Ultimate Fishing Simulator fails its own title, being very far away from a fishing simulator, let alone the ultimate one. Bad U.I., unsatisfying fishing mechanics, totally unbalanced accessory and bait costs and several technical problems leave very little to be praised, like the good underwater camera.

Ultimate Fishing Simulator has its share of flaws, but it’s the constant grind that really sinks this game.

There’s not really many ways of sugar coating it; this game is a mess on Xbox One and isn’t worth your time. Surely any other fishing game would be worth considering if you have that urge.

There are much better fishing games than Ultimate Fishing Simulator, and my strong advice is that if you want to go fishing on Xbox One you look elsewhere first.

There is so much tackle to choose from in this game, as well as several ways to go fishing. You'll start the game by choosing if you want to play normal, or in realistic mode. The main difference is in Realistic mode you don't have some of the features, and fish bite less often and fight longer. The main missing feature between the two is the underwater view you can access while fishing, giving you a front-row seat to your lure or bait. The graphics feel a tiny bit dated, but it doesn't detract from the fun or the overall beauty of the scenery. The music is off, it doesn't feel like you should be fishing. It just feels out of place to me, so I turned it off fairly early. Once I turned the music off I was met with the incredible ambient sounds, that make me feel like the music was put there because they felt it had to be. The fishing is fairly standard. If you use the underwater camera a bobber and bait it feels like it would wait for ages for you to strike and start the process of fighting. If you're using a lure the strike is instant as the fish grabs the lure. Fighting the fish is great, but I felt like the fish ran out of steam way too quick in Normal Mode, and it took forever to get a bite in realistic mode. You can also Flyfish, and Icefish adding a new degree to the standard fishing game. Overall the game is a fun and refreshing trip to the fishing hole. Full Review »
