I don't regret playing it, and there are some clever things you can try that the game will respond to. Still, it could have done with a fast forward to certain segments button. It's worth a playthrough on GamePass but I wouldn't buy it, and I say that as someone who was really looking forward to this. Expand

I commend the performances of James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley and Willem Dafoe. These are amazing actors who have delivered unforgettable portrayals in their careers. With all that being said, I struggled to actually enjoy playing it. The gameplay and puzzles are too frustrating than they need to be. Even for a point-and-click puzzle game, your actions feel too restricted and linear in an already claustrophobic space. I can't recall how many times I wanted to do something, with the utmost confidance that it could work, when the game simply wouldn't let me experiment with my own ideas for different outcomes. This is twice in a row I didn't really like a "time loop" game either, so maybe these also just aren't for me. I find them obnoxiously tedius. Expand

12 minutes gets a pass for the atmosphere, the mystery, the unreal plot twist and the good voice acting. However, this game also suffers from 'the pre-defined path'. However, this game also suffers from 'the pre-defined path'. Where you have enough space in the beginning to unlock new parts to discover the mystery, later in the story there are less (and missing) options for your own input. In fact, you have to follow the exact path that the developer has mapped out. It therefore no longer feels like your own story. Many unnecessary loops are the result and there is a big chance that you will have to look up how to advance the story at all. Still, the story is good enough to get a payoff that makes it worth your trouble.

    Pros:
    - Atmosphere - Sound design
    - Voice acting
    - Story and plot twist

    Cons:
    - Pre-defined path that results in many unnecessary loops
    - Hard to find ways to advance the story on your own
    - Missing options to experience with that would have been logical within the story

Good game with great voice acting and music.
I hope such games will be made in more detail.

Minor irritations aside, I can't fault Twelve Minutes for its ambition. Luis Antonio has set out to tell the kind of story that can only truly be told in a video game, offering up a tense and often deeply unsettling interactive thriller that succeeds in breathing new life into the point-and-click adventure genre. I can say with certainty that the story and its potential outcomes won't be for everyone, but you'll be left chewing over what happened hours after the credits roll.

Twelve Minutes show us why video games are a powerful medium to tell stories that cinema cannot. With great voice acting, outstanding creative decisions and original mechanics, Twelve Minutes is everything mystery games enthusiasts could ask for.

Twelve Minutes plays like an escape room on extra hard difficulty and with higher stakes. As an intriguing albeit small-scale thriller with many twists and turns that can sometimes be frustrating, ending the time loop is ultimately somewhat worth the effort.
