The story follows two pilots as they navigate through a wormhole to locate NASA’s generation ships that have gone missing in interstellar space. The various levels in Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure are also not what you would expect from a traditional brick-breaker. The ability to control both Greetings and Salutations as paddles is already a major twist on a time-tested formula. Ironically, this recurring issue is exacerbated by the replayability of the many different modes in Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure. The Pong Mode, Marathon Mode, Boss Rush Mode, and more make for fun distractions from the main experience. They can be great fun, especially at the start, but it is best to enjoy them in short bursts. Overall it's rare refresh of the brick-breaking genre, Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure is a love letter to fans and less so for everyone else that may not be a fan of the genre you may want to spend your money elsewhere. However I am a huge fan of of the genre and I have no problem recommending this well priced, classic hat tip for Xbox One gamers to add to their library. Expand

While the brick breaker genre is about as old as gaming itself, Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure still brings fresh ideas to the fold, making it an enjoyable, challenging time. That there is so much time and effort invested in the story in commendable, though I didn’t get as invested in that as it seems Colin would like players to be. There are plenty of levels to try and best, with high score challenges, a new game+ mode, and several alternate modes as well to supplement the 3 hour or so main game. Fans of Colin, and Sacred Symbols especially, will enjoy the various references dotted though out as well.

Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure on Xbox One takes the rotten core of a blockbreaker game and straps on a cracking story, great music, boss battles and some new approaches. But that rotten core still stinks, and you’ll get a whiff every now and again, as the infuriation and the tedium seep through. If you’re a Sacred Symbols fan, or you’ve still got love for games like Arkanoid, it may be just enough to warrant a purchase.
