Tour de France 2018 comes after a very forgettable predecessor, so its job isn’t easy. But its Pro Team mode is bigger than ever, the Pro Leader mode is compelling and its AI has improved. It still needs more polishing though.

If you love cycling and you're used to the kind of team tactics needed in such races, Cyanide's new game will surely satisfy you. Don't expect a standard sports game though, as it's more akin to a tactical RPG/management game. On the downside, we get very forgettable graphics and improvable multiplayer modes.

If you haven’t yet played a Tour game, and are a massive cycling fan who is slowly being gripped by the hype, then this may just appeal. But even then, it’s still a hard sell.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t really dislike them it’s just that I get the feeling that I’ve seen most of what the game has to offer in a brief amount of time. That being said I have noticed each game has had a few improvements placed into them and in a way each game is like a work in progress, but ultimately each game that enters the series just has too many problems and in the end the improvements get left behind. Tour de France 2018 is basically like last year’s game which I did enjoy at times but in my opinion I still don’t think they’ve done enough to bring new fans to the table. Once again there is plenty of content for you to get to grips with and when you first play each mode that’s available to you there is quite a bit of enjoyment to be had. Unfortunately though after a short amount of time you start to realise that each mode lacks in variety and in the end things start to become quite repetetive. Repetetiveness is the game’s biggest problem because some races seem to go on forever and in the end they do become a slog to complete. I will say though that they’ve done a good job as far as the technichal side of the game goes and you will not bump into many if any problems at all, which is always a good thing. Another thing they’ve done a good job with is in regards to the tutorial it delivers to you. Thanks to the tutorial I went into playing the game feeling pretty confident and that’s a good thing because the game can be quite difficult from time to time. The controls aren’t difficult or anything like that it’s the strategy elements that are difficult because winning a race requires a lot of different methods. Despite the strategy elements being a pain at times I actually quite enjoyed them though because there is no better feeling than winning a race you’ve invested quite a lot of time and effort into. One of my biggest gripes about the game is its presentation. Visually the game doesn’t do much and can look quite ugly at times and whilst the sound design can be good there isn’t much that really stands out, which is a shame. At the end of the day once again I can only recommend Tour de France 2018 to people who actually enjoy these type’s of game’s. The main reason why I can’t recommend to other people is because there just isn’t anything new and it pretty much feels the same as last year’s game. That being said it does get quite a few things right as well I just feel that the series is a little bit stale now and needs something new invested into it. Expand

I hope to see this game adding this game options in a future version of the Tour de France Game. Thanks! Expand
