Trials of the Blood Dragon may have come out of nowhere, but it does a hell of a lot to command your attention.

A great game which builds upon the excellent Trials gameplay and adds more layers to it to offer a compelling experience. I just wish the shooting and platforming mechanics were tighter and that the Trials motorcycling gameplay was as strong as the mechanics offered in Trials Fusion.

Redlynx's Trials serie meets, actually crashes, with the Far Cry's Blood Dragon style. The results are totally rambling, hurray!

A nice mash-up between Trials and Blood Dragon's 80s parody, but it feels a bit short in content for the price it's sold at.

As far as the presentation goes, the game is an absolute treat. You will most likely find yourself laughing throughout despite some of the mediocre mechanics at play here. If you want my honest opinion, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a much better game. If you had to pick between the two, I would go with that one. But, Trials is definitely a serviceable sequel if you want to find out the conclusion to the epic tale of Rex “Power” Colt.

Much like you'd see in a seedy 1980s movie, Trials of the Blood Dragon is like a pretty good first hit of a drug. The buzz is short and mostly enjoyable, but it's so different that you might get hooked on the series.

The style is fun and gameplay is somewhat diverse. If you look beyond the colourful lights and shiny colours though, there's not much more than a fairly basic (and easy!) Trials game with a Blood-Dragon skin.

A fun but short Trials experience that manages to offer something different and unique, but falls flat on the amount of content offered. Besides that, it's an enjoyable game while you are driving a vehicle, but it's not as fun when you are on foot.

Trials of the Blood Dragon is a bit hit and miss, some of the gimmicks work while other frustrate and fall entirely flat. Whilst die-hard Trials fans will have preferred to have had a more pure experience one can only hope this is just a way of keep the series in gamers consciousness.

It’s far from bad and that’s frustrating because you can see it achieve great heights — it just doesn’t do it as often as it could if they fine-tuned the concept instead of trying to throw everything into the stew at once.

Making your way through this slapdash game is a trial.

Trials of the Blood Dragon continues the storyline from where Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon ended. If you’re driven to find out what happens next to Rex Power Colt and his two kids, Roxanne and Slayter, it looks like you’re buying this game. You won’t hate it, and the charm of the presentation is enough to keep you moving forward, just don’t expect it to be the thrill that other Trials games have been able to deliver.

With 30 levels, too few of them being actual trials and too many being stupid platforming, Trials of the Blood Dragon seems nothing more than an attempt at showing off what a few developers could do after getting drunk and watching 80 action movies and Saturday morning cartoons. The disappointing thing is this could have been so much better by simplifying the concept and making it a DLC map pack for Trials Fusion.

Part ‘80s love letter, part Trials game, part mash-up of new and mostly terrible play styles.

The best thing to come out of Trials of the Blood Dragon is that we get a continuation of the Blood Dragon story and a setup for a possible proper sequel. Other than that, it's a forgettable jumble of things that don't live up to either the Trials or the Blood Dragon names. It's kind of ironic that Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is one of the best-executed novel gimmicks in recent memory, because taking that idea and tweaking it to a new extreme has made Trials of the Blood Dragon one of the worst.

This fusion of the two videogames is a total disaster where there are no improvements and there are a lot of issues. The “walking system” in this game is the worst we have seen in the recent years.

Ditches tricks for a succession of lame ideas that don't belong anywhere near a biking game. [Sept 2016, p.87]

Why Trials of the Blood Dragon exists, we have no idea… it’s quite clearly one of the worst games I have played, ever, and is a game with no redeeming qualities. Save your money, folks, this one is a stinker.

Not what i was expecting from a trials game. The levels are not as good as in the previous games and the story is bad.

horrible. With the cringy dialogue, annoying characters, and SO MUCH POTENTIAL this game is a true let down, amplified if you've playedhorrible. With the cringy dialogue, annoying characters, and SO MUCH POTENTIAL this game is a true let down, amplified if you've played previous Trials games. The motorbike levels (what trials is known for) are drab, and the "platforming levels" are enough to push you over the edge of losing interest. Full Review »
