That is the best addition to this game, and hats off to Ubisoft for bringing a new combat system rather than using a useless Yo-Yo stick in the previous game Watch Dogs 2. This game was good. Its basically a British Version of GTA 5 with a scale replica of London. I loved the plot of the story with the ending being sad (NO SPOILERS). I like this game but there are some flaws to this game. Sometimes when I'm in the menu it will automatically crash. There's also barely in Online Mode. But overall it is an "ok" game

This is a very poor and lazy effort, and inferior to both previous Watch Dogs in almost every conceivable way. Pretty much the only thing it has going for it is the London location.

The dialogue is cringeworthy; characters in the game speak like a 50-year-old’s idea of how teenagers speak… and they do this no matter their age or social class. Hearing a Barrister say “that’s well lit”… just, please… no. And almost every character (including the supposed comedy AI narrator that’s ripped off Portal 2) swears constantly in a way normal people simply don’t. And no attempt has been made to make the voices sound like they’re coming from the actual character in the game environment - it’s just a raw file from the soundproof recording booth pasted into the game with no post effects.,

The voice acting itself is abysmal with Dick Van Dyke “cockernee” accents and horribly flat emotionless “phoned in” delivery. And the way they’re sometimes inappropriately matched to certain characters likenesses strays into uncomfortable racist territory (witness an Asian female character speaking with a Jamaican accent, for example).

The graphics… well, it’s a sort of London (heavy condensed - would only fool tourists), and the buildings and streets generally do look great. But, unlike previous Watch Dogs games, you can’t go into any of the shops. The cars are mostly electric, but don’t sound like actual electric cars (they seem to change up through “gears”!) and the steering is very laggy. And there’s no in-car “cockpit” view - the previous two games had this, why is it missing here? In fact just about every cool feature from the previous two games is missing in this one, such as your mobile phone.

The playable and NPC character models are awful - they’re all slightly freakish-looking in some way or other; again, worse than the previous two games.

The plot is… hardly anything worth thinking about. You’re part of an underground movement fighting against bad people and a bad establishment. The game is just boring, with every mission feeling pretty much the same, and many missions going back to locations you’ve already visited.

Seriously… play this for a bit, and then go back and play the original Watch Dogs (which came in for so much criticism at release)… even in 2021, it’s much more fun.

Solid game, if it was only for the story and the game it-self it would be maybe an 8 for me, but then the SeriesX upgrade makes it shine up to a 9. Futuristic london just looks awsome with RayTracing and the bump of resolution on SeriesX. Till now, the best RayTracing experience on console, once i've seen what it can bring to the game all other games are lacking.

After playing as different characters, the only differences are some very minor bonuses (Such as access to a drone, a specific starting weapon or 10% off at clothing stores.) or some different dialogue. The AI seems to have trouble using their weapons to kill the player, because they will instead try to circle around them to gain some type of tactical advantage, but then stop short of doing anything with it.

It's not like the game is inherently awful or broken. It's just so painfully generic. This is the same game as all Assassin's creed games and Far Cry 2-5. Watch Dogs: Legion even has the stock "Comedy" character, who, while somewhat entertaining, just seems like a character that needed to be added because they needed to check off the "Humor" box.

It's a perfectly functional game. And if you're looking for another Ubi-sandbox game, then this will keep you busy. But you could also play any other modern open-world sandbox game, and probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Expand

However, I was rather apprehensive to purchase it after how bad Watchdogs 2 was. When I made the decision to buy it, I booted it up and was overall impressed with some aspects and dismayed with others. After finally finishing the game, I have come to a consensus on how I feel about the game and each of it's components:

Logistics and Running: The game ran pretty well, which I was surprised about, given how poorly and buggy other next generation games ran on my 7 year old Xbox One. The graphics and visuals were stunning at times and definitely added to the experience

Gameplay: Watchdogs is notorious for it's simple and, at times, mind-numbingly identical gameplay loop. This game attempts to change that but not by very much. You'll still find yourself cycling from three different objectives in different locations, with stealth, hacking, combat, and puzzles sprawled in between. However, I still found the game very fresh and enjoyable. I never felt bored during the campaign and I would have to say that Ubisoft created a very fun and engaging gameplay loop. On top of that, this game's gimmick is the whole "be anybody" mechanic, which introduces a variety of unique scenarios and problems. Each character's abilities and weapons made building your team a welcome and new addition to the game, adding more content and things to grind for. However, the ways to aquire these new operatives boils down to a boring and repetitive loop that can get real old real fast. I believe that the new mechanic is a double edged sword that does more good than harm overall. Finally, the gunplay and hacking is fanominal in this game. The various abiiities and weapons you can get to help out all feel satisfying.

Plot: This is where the game really struggles in my opinion. The setting and backstory, in my opinion, is one of the best parts about the game. I love the idea of a PMC seizing control and liberties from a free Britain after staged terrorist attacks. The modern setting also perfectly intertwines with this narrative, creating various interesting scenarios. However, this is where the praise stops. The characters are all one-dimensional good or or one-dimensional evil. There is no gray area and nobody's motivations or thoughts ever get fleshed out. On top of this, the "be anyone" mechanic is a thorn in the game's side, as you cannot connect to a single character since you are playing as several different people. Also, a nasty byproduct of there being so many possible main characters is that the voice acting is AWFUL. At times I laughed at how bad the line delivery was. The villains all are uninteresting and don't get enough time to be developed. They had a LOT of potential that was sadly wasted and squandered. Bagley, though, was the one character that got any development and I LOVED him. If everyone had the charisma and development of Bagley this game would be an automatic 10/10.

Overall, this game was a nice attempt at a return to form for the Watchdogs series. I am definitely going to buy the next game as I feel that Ubisoft has got themselves back on track. Anxiously awaiting this next release and this was an very enjoyable game that I had plenty of fun with.

A core principle of the game. you no longer have that. you have a bunch of bland characters that ubisoft tries so hard to shove down your throat that they are british. we get it, it is london. not every has to wear a british flag, a knight helmet or see a british flag every 10 feet in the game. its cliche after cliche and stereotype after stereotype. also if you kill someone you cant hide there body anymore so another person doesn't find them and set off an alarm. hours into the game and you still don't have a lethal gun. everything is non lethal. i get it its britian and guns arent legal. but come on its a damn video game. its watchdogs for crying out loud. the hacking also seems more like your swiping your credit card rather then actually hacking anything. its very quick and not satisfying. it seems they left out or shortened all the great small details that made watchdogs, watchdogs. i have been forcing myself to play it thinking..."i bet it gets good now". and never does. london of course has narrow streets so forget about highspeed chases. all you have to do to get away, is run and you will get away every time. i have literally never been caught fleeing anywhere. doesn't matter if you are on foot or driving. i bought the game for $40. i still wouldnt recommend it. if you are that curious buy it used at gamestop for $20 when you can or wait until it drops. it's just not worth the money. I wouldnt recommend it at any price but if you are curious, get it cheap. there is nothing they can do to improve the game. the problems are the very core of the game itself. horrible story, boring characters, boring weapons, no action. there are only about 7-8 types of vehicles in the entire city. this includes a scooter and 1 motorcycle. ubisoft was developing a few games at once and it shows this was not a priority. bare bones with everything. not even including the basics that made watchdogs a great series.

SomeReally unique game and I'm glad Ubisoft tried something different with this one, after all, people often complain of Ubisoft games being pretty cut and paste. Overall, I think this game is a very good with just some rough edges to buff out. London is a beautiful recreation and the dystopian future seems believable to me; the cars, guns, tech, buildings, etc. all compliment each other. Some buildings are historically old (Big Ben or Buckingham Palace) and some buildings are brand new (high-tech skyscrapers) - this clash of architectural styles results in a very unique and beautiful looking take on London.

The gameplay is not for everyone - it resembles State of Decay in a way, where you can build your own unique roster of characters with different abilities. Personally, I love it and think it gives the game a lot of replay value. You aren't forced to play as any particular character, but you will find some missions easier if you change up your playstyle from time to time - it also just makes it a lot more fun. Permadeath mode is something I haven't tried yet but will definitely use in my second playthrough, and that alone will add a lot of tension to characters you grow attached to. The hacking feels smooth and well-thought out, the gunplay is pretty standard (nothing wrong with it), and the combat is fun enough - I don't see anything inherently wrong with this game's gameplay systems and I commend it for trying new things - it can only improve from here.

Where the game faults are in its story (not unusual for a Ubisoft game), glitches/bugs, and overall awkwardness. I was not interested in the story and I can tell that that's a general consensus among many gamers, but that's okay, because nobody plays Watch Dogs for the story anyways - I bought this game for its unique gameplay systems and that's exactly what I got. Although, I wouldn't be against some better writing. The glitches are pretty bad, understandable for a new game, and it's certainly not as bad as some games at launch, but they're noticeable. My game has frozen about 5 or 6 times already and it's really a drag to have to restart the game over and over again (especially because the loading screens aren't quick). And lastly, the awkwardness does get in the way of immersion sometimes; characters will repeat dialogue lines they've already said, voices might not always match the character, and cutscenes with your characters just seem off. Of course, this makes sense since you can play as literally anyone, but it needs to be mentioned.

Despite the good things I've said about this game, I still think it deserves only a 6/10 because regardless of how unique it is trying to be, the game just seems to be boring once you finish it. There's not much to do and the restricted areas are all pretty cut-and-paste. I don't see this game having much longevity to it, but the story was fun while it lasted.

The setting, is good, however, a few days into playing it I just began to get really bored with it and it's dull enclosed atmosphere. The games feels and looks is kinda cheap and unsatisfying. It definitely has the worst graphics and gameplay out of all watch dogs. And also the story. This **** story! Where should i start, actually, i don't think i want to start, just thinking about it annoys me. Well i guess it was destined to have at the most a mediocre story. As you can choose who your main character is, there could be a really emotional moment (which there isn't) but you could be playing as a granny or sex worker, so it doesn't play out too well. The character designs are bad, the voice acting is dreadful, the glitches are almost certainly over common, and altogether a truly bad game. Expand

While I do wish that the recruitment mechanic brought a more personal taste, where I feel like I have my own team and its members interact in their own unique way, I'm still impressed with the variety of characters the developers were able to include.

I understand that this is the first entry to try something like this, and I'm very excited to see where it goes next. After all, Ubisoft does have a history of expanding on their concepts as the series progresses.

I personally played through the full story and enjoyed what the game had to offer. However, there was nothing about watchdogs that would make me play it again. I had heard about the play as anyone mechanic and was very excited about testing it out, and it is fun; the first 6 hours. After this time period it seems like more of a chore than something special.

I am now playing this game in the Series X, and whilst it looks outstanding with the raytracing, it's not enough for the game to lure me in. I recognize that Ubisoft has made a good game, but the problem with a good game is that nowadays there are too many. And with so many good tittles, it's really the outstanding ones that have moved the standard of what to expect in a video game.

I like watchdogs legion, I just find it forgettable.

He doesn't care that many people were waiting for this game or that people know the difference between GTA series and Watch_Dogs series. Once you figure that out the game is amazing, the story and all the main characters are excellent and the city of London while boring at first really started to grow on me, and while I hate the play as anyone feature I love profiling people and recruiting them to Dedsec and having them chime in on conversations during missions it, makes it so I have a connection with these other operator’s even though I never play as them. The combat isn’t great but fist fighting is pretty fun and stealth can be brutal and fun, hacking is also a big part of the game and the use of drones adds a fun new element to combat and stealth. In conclusion Ubisoft failed at making a "play as anyone game" in my eyes simple because there is zero reason to play as anyone but the spy and hitman for the most part, but aside from that this game is probably my favorite in the series and the story and characters alone are worth the money. Fine enough game, doesn't deserve nearly that bad user score. Wait for sale tho.

Mostly excited for Aiden's dlc, overall it's not very interesting game, but i'm hopeful that it gets better. London is well done tho.

Haters really tried to take this one down huh? lol. It wasn't nearly as bad as this user score, but it's not must buy if you don't care about watch_dogs games.

It's honestly nothing special, but it's not bad either. London looks really good and it's cool to finally see modern London in AAA video game.

This game is solid 7.5, but i have to give it 10 because all these negative reviews who very likely doesn't even have this game. I had enough fun with it, nothing special, but still better than many 2020 games.

Beside the crashes and many bugs, including an audio bug on the Series X version that makes the audio crackle/pop, Watch Dogs Legion is just not a interesting game.

Every playable character in the game, and there are many since you can play as every single person, sounds horrible and acts like a lunatic. The story characters are all uninteresting and their stories end way too quickly.

The game has multiple story lines which kind of feel like a Black Mirror episode. They are sort of appealing but nothing too special.

The gameplay itself might be the most disappointing part of the game. Ubisoft tried something new by letting you play as every character in the city by simply recruiting them. These characters are randomly generated, so most of them have voices that don't fit their face and age. The recruiting missions are all the same. In fact, almost every mission in the game feels the same. Infiltrate a building, hack a computer, finish a puzzle and escape the area. After doing this 15 times, it's just not fun anymore.

I feel like this game is a huge step backwards from the previous games. They got rid of many features and added a few that don't impress me much. Watch Dogs Legion's release date was pushed back by Ubisoft, but I think they should have postponed it again to 2021 because of the many bugs.

This game learned me one thing, and that is to never buy a Watch Dogs game on launch again.

It's "okay". It just feels like another Ubisoft cloned RPG game quick to release with recycled game objectives, rushed acting, and well just quite frankly a boring and not so engaging storyline offered this time around. It does have some nice mechanics, and the game design does work, but Ubisoft didn't hit the mark with this one. London in real life is vibrant, diverse, and engaging. It's "okay". Do not trust the critic reviews. I can see what they were going for... But honestly I can't believe I paid full price for this. There is basically bugger all to do. The play as anyone... Ones that were voiced, but since all you are going for is their clothes and their weapons it's basically just a pointless unrealistic venture. Why not just pinch someone's gun? I love the fact that it's set I. London but.... Everything just seems meh. The plot is... Painful. I get they were going for a bit of comedy, but seriously at least have a go! As an Englishman I also find it a bit of a joke the demographics that this game pushes. But honestly what is there to do in this game? I can't imagine how demoralising it must be to have worked on it. Expand

For the love of god, 300 negative reviews and most of them are either 0's or 1's with short comment like "i'm a loser and hate new games without even trying them". I wish metacritic would FORCE people to show if they own a game and how long they have played it, before they can write actual review. JUST LIKE STEAM DOES. WD Legion is nothing special, but it's nowhere as bad as this userscore.

It's nothing special, but i enjoyed it way more than 2019 Ubisoft games. This idea that some people think it's okay to sht on every new game without even buying it is just bs. Watching some clips from youtube doesn't count. If you haven't played this game at least 5 hours, your review is absolutely meaningless.

Absolutely no crashes or blue screens after 15 hours of gameplay. Game is solid. But AC Valhalla is (by 2020 standards) absolute masterpiece, so i would rather recommend that one.

It's fine game, nothing special, nothing bad. At least city and characters are better than in WD2. I don't even care that much, but i'm giving it 10 just to piss off these haters on this site. I can't stand people like these.

Monótono demais, praticamente a mesma coisa do segundo. Sem falar nos crashs, a cada 10min o jogo crasha e fecha sozinho no Xbox One.

My gripes really stem from the place of being a fan. Anyone entering Watch Dogs: Legion looking for a by the books open world game is going to find a lot to enjoy. There are small puzzles to solve, plenty of collectibles, lots of missions and I would say the shooting and driving are the best this series has ever been. Fans of the series like myself however will be disappointed by the lack of enjoyable characters as well as stand out missions and story beats. With how close Legion is releasing to Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Immortals Fenyx Rising it feels like Watch Dogs: Legion was left to fight for your attention and your money with less money put into development. I would recommend both Watch Dogs 1 & 2 as well as plenty of other Ubisoft experiences from the last few years before Legion at full price.

Ubisoft have done well with this game but if you get frustrated easily I would maybe wait till this game has had a few more updates first before playing it.

It’s a convincing facsimile, which makes trying to save it from Albion and its assorted cronies a more compelling task. And Legion’s big gimmick is that you can play as, well, anyone. Construction workers, lawyers, YouTube stars, retired cage fighters, Anarchists, football hooligans. All are served up by Ubisoft’s smart procedurally-generated trick, each with their own look, background and sometimes even voting record.
