I am going to go with an 8 on this game. I feel that the campaign part honestly was kind of pointless (besides unlocking the titan bodies), and you are in the lobby forever and there are too many dumb intro movies for the battles that really really are useless. I could not tell you one thing that happened in the campaign besides that some dude died and I don't even know who nor did I or anyone care. One thing that concerned me with the beta that they seem to have adjusted was the titan vs pilot balance, you can kill titans on foot pretty easily... not very easily by any stretch but it seems a little easier than in the betas and you can survive (sometimes) a run-in with a titan. Someone else brought up a point about liking the pilot game better than using the titans and there are some maps where I agree with that, and often times i use my titan to defend me or to run in and try and nuclear eject and kill a couple titans and people. But at the same time that is why I like this game more than I expected to, on the surface it seems like a run around and shoot senselessly but there is actually a lot of strategy involved with the burn cards, titans, and everything really. There are times I leave my titan waiting to drop for 5 minutes, times I drop it right away, times I use certain burn cards (the endless grenade ones are the best by far IMO). The game is fun, I don't care about things like "Screen tearing" or "frame-rate dropping" or any of that technical crap. The game looks great, plays great, and hopefully will stay that way. I hope they add more add-ons, weapons, and burn cards... its doubtful but with an MP only game hopefully they do. One gripe is that I feel at times some rounds are too short, this is mostly in attrition (which is most of the campaign so you wait for 2-3 minutes between the lobby and the intro crap to play and the game ends in 5 mins) it seems but if you play pilot hunter it goes much longer. This game does feel different, and its fast paced and hard to put down and it's original... I would highly recommend, I am concerned for the long term life of it as I've seen mentioned but I think its worth a purchase and I will have faith that they will update it often Expand

Don' believe all the 0's. Seriously, use your head. There is no way a game made by some of the best developers in the world would be bad enough to score a 0. Awesome game that implements the best things from Mirrors Edge, Call Of Duty, Battlefield, and adds robots. This game was system seller for me, and I am glad that I have bought the Xbox One. (No hate for PS4). With this game, you just can't go wrong if you like FPS.

Really fun online experience. However, I am extremely disappointed in the lack of campaign. This game could have been something really great. As much fun as I am having with it, I am only giving it a 7/10 because I feel it is incomplete. I play games for the full experience and unfortunately the multiplayer is only a portion of the experience.

Gameplay: The gameplay is good and can be a lot of fun for casual gamers. Matches are fast-paced, weapons seem a little unbalanced, but playing as both pilot and Titan offer several innovative features such as par-core, double-jumping when you play as a pilot, and a variety of neat offensive and defensive weapons when you play as a Titan. Titans aren't overpowered, can be earned easily, and can be killed just as easily. Getting a Titan amounts to getting temporary superpowers or a kill streak. Map design is top-notch as expected. Unfortunately, the low number of human opponents and the high number of rather stupid enemy bots, are real weak points to the game, because it's difficult to distinguish between bots and humans, and mowing down a bunch of bots, who initially have the upper hand on you, just isn't very rewarding. If the matches were 10 v 10 humans (at a minimum) with a few less bots, the longevity of the game might increase significantly.

Graphics: Any reviews you've read saying that Titanfall is beautiful graphically are simply being dishonest. At the highest settings, the game looks comparable to Homefront, is noticeably less impressive than Black Ops II, and is simply put to shame by both Battlefield 3 and especially Battlefield 4. In fact, both Tomb Raider and Battlefield 4 on the PS4 look and run significantly better than Titanfall, at the highest settings, on PC. So if graphics are important to you, Titanfall is definitely not the game for you. Additionally, the color schemes are quite bland with pale green, beige, and light brown schemes without a lot of contrast, which can make it very difficult at times to identify enemies hiding in plain sight.

Verdict: For the casual gamer who enjoys chaotic battles that don’t require a lot of skill or the hard-core gamer who wants the occasional distraction from his or her competitive shooter of choice. While I think the gameplay is good, the game lacks any longevity because of the lack of human players and the abundance of distractive, stupid enemy bots. $60 is definitely about $30 too steep to pay for this game. If you want to play the game on console, my gut tells me that both the XBOX One and XBOX 360 versions will have identical gameplay (hence the delay in launching the XBOX 360 version). So you’re probably better off getting the XBOX 360 version of the game to experience flashes of next gen gameplay, without having to shell out the cash for a new system on the false promise of experiencing next gen graphics, which simply are not part of the Titanfall package.

Ok, so let's start off like this. EA sucks. EA is probably the WORST company in existence, but Titanfall is an incredibly good game. It is fun, addictive and it never gets old. I'll keep this review brief and informative with bullet pointed pros and cons:

    Pros:
-Titans are cool. Titans are fun to use. Titans just feel awesome
-The parkour style movement is easily this game's strongest point. It's just downright silly fun
-The gameplay is responsive and solid feeling
-The game rewards skill with success, if you're good, you will perform well
-The game punishes badness with failure, New concept: If you're bad, YOU ACTUALLY LOSE. WOAH! I could rant for days about this. I am so SICK AND ******* TIRED of the current FPS environment slowly removing skill from the equation. I won't though...deep breath.
-Burn cards are a very fun feature
-The graphics are for the most part, excellent.
-The autopistol is ACTUALLY balanced. I'm astounded by this, really.
-Comes FREE with the X1 bundle

    Cons:
-The game has almost ZERO aim-assist, or "target magnetism" This is a HUGE problem considering the constant double jumps and speed of players. It's brutal.
-Too many titans, too often. You're either in one, or taking one out. Person to person combat is too rare.
-The level design is bad. Most levels don't complement the parkour movement system usefully.
-Not enough guns. Again, NOT ENOUGH GUNS. DOUBLE the amount and it would be alright.
-Sniper rifles are a terrible choice, people move too quickly to even consider hitting most times.
-Shotguns don't get enough range OR damage to be of use in most situations.
-Satchel Charges/C4 are immensely overpowered against titans.
-Some burn cards are game-breaking. (free ogre titan at 00:05 anyone?)
-The game gets stale very quickly, there's not enough to accomplish beyond just winning a match.
-The "prestige" or "generation" system contributes nothing. I'll say that again, you get NOTHING.
-The story line needed more backstory, or to just be removed. I can't comprehend the need for a storyline in a multiplayer environment. JUST PLAY FOR FUN! Especially considering you don't pick your team in most situations. It's just silly. Depth is for a campaign, multiplayer is about competition.
-The kicking melee is just silly. It should only happen when you're jetpacking through the air. Otherwise it should be some sort of blade.

    Summary:

This game had all the potential in the world to be great, but it just didn't deliver. There isn't enough content to keep the player coming back. Once you've reached max level the first time around, you have pretty much experienced Titanfall in its completeness. Titans are far too common and the game in its entirety seems to consist of either killing titans, being in a titan, or being killed by a titan.

If this game had a no-titans game mode I would raise this review to an 8/10. As ironic as that is, this game would be vastly improved by having LESS TITANS in it.

The game simply has no depth beyond a match-to-match win or loss. Once a game is over, it ceases to matter. There are no long term goals, and there is no way to show off your prowess in the lobby, or on your 'playercard' beyond your rank...which simply amounts to "time played".

What would further improve the environment of play:
-More guns (it gets stale exponentially faster than other games due to the woefully inadequate selection)
-Make shotguns and snipers a non-irresponsible choice of weapon
-ADD AIM ASSIST, at least on par with Halo's. If there ever was a game that needed it, this is the game.
-Add an endless game mode (an endless deathmatch lobby where players come and go as they please, match bonus is received upon leaving.)
-Add some sort of accolade or trophy system ingame. Give players a "playercard" where they can show off their most impressive accomplishments. This is something that, until recently, Call of Duty has done very well.

    My score: 7/10

Incredible multi-player functionality however there is one minor drawback that developers seemed to have failed foreseeing. There is no such thing as a casual gaming experience when the only enemies you are allowed to face are real time players through Xbox Gold...
The pace set by this type game play is much faster and more arduous then a standard Player vs CPU campaign.
    In my opinion

As an off shoot from COD, thos is a far, far better game than it. The wall runs take skill, and reward you with good map positioning, the maps are large enough hat surprising someone is always an option. The titans dont add much, but, a little bit of newb slaying is hardly ever a bad thing. Really, shows all the recent COD installments to be the joke that they are, this is a far better game

Titanfall is everything it promised to be, a fun and addictive first person shooter that brings back the fun to the oversaturated FPS market. The inclusion of new game mechanics such as wall running, double jumping and the titans is what the gene needed. My only gripe is the campaign which is just the same multiplayer modes available rehashed with some real time background story as you play. You won't care for the characters or the story to be honest as you will be too busy looking for the next pilot's neck to break.
The games is so well balanced, and at last I am pleased to say that campers will get there backside handed to them. The burn cards are great variation of perks and only last as long as you are alive, which adds the perfect balance, making sure that people do not have that unfair advantage that COD gives some players, or at least what some people believe.
The titans are in a league of their own, when you hear that "stand by for titanfall", you can't wait to scramble in and kick some butt!! However if you think the titan is the boss of the battlefield, think again. It only takes you to be outnumbered by other titans or for an enemy pilot to be on your back, and suddenly you are not the badass you think you were. Which brings me back to the game being exceptionally balanced, which includes the weapons, of which there is not the variety that you get with other shooters, which I think is a good thing.
All the guns seem perfect and not overpowered, and with the games challenges you are semi forced to try out different weapons, which can surprise you as some guns you would not usually want to play with all of a sudden becomes your best friend.
So in a nut shell, don't listen to some of the negative reviews posted on here as we all know it's the idiot fanboys trying to damage the rep of the game. This is a good fps and was needed to refresh the genre, just look at Call of Duty already taking a leaf out of Titanfall's book and trying to up its game with the double jump etc. Says a lot when the world's most successful shooter of all time is learning new tricks from the new kid on the block!!

    PROS:
Great fresh FPS which makes a new stand in the genre.
    Perfectly balanced
    Titans!!
    And Pilots!
Very complex maps, with levels of all height - you are no safe anywhere campers!!

    CONS:
"Campaign" - Should of been left out to add more maps for example
A bit bare bones in regards to modes and lack of single player
    Story Narrative uninspiring

Best FPS to come out in a long while - will keep you entertained for months to come!!

Oh My God, this game is epic. Finally we have a multiplayer game with incredibly well balanced gameplay mechanics. Nothing is broken. They even managed to avoid perk abuse with the Burn Cards : you choose three of them from your personal deck before a game, and you lose whichever one you activated when you die.

Being in a titan does not make you completely invulnerable against infantry (yet you have the advantage), and being as infantry, you won't get crippled down by titans if you can just be a little smart. What makes it really attractive, is that you don't need to kill or play objectives to get your titan faster, but simply damage your opponents (AI or players). That way, no kill steal nor abusive teammates will prevent you from getting a titan, and everybody will get at least one during each game.

You can even build some strategies, since your titan's built-in AI can guard areas or follow and assist you.

Realisation is great, yet not as (purely) technically great as RYSE when it comes about graphics, but still, textures are sharp, antialiasing does a very fine job, and models are very well-designed. Sound effects are completely credible, and the overall ambiance is astounding. The parkour abilities are so intuitive, you won't take long at all getting used to it.

And I have to say, 6 vs 6 is just what it needs. The AI is here to balance things up, allowing overwhelmed teams to catch up when really in need. And most impressively, it makes camping difficult since they practically are everywhere, trying to slow you down (but not really hurting you), in order to keep dynamism in gameplay.

Yet, I can't give it a 10/10 because it really lacks a true solo campaign. I understand why they had rather implemented a scenario within multiplayer shaped games in order to create a campaign, but I really don't think it would've been impossible to have a true solo campaign.

Lets get past the whole not being a real game part because I should have known that (I was well aware you needed XBL gold and I do have it) but when you play a totally online game the first time not on opening weekend this is your experience.

Click on play Titanfall, go right to a match which is not balanced to play with other brand new players against a bunch of guys who have been at it for months and here is the big surprise. The guys who have played hundreds of games beat the players who don't know what all the buttons do! Wow such fun! Oh wait was I supposed to take a university course on Titanfall controls before I played? games are asking for too much time these days.

Maybe I'm just too old for games, I like to sit down and play a game just a few hours a week for fun and by a few I mean like 2 hours per week tops.

All that being said, a game mode where you play with other people who just started also would be nice, playing my first game against 3 guys who at the maximum level is just stupid, really really stupid.

I couldn't return the game and I would rather let it collect dust on the shelf than sell it for 11 bucks so there it will stay...

There's far less weaponry and customization to choose from then Call of Duty, which to me, is refreshing. The way you build your Pilot is nice and clean and simple. Wall running and jet-packing is a lot of fun too. I was happy with the "Campaign" multiplayer. That too was like a breath of fresh air, unless of course you are more interested in cut-scenes then the actual gameplay. The story moves from mission to mission passively, but it's a story nonetheless.
My one and only reason for not being utterly obsessed with this game is it's total lack of offline play. There isn't any. It would be nice to load up an offline game against some bots (which Respawn spared no effort in providing). That's my boo boo. Still a super enjoyable game... until you lose connection.

Anyone whom rates this game as a 10 OR 0 do NOT listen to. Its not perfect/ so near perfection or broken. What happened to the days where you could actually trust an individuals opinion without being subjected to BIAS opinions or fan boy'ism like comments.

Don't take my review to account as I have not properly played it, just wanted to send a message!

If you like shooting things as a man in a mech then this is for you. No real substance with Lost planet aspirations without the story or engaging gameplay, overhyped and average visuals don't help much. Try renting it, if you love it great, if not, you saved your cash. Very disappointing.

One Massive missed opportunity. Multiplayer only? Ok but how about a few more multiplayer features than a standard game? Nope. What we get is far less than what we've come to expect from even the most basic multiplayer experiences. It gets a big ol' meh from me. Play it once at a friends house and save your money.

Constant frame drops, severe tearing, awful AI and lack of offline matches with bots is unacceptable for $60 game on $500 next gen console. I wish I saved my money.

If you ever want to know what drives the gaming community nuts this game is a prime example. I'm going to keep it short and to the point. There is NO single player campaign! Yes, you read correctly. What you're paying the $60 price tag for is a multiplayer game. There is nothing new nor "innovative" about this game (as most sell-out critics would like for you to believe). Yes, you read correctly. What you're paying the $60 price tag for is a multiplayer game. There is nothing new nor "innovative" about this game (as most sell-out critics would like for you to believe). You want to play a fast paced shooter? How about the latest Call of Duty or Battlefield installment or any shooter these days? You want to play a mech game? How about Hawken? BTW Hawken is free-to-play and the graphics is virtually identical to this one. So basically what this game does is combine the most prominent parts from other games and calls it innovation. And you're paying $60 for it... for a multiplayer game.

This is why I never read the critics reviews, I only scan through them and from the looks of it the majority of them gave this game a 90 or higher LOL. Something fishy is going on. Can you believe this bullshiiiet! What I do read are the mixed and negative reviews from the critics and the reviews from the users. I never based my decision on buying games from critics reviews because they are mostly sell-outs giving a higher score to the company that can pay them the most. Because of this unprofessionlism by the so called "critics", I have fully replaced them with the User Reviews as my new source for professional criticism. After all, it's the majority consensus that matters. Therefore, if the critics gave a game a 9/10 or even a perfect 10 but the users gave it a **** score, I'm going to side with the user's base decisions.

Aside from a few minor quibbles (I can jump across streets and hop over entire buildings, but a knee-high window ledge is insanely finicky to get past?) Titanfall is undoubtedly a great game which does an exceptional job of breathing new life into an increasingly-stale genre.

An intensely fun multiplayer game that is accessible and fun for everyone. Not perfect, but that's what sequels are for.

A spectacular and superbly crafted, if traditional, shooter. [May 2014, p.71]
