This is a fantastic game with an amazing story. The xcom combat is also good and entertaining. It is true that there are quite a few bugs that need to be addressed, but they are not enough to weigh down my overall score.

The 0s are from butthurt babies. The game is fine and is a blast.

If you want a challenge then this the game'

Plays a lot like XCom in a post apocalypse but has just enough unique mechanics to keep it different.

Its not easy but it can be beaten

For a while I've been unhappy with single player rpgs that take years and years to release and then have scaled down on things like builds, player choice and actual roleplaying. Storytelling has taken a nosedive from BioWare as well. So i've been keeping track of smaller studios and i'm really pleased to see such great stuff coming from larian, spiders, obsidian and also inxile studios.

This is my first wasteland game but I'm really loving it. It's fully voice acted, personality traits and perks provide different approaches to both conversation and combat, the characters are well written and charming and there's a huge range of rangers and people you meet that you can recruit. I also appreciate that I can choose from a number of different starting characters with their own traits and backstories.

It's unfortunate it launched in a buggy state but so far all I've experienced are some very minor audio glitches and long loading times. If you can look past that you'll find one of the best rpgs in recent years.

Played it on Xbox series X with backward compatibility. I guess they polished the game a lot because I wasn't experiencing any bugs until the last 10% of the game. The story and writing were brilliant. Difficult choices and no good ones are also appreciated. Combat is super deep and with good balance (all classes have something to offer and it's best to have one of each in a team). HumorPlayed it on Xbox series X with backward compatibility. As someone who's played tons of RPGs, it's extremely satisfying to be able to build a full squad of characters with skills and abilities that complement eachother. I was a fan of Fallout 2 back in the day, and this truly feels like the 2020 evolution of that game.

Wasteland 3 is an incredible game that has one of the best stories I've ever seen the Gameplay is great very X-Comish and there are some pretty bad bugs and overall it's not very good from a technical angel and that is why it's 9/10 instead of 10/10

It's a really fun RPG with a deep setting and story. My favorite part of the game is the way your choices affect the world. It's not as simple as "pick the good dialogue option, get a good result" because sometimes there is no good option. And the soundtrack is subtle but great

It happens about once every time I play. It wouldn't be so bad, except the load times are also long. Every time it crashes it's 3+ minutes to reload on the original xbox one.
That said the actual game is really good. The mechanics are much improved over WL2 which could be very tedious for things like heeling characters.
The voice acting ranges from really good to spot on. It never feels awkward. If anything some of it might be a little over the top, but it's Wasteland. Bringing different characters with you impacts dialog too.
The skill/attribute/perk system scales well as you level.
overall it's well thought out with lots of decisions that can have consequences much later, and in spite of the crashing bug it's definitely worth playing.

    Graphics
    Decisions
Does not feel childish like most games (i am 35)
    Detailed world
Battles (lot of possibilities, can be challanging, at least on hard difficulty) Simplified inventory management (god thinks!)
    Fallout 2!
    Do not like:
    UI feels cheap
    Little bugs in UI

Before you can get back to the thick of it though, you’re tasked with creating a characters or simply choose one of the pre-made character duos to take on your way. In the early stages of Wasteland 3, the narrative and gameplay primarily focus the player’s efforts on building the Ranger Base. This is your main hub in the world and it’s your job to build it up by employing and acquiring the help of strangers throughout the wasteland. Sometimes it’s quite obvious that someone will join you, but I’ve also found that you can be rewarded for going out of your way to help someone. It’s an engaging plot device that weaves both gameplay and narrative together in a way that rewards your engagement. The character customization is deep in Wasteland 3, with each playable character having the ability to specialize across a number of different play styles. Who come with a mix of close quarters melee and ranged attacks. That’s just one character type though and there are plenty of ways to build a team to fit your play style. With my finalized characters I was introduced to the heart of Wasteland 3’s gameplay- the combat of course. If you’ve ever played the previous entries in the series, you’ll know mostly what to expect. For the uninitiated Wasteland 3 plays similarly to the amazing XCOM series. Fights take place across a gridded map, with movement, actions and attacks using the limited amount of AP each character has. Each fight is a balance between aggression, defense and balancing those ability points so you don’t end up leaving a character in a compromised position. Truthfully, it’s a whole lot of fun. It’s not quite as hard as something like XCOM, but I like it a lot for that reason. I found that Wasteland 3 only typically punished me when I made silly mistakes, like running into a battle without considering positioning or standing a little too close to the explosive barrels that litter battlefields. With some clever thinking and a little foresight, you can really give yourself a tactical advantage on the battlefield. At one point I found myself defending a family from a murderous gang (who I’d angered by killing the leader’s brother). By making the decision to gain higher ground with my sniper, I was able to effectively take their gang down with relative ease. It’s in these moments that Wasteland 3 truly shines, providing some of the best turn-based combat I’ve seen so far this year. The stellar combat is only narrowly outshone by the game’s brilliant narrative system. Wasteland 3 uses your decisions to shape the wasteland around you, and this pays off in ways that are both big and small.. There are around ten different endings that you can reach, with some decisions having massive effects on certain portions of the game. Even after half a dozen hours you can already start to see the results of some of your decisions playing out, and you continue to see that impact throughout the game. Dialogue and narrative have always been a core focus of the Wasteland series, but the introduction of voiced dialogue in Wasteland 3 is by far one of the best improvements the game could make. Voiced dialogue adds a new layer of believability, which in turn further immerses you in the world that inXile have created. The solid voice performance mixed with some great writing has made me laugh out loud on more than a few occasions through the game. Moral choices are fairly common in gaming now, but Wasteland 3 distinguishes itself in how it uses them to great effect. It generally presents you with situations and choices that fall within a morally grey area. There are certainly times when it’s obvious who the evil character is, but there are also moments in which you can empathise with all parties involved, ultimately making the decisions so much more difficult. There’s a particularly tough one early on that resulted in me killing an entire group of people due to the actions of their leader, while a later decisions had me choosing between the lives of innocents and my mission to protect a special set of armour to curry favour with the local ruler. Not the greatest moral quandary, but a touch decision nonetheless. I really enjoy the little touches in Wasteland 3. Whether it’s a certain dialogue tree, a random encounter or one of the many side-quests, everything feels completely fleshed out. There’s so much to do and see, and the fact that your presence shapes as much as it does sets a new bar for RPG titles of this nature. Wasteland 3 also features co-op gameplay, to take on the story together, or branch off and forge your own paths through the world. However you play Wastelands 3 is a must have Xbox title. Expand

The locations are much more open than Wasteland 2, with a much better map system and for an Isometric game the graphics are amazing, especially with this games Nuclear Winter setting,

However, my one issue with the game is that even though improved, combat still feels quite random with many of my 95% chance hit constantly missing (although I am playing on hard difficulty).

Still, it's a truly awesome game and a great sequel to the original, and once they fix the hourly crash issue on xbox one it could go down as a classic.

Wasteland 3 is about adapting to a situation and environment while managing a "choose your own story" adventure. While the main story is fairly straight forward, how you experience that story is totally in your hands. This is why I can say that Wasteland 3 is one of the best CRPG games you will ever come across. It provides a depth that would allow you a seemingly infinite way to experience the game without being overly complex and hard to manage and all the while not taking itself too seriously in its delivery. If you want a good RPG there are a ton out there that are a dime a dozen, but if you want one of the best CRPG experiences you can have, then you absolutely have to purchase Wasteland 3.
