This is a very fun WW1 game. It's not like battlefield 1 over the top action all the time. It's more trench warfare and slow paced but still very satisfying and immersive. It cost 20€ and there is 4 game modes and a bunch of weapons. The maps are also pretty good. However the controls and overall feel of the game sometimes is s bit awkward but it is a indie game but still worth mentioning. This is a very fun WW1 game. This game is an abomination. When people complain about call of duty or the battlefield series and say how bad they are. Try Verdun and then see if you change your mind. Maybe this game was great on PC because I see how people even on the Xbox and ps4 Metacritic are saying it’s a great game maybe hoping for bug fixes or to smooth it out but wow..this game is really bad. It was on one of those free play weekends so I didn’t have nothing to lose trying it. I went on optimistic. How hard is it these days to make a FPS game especially in the world war era. Apparently this must be a new company who have no optimization skills because not only is the gameplay choppy but the game is a hot mess. It’s like they just put it on console and hoped for the best or maybe fool people into a few sales. Well they won’t get my money..what a bad game. Next time I think the call of duty or battlefield series are sucky..I’ll remember Verdun and thank god im playing quality. Expand

Verdun, a game I previously covered on this site for PS4. The Xbox version is, I must say a step up from that of the PS4 due to a healthy delay in which the game could have only been nurtured further for the good of long geverty. This is good, the Devs held the game back to benefit its initial launch.

I digress as there are a few odd hiccups which are not game breaking, some enemies may

The Xbox version is, I must say a step up from that of the PS4 due to a healthy delay in which the game could have only been nurtured further for the good of long geverty. This is good, the Devs held the game back to benefit its initial launch.

I digress as there are a few odd hiccups which are not game breaking, some enemies may be textureless and just pink or white and even then when I confronted Mike Hergaarden (A Verdun Dev) about the bug he responded stating the bug had been fixed and a patch is on the way which I'm assuming will contain the Scottish troops or 'lady's of hell'.

As far a players, there are plenty of matches to be found on the US and EU server browsers with a total of 2,000 players between them, the PS4 had a mere fraction of this upon release back in August last year with around 100 and a peak of 400 players.

It's clear that the Xbox one version has attracted quite a sizeable community, and a passionate one at that, it's not surprising for its not often we get a pc to console port quite as good as this one seeing as most companies make a port, make their money then leave with little to no post launch content/patches *cough* valve *cough*
In fact we received all past content that the pc players had received prior to console release such as the horrors of war update which goes to show these developers were keen on giving us a full experience.

Lastly let's talk game modes/maps, there are 4 game modes 2 of which are just fps standards like team deathmatch and free for all, then there's the juicy ones, the reasons you buy this game, squad defence and frontlines, frontlines being a typical ww1 scenario with both sides fighting for trenches in a tug of war affair and squad defence being a mode in which you and a squad of 3 others fend off against large quantities of enemies In waves and may I say it makes you feel like a total badass war veteran especially when you and your squad are mowing down enemies inside your trench while you cover each other and move asa group.

So if you're sick of generic boring shooters and space energy laser phazer ass beams, come along and join the fight, especially if you're a history buff like me, you'll love the authentic ww1 weaponry and the loading screen trivia. A must have for any shooter fan and with a long forseeable future of active players and new content!
See you in the dugouts with your Enfield 303s!

It Is Just A Copy of The PS4 Verdun, If You Ask Me, I Would Not Play This Game. It Is Just A Ripoff In My Personal Opinion And That Is All I Know, This Game Is Just, A Disappointment

While I will by start by stating that the there is a texture issue that occurs meaning players turn to pink and white texture other than that the game really does't have to many glitches. It not the most beautiful looking game but it does capture the sense of ww1. It provides decent game play with front-line modes and also a horde mode. It quite a few maps from iconic ww1 battles. It not the most beautiful looking game but it does capture the sense of ww1. It provides decent game play with front-line modes and also a horde mode. It quite a few maps from iconic ww1 battles. It also includes many realistic ww1 guns and unit types. It has the most gun from the ww1 period ever included in a ww1 game. Period. Where the game where shines is the squad based gameplay working with your squad using different roles to infiltrate an enemy trench is very satisfying. The gun play is realistic with one shot rifle kills some players might get turned of by the 'hardcore' gameplay and lack of HD. It takes abit of time to get used to as it is simplistic to what some people would be used to. It not your stardard 'Cod' game and you will end up dead alot but once you improve and start killing people yourself it very fun. There is turns of things to unlock with in squad it makes to a good system of unlocking different gun and load outs to use in games.

I can't really fault this game other than the missing textures and slight lack of polish. But as I picked the game up for round about £10 I really can't complain. I am sure the developers will offer a patch soon as well. I would like to remind people that this isn't a AAA game and it does't coast the same as a AAA game either

Although there is less action than in other World War One video games, the experience is nonetheless quite immersive. It features a lot of intricate features, so if you have the money, I would suggest you give it a shot.

If you're itching to play Verdun, then the PC version is the only way to go. A healthy online community and good performance mean that there's always a game going on with people who know what they're supposed to be doing. On the Xbox One, that's not the case. Problematic presentation aside, there aren't enough people around to keep the games interesting, and the weapons unlock system doesn't seem to function correctly all the time. It may be the more realistic title when compared to Battlefield 1, but none of that matters when other factors make this a title that you should avoid unless you're willing to put in the time to learn the ins and outs of the system, provided the community sticks around.

Unfortunately, when all of the issues stack up—the snail's pace gameplay, the graveyard-quiet servers, the small player base, the not-very-good server connections, the flat and lifeless sound design, and the futility of trying to play a squad-based game when most people just want to go for kills—it makes it kind of hard to recommend Verdun on Xbox One.

If you want to destroy your good old WWII memories, Verdun is your choice. Poor artistic and technical graphics, countless technical problems, frustrating gameplay, server issues, boring and without any creativity.
