Recurring strange dreams push him to look for the truth behind the village mystery. As he investigates an old castle, he finds a way to switch between night and day and start being chased by a dreadful monster, The Nightwatcher.

Will he be able to find answers? What lies beyond the Tannhauser Gate? Who or what is The Nightwatcher? What is the meaning of the strange messages he keeps on finding?

The World After is a brand new sci-fi full-motion video point and click adventure game, created during the 2020 French pandemic lockdown by movie designers and artists. Starring Jean-Claude Dreyfus (The City of Lost Children, Delicatessen), this game is the perfect match between old-school point and click mechanics and modern cinematography technology.

Whilst the transition across languages hasn't helped the writing in places, you should enjoy your time with The World After.

Just like the pandemic, you may want to create as much distance from it as possible - But it wouldn't hurt to play it if the story is of interest.

The World After is a good attempt at a point and click adventure using live footage, there is some good dialogue and the puzzles aren’t likely to slow people down. Unfortunately, the plot doesn’t reveal much and it ends with more of a shrug than a bang.

The World After brings a welcome breath of fresh air to the world of FMV games. It combines modern cinematic art with old-fashioned point 'n click mechanics. The title invites us to reflect on mankind's evolution in the face of environmental hazards and our ability to learn from past mistakes. However, it is regrettable that the adventure ends so quickly. Fortunately, Burning Sunset has already announced its next project, which will take place in the enchanting setting of the Frioul Islands in Marseille, and we cannot wait!
