dogs to begin with and thought this game would change their minds. Or 2) think that this game was going to be a materpiece. I'm going to segment this review into a few sections: Performance, Gameplay, Story, and Subjective.

PERFORMANCE: For reference, I am playing on PC. I have a 1660 TI, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core processor. My machine is by no means top of the pile, but it's easily able to run things like DOOM Eternal or The Witcher 3 on Ultra with stable, 60+ FPS. That is not the case

    PERFORMANCE:
For reference, I am playing on PC. That is not the case with this game. Even running on medium, I average about 45 FPS, which sometimes reaches 60 when I'm indoors, and consistent drops to 30 when I'm driving. I have up-to-date drivers, and I'm not trying to run this with ray tracing - I'm not dumb. This game runs *atrociously,* which makes the game difficult to enjoy.

    GAMEPLAY
The ability to recruit operators is implemented quite blandly. They amount to little more than an aesthetic change with very slightly different abilities - maybe a different gun or a different gadget, more commonly slightly bonuses in melee combat. Speaking of melee combat, it is unbearably dull. For reference, I was playing with a PS4 controller. Melee consistent mostly of waiting for your opponent to swing, dodging, and then performing a counter-attack. That's it. It goes no further than that. You can take on a theoretically indefinite number of enemies in this way, as you are invulnerable while attacking. There is a sidequest where you must compete in various underground street-fighting competitions, and it was undoubtedly one of the dullest parts of the game. The gunplay is fine. Nothing to write home about, nothing to complain about. The stealth is identical to any other Ubisoft game. The nemesis system is virtually non-existent - it doesn't go much deeper than simply marking someone who killed your operator as "Adversary" and giving you a bonus reward for killing them. Overall, the gameplay is bland but not horrible.

    STORY
Most of this will be subjective. I find the premise a little ridiculous, especially considering that this is supposed to be London one year from now (the game is set in 2021.) The UK government has dissolved the Metropolitan Police and replaced it with a private military corporation. This corporation is essentially free to do as it pleases, violating the rights of the citizens of London, however and whenever they please. Without the proper set up, this just comes across as absurd and difficult to believe. With the approach of having infinite playable operators but no established main character, the story is difficult to get in to, as the lack of a protagonist that we journey alongside throughout the plot makes emotional investment a chore.

    SUBJECTIVE
Honestly, I hate the aesthetic of this game. The original Watch Dogs game, flawed though it was, knew what it wanted to be. Aidan was dressed mundanely but believably, in such a way that he looked cool, but also liked any guy off the street, which is to be expected for someone who wants to maintain a low profile. Watch Dogs two began to branch out a little bit with the aesthetic, giving characters LED masks with changing faces. This felt a little off to me, but honestly, it was bearable. Watch Dogs 2 also had a more grounded feel, as the protagonist (whose name escapes me) had to use something other than a smart phone for some tasks, given the limited capacity of such a device. In Watch Dogs Legion, the aesthetic is all over the place. Characters can have holographic cat ears or halos. They have flashy jackets and shiny pants, despite the fact that they are attempting to covertly fight against tyranny - so one would imagine they'd need to blend in. Half the characters look like they're at a contest to become a Skrillex groupie, and the other half look bland. The hair, as it usually does in Ubisoft games, looks very bad, like painted fabric glued on to silicone.

I didn't have very high expectations for this game. I thought it would probably be an ok game that would probably feel like any other Ubisoft game. As far as exploration goes, at least there aren't any towers. 4 / 10.

None of the characters you can really relate to and there is no chemistry between the characters unlike Watch Dogs 2 were the characters would often make jokes with each other and actually have emotions. The gameplay is lacking where they got rid of some features such being able to choose what weapons you want and being stuck to very slim to no options. There is no phone feature and you can not edit the music to make your own playlist or call in cars. The only way to get a car is hoping your character has one standard or steal one. The handling model for cars feels worse than the previous games and cars seem slower too. The characters will often share the same voice actors and voice lines. The missions seem very straight forward and simple. Ubisoft got rid of the fun puzzles and side game modes. Overall the gameplay seems like a worse FarCry with technology were you go to one district and liberate the place but there are less missions than a FarCry game and they are way easier. I would only recommend this game if it was Pre-Owned and on sale for Black Friday, the game is not worth it and unbelievable boring. The game has also major crashing issues, I have experienced over 10 crashes in my time playing. Expand

frankly the best thing about the game is the setting.
as usual, the ubisoft game is poorly optimized and polished, waiting screens are horrible and long. the characters lack soul and although the concept of the game is very good, the development is disastrous, I have played 3 hours and I feel that the story is dust, it is a pity that ubi does not know when to stop exploiting his sagas.

I really hope Ubi comes back and optimizes it more on all platforms. Unfortunately they don't have a great track record in that area.
So it seems like it will be a decent game if you like open world games and just waisting some time and having some fun. But what it doesn't have is a gripping story or characters you care about. If you go in knowing what to expect and like this type of game this should satisfy!

My gripes really stem from the place of being a fan. Anyone entering Watch Dogs: Legion looking for a by the books open world game is going to find a lot to enjoy. There are small puzzles to solve, plenty of collectibles, lots of missions and I would say the shooting and driving are the best this series has ever been. Fans of the series like myself however will be disappointed by the lack of enjoyable characters as well as stand out missions and story beats. With how close Legion is releasing to Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Immortals Fenyx Rising it feels like Watch Dogs: Legion was left to fight for your attention and your money with less money put into development. I would recommend both Watch Dogs 1 & 2 as well as plenty of other Ubisoft experiences from the last few years before Legion at full price.

It’s a convincing facsimile, which makes trying to save it from Albion and its assorted cronies a more compelling task. And Legion’s big gimmick is that you can play as, well, anyone. Construction workers, lawyers, YouTube stars, retired cage fighters, Anarchists, football hooligans. All are served up by Ubisoft’s smart procedurally-generated trick, each with their own look, background and sometimes even voting record.
