    This is a very good action adventure game. With puzzles, great shooting mechanics and tons of explorable areas , this game will keep you busy for quite a while. BUT WHAT I CANNOT UNDERSTAND, is why you would buy this game if you previously had it. It is the SAME GAME. Those who bought it again and are complaining about a lack of innovation are idiots.     The graphics and the level design are superb but I do think the gameplay did get a little repetitive at some parts such as the shanty-town fight or fighting waves of enemies towards the final section of the game.

    However those damn QTEs are horrible.     This game is an incredible adventure. It nails the gameplay, story, and environment. Everything totally immerses you. It is one of the most beautiful (not realistic necessarily) games I have played on the xbox one. The campaign is, in my opinion, nearly flawless, although it doesn't really stretch any boundaries. Plus, the "open world" after you finish the campaign has little fun to offer.This game is an incredible adventure. It nails the gameplay, story, and environment. Everything totally immerses you.     I've been a big fan of Tomb Raider since I was a little kid. Specifically, Tomb Raider II was the one I grew up with the most. I'd like to revisit those old TR games soon but for now, let's talk about the reboot. Now, I haven't played any Uncharted games to completion so I'm not exactly sure how similar this game is to those ones but if they're as similar as people say, I gotta check outI've been a big fan of Tomb Raider since I was a little kid. Now, I haven't played any Uncharted games to completion so I'm not exactly sure how similar this game is to those ones but if they're as similar as people say, I gotta check out Uncharted. I thoroughly enjoyed this game. It had some really fun platforming, rewarding puzzles, a decent story and most importantly of all, a sense of care. What I mean by that is how the player, at least me personally, cares for Lara. This poor girl gets her ass handed to her repeatedly, going through hours and hours of constant abuse and you just want to help her get out of this situation. You want to see her succeed, you want her to live to tell this tale. I think that's always been a big part of Tomb Raider ever since the original, even if it isn't often spoken about. Now, nothing about the game was groundbreaking. The action was decent, but a little heavy in my opinion. For the most part, I had a lot more fun solving puzzles and hopping around than I did shooting cult members. The game also reeks of 2013. What I mean by this, is the game has so many outdated mechanics and tropes that were very common at the time. Cover based shooting, hunting and crafting, a "tell me where to go" button, a tacked on multiplayer mode, skill trees and upgrades systems galore... you name it, if it was a trope from 2011-2013, Tomb Raider has it. Not to mention, the game is filled to the brim with explosive barrels.. I like that trope though and it's way older than the late 360 era.

    Anyway, despite the outdated features, the core game was really enjoyable and a very pleasant surprise overall. I especially enjoyed playing it even more after turning on the Philharmonic's compilation of music from the first three TR games called The Tomb Raider Suite. Really put me in that mood. I would've liked some more tombs to raid, but I hear there's more of that in the sequels. I look forward to beating them very soon.

    Excelente game. Wonderfull scenario. Amazing music and soundtrack. I'm really impressed. Worth every peny. It is a exciting game from the beggining to the end.

    I absolutely love this game. The graphics improvement is beautiful and the game itself is one for the ages. It's absurd that people are upset that the price of this is $59.99... Battlefield 4 is for all 4 last/current gen consoles and the price was static across them all. It's a AAA title on the newest gen consoles and it's spectacular for people like me who DIDN'T PLAY IT ON 360 OR PS3.I absolutely love this game.     Tomb Raider on Xbox 360 was great. With a noticeable facelift and extra DLC on Xbox One, it is even better. This is a great origin story with a bit of grit instead of polish. This isn't your old-school Tomb Raider but a survival experience on an island with dangerous enemies and a bit of a supernatural sense. I loved Tomb Raider on 360 and I've picked it up again because the game was soTomb Raider on Xbox 360 was great. With a noticeable facelift and extra DLC on Xbox One, it is even better. This is a great origin story with a bit of grit instead of polish. This isn't your old-school Tomb Raider but a survival experience on an island with dangerous enemies and a bit of a supernatural sense. I loved Tomb Raider on 360 and I've picked it up again because the game was so good I wanted to experience it with the extras. In short, the additional content isn't enough to make players who've already bought the 360 version want to upgrade (especially for the price), and isn't enough to change my review score for the normal "last-gen" edition as well. However, I must admit it does look wonderful on Xbox One, the slightly updated additions of DLC tombs and gear are interesting, and maybe once it drops to half price or less, others who aren't complete newcomers to the game will actually consider upgrading. All in all, a fine game and a worthwhile buy- moreso if you haven't already played the game, but great nonetheless.… Expand

    I didn't play this game on 360 or ps3, so it was brand new to me when I picked it up for X1. I was very pleasantly surprised by this game. The movement and combat is extremely fluid, the graphics are fantastic, the story isn't amazing but it works. All in all, I would highly recommend this game, and I'm really looking forward to future installments in this franchise. Great game!!

I was more than pleasantly surprised and hated not having when it was time to get rid in order to fund my Xbox One.     One of the best action adventure games this far. Camera, moving and shooting works a lot smoother than in Uncharted 3 or older Tomb Raider games and story itself is great.

    I have played this game before for PS3 and Xbox 360 so it's just same game with different looking Lara, better graphics and all DLC's included. While i played Xbox One version of this game i had problems with some    One of the best action adventure games this far. Kinect in this game is pretty much useless because it's faster to change weapons from d-pad than say "shotgun" or something else like that.

    Let me just say how surprised i was how good this game was! I was blow away by how good the story was and tombs were fun puzzles. Check out the making of the game videos. The women who played Laura for the motion capture is gorgeous!!!! For an Xbox only guy it's great to have an action adventure game to play since the uncharted games are Sony exclusives. My only disappointed is I wish theLet me just say how surprised i was how good this game was! I was blow away by how good the story was and tombs were fun puzzles.     If you've already checked out Tomb Raider than you already know: the game is awesome. Like, really awesome. It's not a perfect (none re) and it probably could have done without the multiplayer, but by and large Tomb Raider brings Lara Croft back with a bang. Square avoids falling into the trap of being a Uncharted clone, and offers up an origin story that treats Lara with respect and sets the Franchise to be one to watch.     Game was so good that i played it non stop for 8 hours. Lol. Amazing storyline . You play it like a movie. If you are a fan of such games then you will just enjoyed as much as i did. And Lara is really hot :D

    Apparently you don't actually have to have played a game in order to write a review. The negative reviews on here are not helpful at all. I have played the game on 360, and I have never played it on XBO but if it's the same game but prettier, then it should get the same rating despite the price. If this game was $400 and it wouldn't change the score.

    Amazing port to the X1 I would say it's a must buy. Fantastic story, gameplay, graphics, atmosphere make this a must buy. Multiplayer is also very fun, surprisingly. Can be challenging which isn't seen much anymore. My one grip is that it does feel a tad long. Overall it's a must buy.

    just to make it clear, i have never played a Tomb Raider game before this one. when it came out for the 360 i just went meh and left it. i saw it cheaply for xbox one and i just decided to see if it was good. i was amazingly surprised how much i enjoyed it.

    Pros: good gameplay, likable characters, competent story, and Lara no longer a slut. Cons: Lara's voice actress is awful and the    just to make it clear, i have never played a Tomb Raider game before this one. when it came out for the 360 i just went meh and left it. i saw it cheaply for xbox one and i just decided to see if it was good. i was amazingly surprised how much i enjoyed it.

    But this game looks amazing on current Generation of Consoles. Controls are just as crisp gameplay and story are excellent. This would have sold more if they had lowered the price a tad or done a discount to those who already owned the 360 version.     The only complaint with the game on the One is all the glitches that cause issues with achievements. These were not present in the 360 version and months later still have not been fixed. Requiring you to replay the game or delete your save and start all over again to get the achievements.    … Expand

    With amazing new visuals and all of the DLC already installed on the disc, this is without a doubt the definitive version of the game. If you've never played the game before then this is the way to do so. However if you HAVE played it before then this is a much harder sell. The touched up graphics are all it really has to offer for returning players. The DLC content only adds one new and very short optional tomb to explore and some costumes for Lara. The rest of the extra content is for the subpar multiplayer mode.

    So how does it hold up as a gameplay experience? This reboot takes the series in a new direction. It's a noticeable combination on Uncharted and Rocksteady's Batman games. As a result it is pretty familiar, but nonetheless thrilling. Especially since it manages to rival those games in several areas. Gaining new items that allow you to access new areas and find new treasures is still an addictive loop. Platforming Prince of Persia style is still a blast after all these years and the gunplay is on point with it's upgradeable arsenal. The more you do the more you can upgrade Lara with new abilities. Mix in the awesome set pieces and the single-player stays fresh throughout.

    The story backing up the single-player is also a new take for the series. It's a gritty survival story. One that doesn't shy away from brutality. The characters are fantastic and well acted. The only issue I have with the writing is that Lara comes off as rather dumb. It takes her forever to pick up on the oh so obvious scenario she's stuck in that anyone else would have picked up on ages ago. You'll know what's going on WAY before she does and that's kind of frustrating.

    The single-player portion of the package is fantastic. The multiplayer on the other hand, not so much. It's just to bland and generic. You'll unload a full clip into a player one time only to have them drop in two or three shots the next. Even with all of the extra DLC content, you aren't likely to stick with this experience for long.

    It's a mostly excellent game now brought to life by some of the most stunning graphics seen on consoles thus far. The extra content is appreciated, but ultimately not enough to entice returning players to part with their money unless they just need to experience the upgraded graphics. The game has the replay value to justify it I suppose. For new players though it's a no brainer to pass up the last gen versions of the games for what truly is this "definitive edition."

    The fact that the PS4 version came out a little better in the framerate department doesn't change how great this game is on any platform or version. It's a 10/10 game on the PC, PS3, XBox 360, PS4 and XB1. If the price isn't good for you, wait for it to drop.

    I bought this game for Xbox One because there are not so much titles you can buy right now for this platform. I must say I was a little bit scared, because this is my first Tomb Raider game and I had no plan what is waiting for me in this game.
    I must say, that this is a very good game, maybe the best I played since last summer. Maybe not because graphics, I think the Xbox One could do a    I bought this game for Xbox One because there are not so much titles you can buy right now for this platform. I must say I was a little bit scared, because this is my first Tomb Raider game and I had no plan what is waiting for me in this game.
    I must say, that this is a very good game, maybe the best I played since last summer. Maybe not because graphics, I think the Xbox One could do a lot more than this. But the storyline and the gameplay is in my opinion very great, you can play offensive and also "defensive". The AI is challenging if you play on hard i think and also the discoverable objects, which give you more story background are well done.
    Of course, it's a remake of an Xbox360-Version, so I wouldn't buy this for Xbox One if I had bought the game for Xbox360.
    All in all my opinion:
    + Good story plot
    + Well told story
    + Well AI for every type of gamer
    + Nice gameplay
    + Quite good graphics...
    - ...but for "Next-Gen" not enough

I bought the definitive edition because I am an XONE owner and we are all desperate for new games.     Fantastic game. Some very interesting puzzles and climbing mechanics. Loved it when I fired up my second playthrough to find all the treasure I missed the first time ... and finally maxed out all my weapons.

    Though I enjoyed the Uncharted games, this beats them all for look, feel, and how I was engrossed for hours at a time.

    I will definitely be getting Rise of the Tomb Raider!

    Tomb raiders reboot was an action packed adventure that i did like with all that u can collectables and attatchments that you can equip my only down side was the lengh and the multiplayer the campain was good i was just arging for more then around 8 hours and the multiplayer wasnt a very strong point which was a down side as i player online 24/7

    But how on earth do they dare say it is a whole new experience ? Is it because there is a speaker in the PS4 controller ? Because on some climbing scenes, you can control the camera or examine relics with Kinect ? I won't even bother mentioning the useless voice commands...

    Now, if you really want to compare the XB1 and PS4 versions. Well... The XB1 version is a joke. I'm sure it could have been technically improved. Because the game is broken, multiplayer is unplayable, and noticeable framerate drops happen. This is not because the console is of lower performances, but the reason is it has been optimized like mixing beef jerky in a Nutella sandwich. PS4 version is okay, but still under what a high-end PC can provide.

    The thing is... For those who played the PC version, just don't bother. Seriously. And for the people who did it on X360/PS3, you can definitely wait for its price to drop. Don't allow the editors to get away with this. I came to finish it for achievements, and returned it right away. This version at full price is for you gamers who never EVER played it before.    … Expand

    I loved Tomb Raider series! They were best. BUT this one is HORRIBLE! Tomb Raider is RUINED because of that game! And even if you exclude Tomb Raider basic idea and everything and you will look it just simople ordinary game - this game will be still really really really bad! Do not waste your money!

If you explicitly play the game as close to a stealth shooter as you can, trying for 0 fatalities except when there is no other choice, the game still requires that you kill 400+ people. And that just feels wrong. I wish the game had allowed for a Thief style 'no blood on your hands' method of play. I get that the tomb raider has guns. It has always been part of the series, but it got cranked up to 11 here and I think it detracts from the best things about the game.    … Expand

I really like the reinvention of Lara Croft as more of a human being and less of an already established hero. You see Lara go through struggles in the game and escape by the skin of her teeth making the excitement that much better. I have nothing bad to say about the game therefore 10/10.    … Expand

    Ryse of Rome + God of War + Resident Evil 5 = This. Where's the "Tomb Raider"? 30fps QTE fest with garbage shooting. If you want the best console version get the PS4 (which runs at 60fps - yep the XB1 is lagging *that* far behind already), but I'd just pass.

    I hated so much this game, i was hyped by the reboot but it has nothing to do with a tomb raider game. No tropical/luxurious/antique sites, no puzzles, no adventure...just a generic/boring TPS, just "ouch, ouch i take a stick in my womb and fall every 10 seconds but can still walk, run etc." and "bam bam tatata bang" worse than a COD. I don't get all the hype for this game.

    If you like your games being interrupted by cut-scenes every ten minutes and endless quick time events, then this game is for you.

    You may also like this game if you enjoy the Eagle Vision of the Assassins Creed games but wish it was next to useless.

    The game may have been more interesting if it had stayed a little closer to it's roots, of you know, raiding tombs.

    I never really liked this type of game but when I saw it for free through xbox gold I thought, ya why not. Great game!! First day I nearly missed work because I couldn't turn it off!! Very surprised at the game play and it is a great storyline.

    I confess that sometimes you have to forget that the Lara Croft you played in Play 1 is the same that you play in that game, but, is still a very nice game to play, with good graphics and some hours of good fun.

    Amazing game. Hands down the game of the year the year it was released. I had so much fun playing this game and have rebooted Lara Croft is by far an improvement in the old Lara on so many levels.

    Right amount of collectibles to hunt in the game
    Flame and torch effect was neat

    Cons-
    Small/boring tombs with no puzzles/traps
    Repetitive human enemies
    Lack of deadly wildlife (only wolves)
    Weird sideways looking animation when walking straight
    Combat was epic but it became a waaaay overkill by the end
    Pointless XP system and limited scope of role play/upgrades
    Lara takes way too long to work out the reason for Sam's capture

    Despite the obvious flaws in the game structure it was a blast to play and stands head and shoulders above the follow up games in many ways. Thumbs up Crystal Dynamics.

    Game Content- 8 out of ten.

    On appelle ça du "contenu" chez Squaredaube, ouais ouais ouais. Mais attention, le jeu est quand même plus joli que sur 360 malgré quelques ralentissements tout de même : un portage des plus suspects puisque les cinématiques tombent en 900p et que globalement, le jeu ne parvient pas à maintenir un 30 im/s stable. Ce qui tient d'une réelle incompétence pour un tel jeu-couloir scripté.

    Un couloir plus ou moins large il est vrai, rempli de petites conneries à ramasser (il faut bien remplir) et bardé de scripts et de QTE aussi aberrants qu'improbables. L'espèce d'histoire n'en est pas une mais ce n'est pas bien grave dans un jeu de ce genre, car on se contrefout des jérémiades de la petite connasse, toujours à geindre et à se plaindre. Il faut dire que l'humour est totalement absent, contrairement à la série des Unchartiep, ce qui n'aide pas non plus.

    Pour le reste, les combats sont presque acceptables mais impliquent encore des QTE (coups de grâce) et les possibilités d'infiltration se révèlent très limitées au final. Le pire dans tout cela si on fait abstraction de la bêtise de l'ensemble (niaiserie et clichés inclus) réside dans l'immense ennui qui nous accapare d'un bout à l'autre de ce jeu pop-corn linéaire et ridicule... pour autant qu'on tienne jusqu'au bout.    … Expand

    Well made and unique design. Fun tombs and a great although rushed at first story. It definitely has room for improvement (Rise of The Tomb Raider greatly did so) but is challenging puzzle-wize enough to keep you going,

    This is the closest you're going to get to Uncharted on Xbox. At least I think, I've never played those. Tomb Raider Definitive Edition is a gripping while somewhat predictable story. Certainly lacks substance when it comes to multiplayer because most of the games combat elemets are on the clunky side. BUY.

    Creo que es la primera vez que me aventuraba de lleno dentro de un juego de Tomb Raider, ya en antaño habia jugado alguna en trega para la PSx de la cual ya no recuerdo, pero me a dejado gratamente sorprendido la dinamica de los niveles, disparos, e interrogantes dentro del juego que a medida que habanzas se van aclarando. Es un juego interesante tanto por el contenido como por sus graficos

    Incredible, the game unites adventure and action in a new way! Lara shows her strength and has grown in history! The fluid gameplay, the beautiful graphics and arts, the fantastic soundtrack and the story are very good!. There are more 40 hours for complete the 100% of the game in hard mode, and I liked so much!!, I didn't tired and there are still 18 achievements for me.

    This game kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time. Heart rushing action. First time playing a Tomb Raider game and it was amazing. There are areas of the game where I feel like I"m rambo and it does get hard cuase you have to kill 50 guys before you advance to the next area, but overall it's great.

    The graphics are good, sounds and music excellent. Well-written characters and excellent storyline.

"Лара, я видел катастрофу, значит ты где-то рядом" - сказал один из персонажей игры и таким образом подвел красную черту под всем, что происходит с главной героиней где бы она ни была. Потому как за Ларой, в процессе прохождения Tomb Raider, тянется след из трупов и руин от начала и до конца игрового действа. Если она не сражается с толпой недружелюбно настроенных юнитов, то значит скачет по разрушающимся прямо у нее под ногами строениям, а то и всё сразу и одновременно. Tomb Raider нам практически не дает передышки, разве что в изредка появляющихся лагерях/костерках, где мы можем прокачать наше оружие и перевести дух. К слову, вооружение не очень богатое, но зато понятное: лук, пистолет, дробовик и автомат, которые мы можем прокачивать, благодаря чему на них появляются всякие дополнительные весьма полезные примочки. Игра до сих пор хорошо заходит, не смотря на то, что ей уже более шести лет и мы уже имеем две новые части, с более красивой картинкой. Да, конечно управление резковато и надо к нему привыкать, графика достойная, но всё же немного режет глаз своими намеренно четкими очертаниями. Но история и игровой процесс по-прежнему способны затянуть до самого финала.… Expand

The tombs were few and far between, and the puzzles were absurdly easy. Characters were 2 dimensional - including Lara, sadly. No matter how badass she was. There were too many collectables and there were some irritating movement bugs which resultedNever got round to getting this for the 360, so I thought the purchase for the One was justified. It's a great game. It's not an amazing game. The tombs were few and far between, and the puzzles were absurdly easy. Characters were 2 dimensional - including Lara, sadly. No matter how badass she was. There were too many collectables and there were some irritating movement bugs which resulted in unexpected ledge misses or some other error that ultimately peaked in a tragic end. Also, the gradual development in skills to traverse the foreign land was a little bit text book and predictable, and the skills were also over-used to the point where I really got bored pulling down doors or setting up ziplines with my bow. However, the set pieces were incredible. It had a real Box Office movie vibe about it, and the plot felt like a cross between Lost, Resident Evil 4 and Indiana Jones. As the game progresses you become more of a hard ass and are able to kill more people and feel less. Do you    Tomb Raider is average in every since of the word. It tries to relive the success it used to have but it tries to do that with more of the same instead of innovations.

    Story:
    The story isn't bad. Your boat crashes because you pass through a Asian version of the Bermuda triangle. As the game progresses you become more of a hard ass and are able to kill more people and feel less. Do you see the issue here? All of this is extremely cliche. Every adventure game/movie has tried a story like this. So it fails to do anything new in this regard.

    Game play:
    This is where tomb raider shows off. Every thing flows well and the controls are good. This is essental for an adventure game. I never felt as though I had a cheap death or a death because the game didn't process a movement. The shooting is good and the bow and arrow feel great.

    Graphics:
    All good here the dark atmosphere is really expressed nicely with the color pallet.

    Design:
    The levels and puzzles of the main story are so easy a baby could do it. I beat the original story line in 4-5 hours. In a single player centered game this is awful. Although is a half assed multiplayer rip off its nothing to write home about. The levels are too easy. Game designers are afraid to add a bit of challenge to their levels because they are afraid that people will get frustrated and stop playing. This is not true in every since of the word people will stop playing the game if it feels bad or the game in unfairly hard. Puzzles are something can have some added challenge. The reason why this is so frustrating in Tomb raiders case is because it has these challenging elements in the optional Tombs. These tombs feel like a puzzle and not a baby walk through. Obviously this point is subjective, therefore I can't knock it. Some people like their games to play like movies. Personally I don't

    Is it worth 30? Honestly no, the game is fine for what it is but I'd buy it for 20 because of its lack of originality and easy difficulty.    … Expand

Самым большим нововведением тут является многопользовательский режим, правда сделан он скорее чтобы было, а не как серьёзная и проработанная часть игры, где можно остаться не на один месяц, типо поугарать, а залипнуть аж до следующего проекта этой линейки.    … Expand

    Jogos da série Tomb Raider não costumam ter erro, e esse não é diferente, principalmente por iniciar uma nova trilogia muito bacana, jogo com bons gráficos (levando em consideração sempre o ano em que foi feito)... ótima história!!

    On PC was better I think the characters the zones the gameplay but in xbox one I not saw changing on anything but the survivor feeling it came to me like on PC BUT NOT BETTER ON XBOX ONE.

If you get this game which I recommend you do, play it on the hardest difficulty, it makes Lara feel like a real person, and you feel like a kick ass glass cannon. Combat and exploration is top of the **** line.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Decided to revisit this game in 2021. I had fun but the game has aged poorly and suffers from terrible story pacing.

    Pros:
    Game is fun to play and combat feels smooth. Fps boost is really nice and overall the experience seems to hold the 60fps target. Some of the set pieces are really awesome. Cons:
    The resolution is awful and is still at 1080p (maybe 900p). Because of this the overall experience is muddy and pixelated. Gameplay loop is extremely repetitive. The game is far too long overstaying its welcome by at at least 4 hours. The story pacing is just not good. The beginning cutscene does almost nothing to set the stage and just throws you imeediately into the ocean leading to an unavoidable cutscene. An hour or so in you finally get some explanation of why Lara is on the island. The first two thirds or more of the game center around finding your crew members. Along the way a few of them die and the game tries to make this out to be super tragic but has done nothing to make us care for these characters. The level design has aged poorest of all. Often the levels make no sense and dont feel lived in. They are full of waist high cover and zip lines. Sure this facilitates gameplay but overall it just continuously breaks immersion. The game seems to try to straddle the line between supernatural and grounded but ultimately just settles on the supernatural in rather boring way.    … Expand

    I love cinematic games. But I typically do not replay them, but I've replayed this a whole bunch. I love the feel of a Indiana Jones type adventure. This feels like a dark and gritty Indiana Jones with more supernatural elements. This game, in my opinion is a masterpiece. The combat is gritty and feels great, the traversal is fun and clever, the puzzle solving and tools given to you areI love cinematic games. Perhaps the biggest positive about this game is Lara Croft. No longer is she an underdeveloped and over sexualized character. She has motives, a backstory, and real development and is treated with respect by the developers.

    The setting of the game is also great, the island is cool, dark, and varied in biomes. The enemy design is varied and gives you a bunch of fun and interesting combat encounters that requires real strategy.

    Also the game in 2022 still looks beautiful.

    I cannot believe this game goes for as cheap as it does, it is a must play. It looks great on current gen consoles. If you are looking for M Rated Uncharted this is the game for you.    … Expand

    Played this now in 2023 having played Tomb Raider games earlier as a child. The optional tombs were good. The story too felt engaging. Perhaps playing it 10 years after its release made the graphics look a tad weak. Overall very playable.

    If you never had the chance to experience the game a year ago, then the Definitive Edition is an absolute no-brainer. In fact, we’re even slightly envious of those people that waited, because Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is one of the Xbox One's best games.
