    The presentation side of the game was something that I really enjoyed because both the visuals and sound design have a retro and modern touch within them. I enjoyed the story that was present in game because each character feels important in the adventure which keeps things fresh and interesting throughout. There’s quite a lot of content for you to get to grips with and the content has enough variety to keep you coming back for more time and time again. Each mechanic adds something different to the gameplay and I was very impressed by how they implemented each different mechanic.
    I really enjoyed the map editor in the game because it has a decent amount of depth within it and it gives the game even more in terms of replayabilty. The difficulty can be a little problematic at times because it does feel a little unfair every now and then. Some maps in the game can be a little overbearing due to their size and it can take a little too long to complete them. Wargroove was in development for a long while but I knew whatever Chucklefish was doing would make it even more enjoyable in the end, and that’s exactly what they did. From the moment I started the game I loved the retro inspired presentation that was on offer to me and the story that soon followed was not only interesting but it also had characters that were intriguing and without a doubt each character felt important. In terms of gameplay there are a number of different mechanics you have to get used to along the way and they introduce these mechanics at a decent pace so you can learn them at a nice pace without being too frustrated. This is a good thing as well because there is a little bit of frustration present due to the game feeling a little bit unfair at times and also some maps can be overbearing which means it takes quite a while to complete them. Thankfully though these small issues are not much of a problem and you’ll be able to look past them quite easily when you realise just how much varied content there is in the game. At the end of the day then if you’ve been eagerly awaiting Wargroove then I’m sure you’ll fully enjoy what this game brings to the table because not only is it fun and enjoyable for the most part but it also feels unique in several areas which will have you returning back to the game time and time again.    … Expand

    The game is relatively shallow. It is more like a puzzle game. There is just not much room for strategy or tactics being the battles and maps are of a rather small scope and you do not have a lot of options with your units. Second the AI    Most important: UNITS DO NOT GAIN EXPERIENCE!!!
    And they don't level up. Something even Advance Wars had. The two are therefore not really comparable!

The game still has some appeal but it's for sure no game you want to play for hours on end. It's a game I would advice to pick up when it is on sale for no more than 8€.

    Single-Player Score 0/10:
    If I would had to pay only 8€ for it I would give the game a score of 6/10 but because of the asking price of 16€ I can not advise anyone to buy it if you are only interested in the single player portion of the game. Therefore I give it a single player score of 0/10. If there were unit experience implemented I would give this portion of the game a 6/10.

    Multiplayer Score 6/10:
    The multiplayer experience is a bit better because you do at least have a human AI to cope with. Nevertheless the missing units gaining experience thing pulls down the fun with this too. If there were unit experience implemented I would give this portion of the game a 8/10.

    Doesn't have much going for it. The dialogue is very often cringey, it's not even campy or fun like the advance wars games, it's just... bad. The sprites are serviceable, but all the character portraits have these red noses, like they're all alcoholics or something. The game IS very well balanced, but at the cost of not being fun. Battles very quickly transform to "slowly creep forward andDoesn't have much going for it.     This game is amazing deserves everything and more!! game is made with player custom matches in mind game has deep map maker utility YOU CAN MAKE AN ENTIRE CAMPAIGN for you and your friends if you don't like the original story make your own INGAME CINEMATICS JUST LIKE THE DEVS DID FOR THE CAMPAIGN (disclaimer no not the anime cinematic when you start the game that's a little.....deep) you can make just the maps themselves if you want a quick custom game PLUS DOWNLOADABLE PLAYER MADE MAPS AND SHARE YOUR OWN CAMPAIGN AND MAP CHANGE FUNCTIONS OF UNITS. I cannot express how much everything is at your fingertips the creators at chucklefish really do love advance wars and fans of it especially. If i had the money id buy this game twice.    … Expand

    amazing game a high 9/10 on pc/switch but only worth an 8/10 on xbox, maybe less... it takes everything advance wars did and improves on it with editors and far more features one of the best turn based games ever made! its just far worse on xbox than pc or switch, because it lacks portable modes switch has and the mods and free online pc has... xbox just isnt a great platform for gamesamazing game a high 9/10 on pc/switch but only worth an 8/10 on xbox, maybe less... it takes everything advance wars did and improves on it with editors and far more features one of the best turn based games ever made! its just far worse on xbox than pc or switch, because it lacks portable modes switch has and the mods and free online pc has... xbox just isnt a great platform for games like this, so its going to score lower here… Expand

    A great game to play with your friends or by yourself, and making custom maps, or adventures is really cool, if you like rpg's this simple one is defiantly worth a try.

    Juego de estrategia por turnos en donde lo importante es administrar bien tanto tu dinero como tus unidades, en ocasiones las partidas se pueden poner aburridas y monótonas pero es entendible en un juego de estas características, ya que debemos de hacer un buen ejercito antes de atacar y eso necesita tiempo. Me recordó mucho al Advace Wars, el diseño de personajes y la música es muy buenaJuego de estrategia por turnos en donde lo importante es administrar bien tanto tu dinero como tus unidades, en ocasiones las partidas se pueden poner aburridas y monótonas pero es entendible en un juego de estas características, ya que debemos de hacer un buen ejercito antes de atacar y eso necesita tiempo.     I loved Fire Emblem and The Banner Saga, amongst other strategy games, and found this unbearably boring. Please don't buy just because you like strategy games in general. This is literally for people that are already Advance Wars fanboys and absolutely no one else.

    Wargroove goes further than Advance Wars, with a map editor and a more permissive campaign. With a strong gameplay, neat animation and beautiful art, it’s difficult to find any true flaw to Wargroove.
