If you're a veteran of the genre, or an old-school player who loved the original, then you'll be very pleased with what's on offer here. Wasteland Remastered on Xbox One is quintessentially an Apple Two/Commodore game re-painted and re-released on a modern day console. It’s very difficult for me to recommend this to any newcomer though, unless they are specifically interested in it from a historical perspective.

Hailing back to 1988, we have the grandfather of Post Apocalyptic America adventures Wasteland, now remastered and set for console! WastelandHailing back to 1988, we have the grandfather of Post Apocalyptic America adventures Wasteland, now remastered and set for console! Wasteland Remastered is the original title with completely reimagined graphics, and only a few tweaks to gameplay such as wording, and terminology (such as brawling is now pugilism on your character sheets). If you were to put the original and remaster side by side you would be able to see each and every item on the map and recognize every location, from buildings to NPCs to terrain. The game also features voice acting now as well. The game is run a lot like a tabletop RPG down to creating your character, rolling their stats, and picking their skills. Wasteland is an Iconic game, that most have lost in the wake of Fallout, which the original game was designed by the same group of developers, as well was the Bards Tale! Wasteland paved the way for a lot of titles to come and now has been given its reward with this shiny new package for its incredible content. For a game that's over 30 years old, it still carries a powerful, gripping story and incredible RPG gameplay. If you're a fan of Post Apocalyptic Dystopian settings, this game is a must. Fans of the original will be overwhelmed with nostalgia. And for those looking forward to playing Wasteland 3, this is where it all started! Full Review »

It is based on a pretty old DOS game but it gives you NO HELP AND NO TIPS ON WHAT TO DO OR HOW TO PLAY!

I read the in-game kind of intro and guide and was like what?! Everyone I tried to interact with did not understand anything I said to them. They only said "What?" to everything which is worthless!

At least, when I used to play DOS games typing HELP would get me a legend or a direction! Anyway, there were 3 objectives to start, I found no way to progress in them. I got into some random battles and never connected with a hit even though my main PC had high strength and fighting and pugilism skills! Well, I guess that is not enough to do 1 point of damage on a rat!

**** What a frustrating experience. I guess they wanted to capture the "charm" of the original but would it have killed the remaster to make ANY concessions so I could play it in 2020?
