Timothy vs the Aliens is an open-world platformer, and adventure video game where a gangster will defend his black & white city from an invasion of full-colored aliens.

The game takes place in Little Fish City, an open and large city that can be freely explored and hides many secrets and missions. This is a city full of platforms, and going through it won't be just walking from one point to another. In addition, you will be able to explore the whole city by car, using any of the vehicles that appear in the game.

In Timothy vs the Aliens you will also find many moments of action in ambushes by aliens, as well as lots of puzzles to find items, help other characters, and access blocked or hidden places.

Of course, you will always be well-equipped to fight against the aliens, and you will be able to increase your inventory buying items from the Gunrunner.

All this and much more in a game full of stories, adventures and secrets.

Timothy vs the Aliens will run for anything up to four hours or so and it’s quite nostalgic to play through it, reminding much of games from the Xbox 360 period. It has a lovely visual language, employing a black and white world to great effect. All the mechanics work very well and there are collectibles to find for the purists at heart. However, it does all feel a bit empty and fails to excite enough for you to want to look forward to your next playthrough.

Overall, if you’re looking for something that will keep you occupied for a few hours and doesn’t really require all that much concentration to see through to the end, then Timothy Vs the Aliens is likely to be able to tick that box, with a 3-4 hour run time enough to see it done and dusted. Should you want something that can bring engagement, excitement, and something to dig your teeth into, then unfortunately this isn’t going to be for you. Sure, with a little more development and a bigger budget we could have even seen something spectacular here, but as it stands currently, this is more of an empty shell and a load of fetch quests rather than a full-frontal defence against an alien invasion.

Timothy VS the Aliens does not reinvent the genre but offers an enjoyable experience. Its few weak points do not tarnish our overall good impression. However, the game’s easy difficulty makes it more appropriate for a young or beginner audience. Considering its limited lifespan, the price seems a bit overboard.
