An excellent first person co-op game, with some spectacularly gory melee combat and a loot box system that’s not nearly as controversial as it might have been.

To my amazement then I was shocked that Warhammer: Vermintinde 2 is better in pretty much all areas and the reason I’m amazed because I didn’t think it was possible to improve over the original so much because the original didn’t get much wrong at all. The combat in the first game was absolutely brilliant, but it’s even better in this game. Everything you do in combat feels like it matters and the best thing is that everything you do when in combat packs a punch and feels very satisfying at all times. One of my very few gripes about the original was that I thought it was lacking a little in terms of variety, but that definitely isn’t the case here. Variety is dotted throughout the gameplay in Vermintide 2 and that’s especially the case when it comes to the game’s fantastic and diverse missions. Be prepared though because some of these missions can be really difficult to complete, but even though the game can be very difficult at times I definitely did relish the challenge. I even enjoyed the challenge when it came to the bosses as well even though fighting the bosses seemed to go on forever. Despite the game’s high difficulty curve I didn’t find myself getting frustrated that much and I think that was mainly down to the game’s co-op elements. Without a doubt playing the game with friends is the best way to enjoy this game because the action remains thrilling and tense throughout and the teamwork aspect keeps things from going dull. This of course then makes the game’s replaybility very high and you won’t be getting bored anytime soon because the game also features plenty of customisation and loot for you to get to grips with. It also features a story for you to follow along the way and the best thing is that this story will keep you invested throughout your time with the game. The presentation side of the game is definitely better in this game over the original and without a doubt both the visuals and sound design have had a tremendous amount of effort placed into them which of course makes things even more immersive. At the end of the day as far as sequels are concerned Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is up there with the very best. It’s took what was so good about the first game and improved it whilst also adding even more features and when everything is said and done I can’t recommend this game enough because its very close perfect in it's genre. The co-op is not mandatory and you can play with 3 bots. The game is divided into Acts and each Act has 4 missions. The missions are not long, around 15 min, and are linear. There are different characters to choose, called "Hero's". Each hero has 3 different "Classes" with a fourth behind DLC. After each mission you get crates that contain loot to upgrade your character. Which gives you a "power level" and your power level determines what difficulty you can play the level on. Basically there is a gear score and the higher your gear score the higher difficulty you can play on. And the difficulty ramps up quick. And of course there are cosmetics you can buy with in game currency. which you gain from challenges. Full Review »

Graphics are great, the balance between the different player types is great. Even the story is great, why did I not find this game until now? A lot of loot and different quests to complete. Its easy to join any co-op game and just start the slaughter. Feels like a AAA title. Worth the money. Full Review »
