I like the campaign mode as it gives more meaning to play and the battlefield feels so full of life. Finally after years of COD and BF something new that gives back my motivation and fun for playing a multiplayer fps :) I can recommend trying this game for everyone. Enjoy!! And pilots, get ready for Titanfall :)

Got my chance to play this earlier today and I have to say I'm not sure what all the hype is about. Maybe the dearth of decent games on the new round of consoles is causing an overreaction of sorts. I'm not sure but this game was just so-so and the novelty wore off fast. And no single player mode? What's that all about?

Bottom line: Titanfall is like a pretty girl--nice to look at, but

The story is told through dialogue that takes place before during and after matches. Because of this it's hard to pay attention due you being shot at by other players. I can forgive the campaign story aspect, if there was enough things here. Game modes are lacking and there is no split screen 2 player option either. All this makes me think that $60 for this game is not justified. Expand

This shouldn't be the case.. The game as it stand doesn't deserve a 10 either..... It lacks single player, the AI has got to be a joke, I think they should of spent some time tweaking the AI considering this is suppose to be the new current gen... The shooting and movements are nice albeit it reminds me of Cod and mirrors edge crammed into one game. There is nothing innovative here. Now, the maps in this game are pretty cool, they give 15 maps to play around with, this is very copl of them, but since this game is only online it should be expected,
if this game only had 5 maps it would get boring quickly... I still find this games online aspects are better than CoD, I don't really like CoD much anyway.. If they make a sequel to this game I sure hope they add a single player campaign, if they would of added one in this game I would of gave the game an 8 or 9... I would of rated the game 5 but I feel like this game is being a little unfairly rated by some people so I added two points to help the score. People who give this game a 10 are just asking for always online....

    The Bad

ok, first off, this game is probably the best, most refreshing multiplayer experience I've had since Halo 2 came out. The mechanics are awesome, the controls are rock solid, the graphics are gorgeous (on PC at least). Like FPS games and think the idea of tearing it up in a giant robot sounds like it might be kinda cool? It is fun, and even more so than you think it's gonna be. This is one of the most fun games I've played in years and I would've given it a perfect 10/10 if it wasn't for the lacking of a single player campaign and a cohesive story. But even with those flaws, the sheer replay value and joy from playing this game overrides the negatives.

Extensive stat stracking, leveling up system, the guns and the 3 Titans chassis are a tiny bit of what Titanfall has to offer. Though the frame-rate can be choppy during intense battles, the game runs at a smooth 60 FPS. The Multiplayer is divided into two sections: Campaign and Classic. In campaign, you play 9 matches total on both sides (IMC and Militia) and that's pretty much it. It's 5 Attrition matches and 4 Hardpoint domination. It is extremely short clocking at under 2 hours, but this was expected. The real fun of the game is in the Classic mode. You pick a game mode, 5 of them and three were in the Beta and two new one, Pilot Hunter and CTF. Attrition, Hardpoint Domination and CTF are the nest because the game mechanics work beautifully in these modes. In the end, Titanfall is an awesome game worthy of it's 60$ price point. It's main default is its campaign which short and ordinary. With DLC to come, I can't seeing what Respawn Entertainment will do next ! Expand

Each gun only has about 5 attachments and the number of guns isn't very high. Some people will be able to have everything unlocked before the first month is even done. I feel they should have incorporated more customization options and guns available that actually take time to achieve, especially because there is no single player to keep you busy. Never before have I played a game that kept such a high pace and energy level for so long.
The action rarely dies down, and when it does, it picks up again in a heartbeat.
I give the game a 9 just on the amount of fun there is to be had. The people giving it such low scores have never played it, and probably never will. They can be ignored. The biggest complaint is the lack of weapons.

The biggest complaint is the lack of weapons. There is a small number, with limited attatchments.
The game launches with 15 maps, and runs smoothly most of the time, with drops when the action gets intense. It doesnt take away from the fun, but it is noteable.
The game always feels balanced, I never felt like I was unfairly killed. It was always based on the other person's ability in the game, a problem I have had with Call of Duty for years.
Your range of movement is also impressive, with all runs, double jumps, and air kicks to keep action up.
It doesnt feel nor look like Call of Duty, the comparisons are based on nothing.
Though it isnt beautiful, it is pleasing to the eye. There are definitely worse looking games on the Xbox One and PS4

It has a lot of maps but many of them just feel the same. The complete lack of game modes is a huge turnoff. It just feels like you can only play basically 3 modes on repeat. Being deathmatch, capture the flag, and capture the 3 points. After maybe 5 or 6 hours of game time I could already sense how fast this was going to get old. Also the leveling system is a dumbed down version of call of duty's system. Some might argue it's equivalent but that just makes it a carbon copy at best. Nothing really innovative with it. We won't even go in the "campaign" because that's not even real. It's some voice over work with the same 2 game modes on repeat, and it doesn't make any difference if you win or lose.

In the end the game lacks content. It's as simple as that. It feels as if they hyped it to an extreme and bought a lot of official reviews, because players everywhere just find it "ok". It comes off as either they are generating interest for Titanfall 2 or they plan to sell us all the actual content in DLC after charging us $60 to play 3 game modes for months. It doesn't have lasting appeal, and within 12 hours of purchase I had refunded my copy through origin. Take it as you will.

The physics are off as well... there is little to no recoil, the Titans are clunky... it plays exactly the same as it did during the beta, which is when they are supposed to fix the types of issues. I wish I could have played it more, but the servers were rubbish almost all day. I thought that is what we paid MS for with XBox Live Gold, at least that is what everyone says. "Sure you pay for it, but it is so much better than PSN and never crashes"

All in all, it is a sub-par game. It will hold people over until a real, full FPS game comes out later this year. But that is all it will be good for.

As a long-time first person shooter player, I had started to get bored of the games I once sunk hours into. Even the Halo franchise, which I have enjoyed for a long time, gets less and less play time, and I have spent more time in other genres. To put it plainly, the shooter genre just got stale. Nothing really new or compelling had come out in a long time, and the existing mechanics weren't enough to keep me around.

This changed with Titanfall. If nothing else, the movement of the game is enough to keep it from feeling like any other FPS out there. Jumping through second story windows, running on walls, and hopping from rooftop to rooftop just makes it feel different than any other FPS out there. The myriad ways you can traverse a map means that even if you have a general direction you like to travel on a given map, you have myriad ways of arriving there.

Throw the Titans into the mix, and this where things start to get really interesting. It essentially adds another game into Titanfall because the mechanics between being on foot and being in a Titan are so different. Where being on foot allows you visceral, fast movement and freedom, the Titans are a little more restrictive. You can only go certain places on the map, you are a hug target to any enemies on the map, and you need to think more about cover because being in a few-meter tall mech makes it harder to dodge fire. However, mastering the different Titans (there are three) and their various loadouts to give you the perfect combination for a given situation is very rewarding.

Speaking of rewards, although the game is short on story (the campaign mode is 9 missions that can be played from the viewpoint of each of the 2 factions), the various weapon rewards will keep you coming back for more. Whether it's getting the new scope for your carbine or unlocking the rapid fire mod for the Titan rocket launcher, there are some compelling upgrades that you're going to want to nab.

I've been having a blast with this game (more than any other shooter I have played in the past couple years), and suspect I will be for quite some time. Hats off to Respawn for breathing some new life into a genre that had otherwise begun to become very stale indeed.

Why there has to be a 70+ second count down before getting to another long loading screen is beyond me. Maybe that is just part of the "campaign" mode. In my opinion, this game is fun... at the start. However, the initial excitement has began to wear off, and I do not see myself playing this game more than 25 hours. The thing that bugs me the most is the titan combat. I my experience, titan combat becomes a slug fest with virtually no skill at all. This saddens me because this was one of the things I was hyped up about the most. Another thing that bugs me is the COD esque gunplay, which has no recoil, and requires little skill. This is a noob friendly game, so if you are a competitive gamer looking for challenging and realistic gunplay, this is not the game for you. However, I do enjoy the verticality element brought to the game due to the pilot's movement. You never get stuck on anything, unlike BF4, and overall movement in the game is very fluid. Expand

This is mostly sour grapes from people who have never even bothered to play it or are unable to play it. That is a sad thing from people wanting to bring the game down not because its a bad game but because its not on their console of choice.

If you don't want to check out the mainstream go listen to Totalbuscuits reviews.

The game is very good and all this as a first game from a new studio. They are however a studio of veterans but a new studio none the less. The game is almost flawless its a fantastic attempt to breath new life into what has become a fairly static genre. The balance between both the pilot gameplay and the titan game play is epic changing mid battle or calling in a Titan to act as a wingman never gets old. I will admit the game does not take many risks but most other games in this genre don't either. The game play can be broken into 2 types the pilot gameplay that feels somewhat familiar but also has a freshness about it I have not seen since COD4. The wall jumping adds speed and fluidity of movement around the fantastically designed maps giving the whole game a sense of rhythm. Mix this up with the epic titan battles that erupt around you and matches come to an end all too soon. The titan game play feels different enough to keep things fresh while still feeling somewhat familiar. I have to admit I never got board of calling in a Titan to aid me when trying to keep a hard point or charging in to blow its core when the odds where not in my favour. There are some bad points too the campaign lacks depth and could have been so much more than what is essentially a beginners mode. The frame rate seldom drops bellow a silky smooth 60 FPS and when it does you hardly notice it.

The game does benefit from a balanced unlock system rarely are you left feeling that you have been grinding for hours with no weapons or perks unlocked.

There have been a lot of complaints about the fact that the game is multiplayer only however I remember a little franchise called battlefield which was multiplayer only and was still great.

So to those who knock this without trying It I say its your loss and your narrow-minded view has probably robed you of a great experience.

While not perfect I believe the game provides a fresh take and shows what can be done when to breath new life into a stale genre.

Ultimately I remember a time when games where about gameplay and not solely about graphics I mean take dark souls does not look great but its fun to play. Titan fall looks great and is fun to play.

Half of these scores should be tossed. This game isn't a 5 or lower but it isn't a 10 either. The game is a little different twist on the FPS genre. The AI is completely terrible; if this is the power of the cloud that sucks. The screen does have some tearing at the top at times. Overall it is a very fun game but it does have issues. If you got it for free in a Titanfall bundle it's worth it. Would I pay $60 for it? No but I would pay $40.

I do enjoy that as a grounded player you can take out a Titan. Playing in the Titan isn't as fun depending on the map as I would have imagined. The target on your back is really huge. I've learned to set my Titan to guard me or certain points. Play inside the Titan should be a little better. Maybe allow a little bump in Titan armor since it really seems to go quickly if two or three guys gang up on you.

They definitely held stuff back from the beta. Logged in and played fine, found myself hanging around for the end of the first campaign stage (Militia). Totally worth the hype. Perhaps I'm not as attuned to the whole 1080p thing, but honestly did not see what the fuss was about regarding resolution. Titanfall is a must buy if your are a xbox owner. The game has the same nostalgic feel as halo series multiplayer except its like a nodded version where you can double jump run on walls and stick to them. On top of that you throw in epic moments of being in powerful titans to even they playing field. Titanfall is an amazing game that will have you glued to your controller for hours on end. If you love shooters than you will definitely love Titanfall. Even though you may not necessarily like shooter, you deserve to try it out and judge for yourself. Ignore most of these ratings where people indiscriminately rate it low...they obviously haven't played it.

The game's emphasis on fun is what makes it prevail so overwhelmingly. The game is just fun. Action is non-stop, but it never feels totally out of your control. It's equally fun in or outside of a titan. I can't recommend it enough.

I gave this game a 6 because of lack of maps. You get the same amount of maps you do with other fps with a single player on the game. I don't mind but the price shouldn't have been $60. I feel it was rushed with lack of skins in weapons and titians. Don't get me wrong I love playing it. I just feel jipped with the amount of maps and options. So far the respawn areas are good. They don't put u in areas where u will die soon as u respawn. Again this is only my opnion of it as of day one Expand

Aside from a few minor quibbles (I can jump across streets and hop over entire buildings, but a knee-high window ledge is insanely finicky to get past?) Titanfall is undoubtedly a great game which does an exceptional job of breathing new life into an increasingly-stale genre.

An intensely fun multiplayer game that is accessible and fun for everyone. Not perfect, but that's what sequels are for.

A spectacular and superbly crafted, if traditional, shooter. [May 2014, p.71]
