At its heart, Wartile is a game about positioning and tactical decision making.

Whether miniatures, strategy games, or deck-building is your thing or not, I highly recommend Wartile because the sum of its parts delivers a unique and fun experience more than each alone. One of the indicators I personally measure when evaluating a game for review is: “Does it call to me when my console is off?”. For Wartile my answer is a hearty “Yes!”.

With its handcrafted aesthetic and unique combat offering a new spin on traditional tabletop battles, Wartile on Xbox One offers up something quite refreshing. Despite the maps not being the biggest there is a lot crammed into them and exploring offers plenty of rewards.

Wartile is a really fun and unique game, if you have it in your sights it won't let you down and if not, you should at least consider it.

It is a massive shame to feel like I can’t enthusiastically endorse Wartile — it has a winning visual style and the seed of a novel idea, but that seed doesn’t bear a fully-formed fruit.

YouWartile is a Tile-Based Strategy RPG with a heavy tabletop feel. This game reminds me of an old Tabletop Strategy game called HeroScape. You would build maps out of Hexagon Tiles and battle miniatures in turn-based strategy. Wartile is set in a world of Norse Mythology, with a very fitting soundtrack to help with the immersion the Hand-Made looking tiles bring. The graphics are amazing, though I understand capturing the feel of Miniatures, there could have been some animations on the Miniatures to accompany the beauty of the rendered terrains. Feeling like your moving Figures around an animated war-table sounds novel to those who play on the table, but the execution was a bit bland. There really wasn't much strategy required, and the story felt like a first-time Dungeon Master who decided to make their own Quest instead of running a pre-made module. The length of the game left a lot to be desired, as the story wasn't any more filling than size of the story. The Characters don't level, instead, you have to gain better gear and abilities to increase your characters strengths. There is so much more that could have been done with this game. A quest maker allowing you to use the tiles, and terrain to create your own adventures would add near endless replayability. The game isn't bad by any means, in fact, it was masterfully designed and will provide a tabletop gamer with a few hours of good fun. Expand
